Yes, Nancy, if the burner had not been discovered, it could have been disastrous for you, your family and home. I'm so happy you found it in time, too! :D

DH said my chopped walnuts pkg., I'd put out for him to put in the cake, were FIVE YEARS OLD! :!:   So he put in a "couple of handfuls of mixed nuts. At least they're fresh." Oh, no! WHAT is this cake going to taste like?

I s2s, shampooed, put on a black turtleneck with a purple ruffled lightweight knit infinity scarf, DDIL made me, which is "IN" now. I asked DH, "How do I look?" He said, "You look- okay." I asked him, "I feel a bit "funny" putting on Mother of Pearl beads wearing jeans and a turtleneck. Infinity scarves are "IN" and I think my dfriend will love it. She sews and she'll see a new idea, too." DH says, "It's - okay." So I bite my tongue, sit down here to report how "okay" I look, when I look beautiful, and realized something comical. I'm now writing a story from the male POV. 2 of my professional writer dfriends, who write books, told me the exact same thing about males. They're less emotional, they don't show their feelings as much as women do, they don't get all excited, they're quieter, etc... So NOW I realize how DH is just BEING A MALE! :!:  So of course, he's not doing cartwheels over my scarf. ;)

He's getting the mail, our DSON called, I walked/talked 30 min. on his lunch hour, on the phone with him, it was wonderful, I got my exercise in, have endorphins, and it was so nice to laugh, joke, and enjoy our conversation. With 7 kids at home, talking on the phone with him is noisy, so it was quiet, and so nice. I enjoyed it so much. ♥

Thank you to those of you who wish and wished me a happy b-day. Sherinjoy, you're making all of us feel so good and we're glad we inspire you. I feel inspired, motivated, too, and cheered on. It's wonderful! :D

LOL! Ivy, according to your friend, I am more male than my dh!! He is definitely louder and more prone to showing his feelings than me. He is more social, more sociable, actually better at "counseling" type situations. I tend to be very calm and emotionally even-keeled; dh is the one who can be a bit over-exuberant. I'm not sure when he is more difficult - when he is extremely happy or when he is extremely unhappy. . . .

I've done dishes.
I have flip flopped the last load of laundry, folded and put the other one away. Did my miles on the ex. Bike,
Fed the hens. Napped, and
The baby was here gone now.
Dgson will be here in 45 min.
He is coming here again for the discipline to home work after school. X

I made the errand run this afternoon: L owes, P etSmart and bank, and a walk through M ichaels, TJ M axx, Office D epot. May have found something at L owes that will replace the drawer slides on an old wooden chest of drawers that we use in our bathroom. If I can get the drawers to slide open evenly I'll repaint or "shabby chic" it perhaps. Got bins for fall and Halloween things.

Since I got home I'm been just hanging out. Dh had late meeting; don't know what time he'll be around. I just walked ddogs.

I need to go ahead and scan through the temple stmts so that is done, and empty the dishwasher. Otherwise, just normal p.m. routine is left.

Taking a moment to post while my first coat of nail polish dries.

Quiet day. Culled photos during the morning lecture. I'm friends with this afternoon's lecturer so will pay full attention.

Have swollen up badly. Turns out the club soda I'm drinking has 3x the sodium of coke! And the ship processed water is also high in sodium so I'm switching to bottled water as much as possible. And will spend more time with legs elevated.

Just did my knee physio (a lot of those have my legs elevated.) I'm exhausted and want to sleep. That will teach me to wake up and watch the sunrise after 6 hours sleep!

:D Our dfriends came over, I'M the ONLY 1 who ate b-day cake! We all had coffee and/or hot chocolate though. BFF was on her way to get her hair cut, errands were next, etc.. so she didn't eat or drink. The cake was so moist, tasted wonderful with the mixed nuts, and my WILLPOWER WEDNESDAY's going to be a "willpower Thurs., Fri., Sat. AND Sun.!" :!: The cake's so delicious. It's called "Dump Cake 1," from:

http://www.allrecipes.com

It takes canned cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, yellow cake mix, 1 c. chopped nuts, and mix it inside the pan, then drizzle with 1/2 c. melted butter, bake and it so good, moist, has a good flavor, and I can't say enough good things about it. DH did GR8! :P

BFF and her DH gave me a nice b-day card and a short-sleeved floral t-shirt size 12/14 and IT FITS!!!! :!:  :P I'm so surprised it fits. But it's nice to have something floral for spring coming.

DD called, I walked 1/2 hour again, while chatting with her. She said at Christmas, the wild stylish purse was my b-day gift and the cotton leopard p. j.'s were my Christmas gift. So she doesn't need to drive down here, 50+ miles to tell me that or bring a card. I told her the 1 on 1 chats on the phone with my adult children are gifts enough for me and she doesn't need to waste time, gas, go through freeway traffic to tell me the same things, in person she's doing on the phone. Both DD and our Dson are doing well, too. :D :D We had lots of laughs talking, too.

Now, our company's gone, I'm trying to figure out what to do next, from my long list of calendar reminders into my inbox. The main thing is, the house is all clean. Now I'm washing DH's and my blue jeans. It's been a good b-day, BFF looked real serious at me and said, "Now, what is turning 62 REALLY like?" :?: :?: :?: I said, "Well, I woke up SINGING!" It's true! I really did. :D

The mailer to Ddil for dgd's 3 hats, wasn't able to be delivered because they're not home, so it'll be re-delivered or picked up at the P. O. by one of them. I can hardly wait to see dgd in the hat photos. :) Such an adorable girlie girl. ♥

We'll have lasagna for dinner with salad, veggie (perhaps) and garlic bread and cake for dessert. (Yes, it means 2 pieces for me today.) You only hit 62 on one day in your life, right? ;)

I found out how BFF and her Dmom love crocheted nylon scrubbies. BFF's Dmom recently moved back home from Canada and brought her scrubbie with her, so I'll make them some. Got a few patterns from on-line, too. After the jeans are done, I might wash some dark laundry or something, to be caught up by bedtime because I need/WANT to get a story off.

I'd better sign off and get busy. DH is watching a tear-jerker old movie. :( I've seen it before. Thanks for the b-day wishes, Everyone! Have a nice evening, too. :D

Kathryn! GET WELL SOON! :!:

Ivy, you look absolutely beau-ti-ful! I've always wanted to make those crocheted scrubbies. Could you share the pattern? They get made with nylon net strips instead of yarn, right?

I got the kitchen all cleaned up after dinner, and made lunches for tomorrow. Had to take a nap this afternoon. DH is out at youth group. He came home pretty done in from his day at work. I asked him how he made out and he said not good, but he did what he could. We have a drs. appointment (2nd opinion) tomorrow at 9 before he goes out to work again. Please remember us, we need some clear direction from this guy. I am very stressed over it all.

H. Is working later so I decided to watch Merrill S. play Margret Thatcher on net flicks. I realized I have never seen it.

Last load is in the dryer.
Soup for dinner.
Kids are gone for the day fed hens their dinner tuned on their light, today I did not get outside to do much.

Hello, villagers ~

Happy birthday, Ivy!

Today it has felt like I haven't been accomplishing anything because a big job is still hanging over my head. However, when I started to list what I'd done, I realized that in fact I have not been just procrastinating or sidetracking, I've been doing higher priority tasks. It just feels like I'm never going to get that project done, though, and I really want it DONE!

Tonight I need to finish sewing group financial reports for December and send them out.

...
And this post sat while I took care of laundry, supper, dishes -- so I'm feeling not so much a slug any more. Trash needs to go out to the curb tonight, I'll take care of that next.

Ivy ~ My DSis has made that dump cake for family gatherings. It is so good. That is the only good thing about my oven not working -- I love to bake and I would have stuff like that around all the time. Much too tempting to try to justify dump cake for breakfast because "It has a lot of fruit in it!" ;)
