Sunday Steps

Post by OKay »

the steps to getting more organized are so time-consuming!
quoting our own Ivy.

I find this so true. Initially it can take an immense amount of time, effort and thought to get organized. The pay-backs are usually quick and well worth the initial effort.

As we share our efforts to organized areas of our life, I find it is contagious. I am constantly influenced by reading of your efforts.

Looking forward to the next organization successes! One step at a time.

I'm trying to decided if I will make a overnight trip to play with DGS7 and DGD2. DDIL invited us to come spend the 3 day weekend with them. I'm tired and really don't want to do that 8 hour drive, but know the next few weeks schedule is packed. It could be weeks/months before a free weekend comes available. Added on top of the normal activities, LO T-ball season is about to start and DSon is kicking off several projects which means his work schedule becomes maxed-out busy. I am trying to convince myself how long I will regret passing up this opportunity....trying to convince myself the regret will be longer term than the exhaustion I'm feeling right now.

Product Review - Earlier this month during an eye exam, I complemented the nurse on her hair. She was about the same age as me and her hair was long and shiny. She told me that she had been a long time Pantene hair product fan, but recently switched to Suave Moroccan shampoo & Conditioner. I decided to give it a try. I am most impressed after one use. I can tell a positive difference in how my hair feels and looks. I ordered it from Amazon but it is also available most anywhere - Walmart carries it.

Quiet morning here - I slept in until 10 a.m. after being out late (for us!) last night and getting home 11:30ish. Good time at fundraising party - lots of friends from Jewish community and fun, good food and drinks.

Nothing on the agenda today - Dh is probably bored to tears already watching TV but I'm happy to have a quiet day. I'm doing chili for supper tonight. I need a grocery store trip and I'm not sure what else is happening. Definitely don't need a nap today!

-walk ddogs
-straighten GR
-start a lol
-wash face, brush teeth, get dressed et al
-clear kitchen counters

I don't know what "possessed" me! :!: But I got up early, s2s, dressed up in Seahawks blue and green. I NEVER have done this before in my LIFE!

Now that DH has s2s, HE'S dressed up in Seahawks blue and green, TOO, and HE'S NEVER done that in HIS life either!

So we're now ready for the game. I got out 2 tote bags of yarns; 1 acrylic for dgrson hats/mushroom Amigurumi toys and 1 tote of 100% plastic canvas nylon for scrubbies and P 'n' C for dishcloths. I only have 1 load of dry towels to fold/put away, no laundry's needed to get done today. I plan to crochet and write letters. I'll walk indoors and do yoga to the game, too, or before it comes on.

Actually, I cannot recall if this is where I use the blue colored font OR green font. :?:  Oh, well. I guess you get the idea. ;)

I'm very happy the weather will be good for the game. We had a wonderful pot roast last night and will have hash tonight. :D :D

I was thinking, before I drifted off to sleep, about how time-consuming it is to get organized. What's worst than that is, being in a cluttered and disorganized room, looking for a certain thing you just "knew" you put there, but where? :?:  And you can't find it. So many times, tearing up a room, looking for some certain thing is so time-consuming, too. It's so nice to baby step a room back into order and work hard to keep it that way, too. I find coming here to be so motivating, too. I enjoy listening to the her-story of others at the Village, too. :D

HAPPY SUNDAY STEPS! :D

My 'steps' included getting from church, back home and to our Annual Meeting at church back up home! I sat here in the cool but nicer day than up there. Dh and Dd 'attended' the meeting with me, via S kype. And we all were counted as 'present'. Technology today never ceases to amaze me. I took minutes (along with someone up there in case anything happened with our communication line.)

Now I'd love to go to Disney today, but it's just too chilly for me. I know - it's up to about 63 but with the breeze that's too much for me to handle walking around there all day. DD and I did sit and try to make reservations for a hotel room on property next month. Got one for the night DS-A and family are coming in to the Orlando/Sanford airport. They're not due in until after 10pm so we (or maybe I) decided that we'll go over to Disney after dd gets home from work, have dinner, check in to our room (which is a different hotel than DS's). I'll stay there while DD goes to Sanford to pick up DS's family & bring them back to their hotel. Then she'll come to ours, we'll spend the night and then the next day at Disney. Figured this way (since I don't care to drive after dark any more -especially there) the dk's & dgk's will have more room in the car for their baggage, etc. ;) ;) ;) And I'll just be able to stay and relax while DD does all the work. ;) ;) ;)

Have the heat going in our room but I'm still cold. Went out to the living room and it felt colder to me. Finally discovered that dsonil had left the back door to the screened porch, open. Heat's on out there too.

Think I'm going to relax and read for a while. Then I'll start working on getting dh packed to go north (Wed.) Meeting friends from church for lunch tomorrow. DD is going with us since we finally realized she doesn't have school tomorrow.

You gals dressed for the Seahawks game reminded me that we had a new person join our Trivia team Thursday night. He's been a writer for "Kim Possible" for several years at Disney. And.....the Seattle Seahawks fly him from FL to OR each year to be their Santa Claus at their Christmas party. He certainly looks the role. :)

I kept the 3 year olds & under kiddos during church. There was 6 of them so the time flew by with me giving non-stop care. My knees got a good work out crawling around with them.

AFter church we picked up DD & DGD2 for lunch. Being together is slowly working from being stressful toward comfortable. DD is now looking me in the eye when talking. LO is full of questions for DD as he gets to know her. "Do you like marshmallows?" "Do you like the color green?" Repeat... repeat..... repeat.... with 100 more questions.....

LO is down for a nap so I can decompress a bit and have some quiet time. Then I need to throw some things into a overnight bag for us and get on the road.

Some of my steps today included getting the trash out, doing one meal of dishes, fixing lunch plate. Fetching laundry from the basement and folding that load.

Watching Open Range h. is giving me a run down of the various guns they are using. I enjoyed P.B.S. of travels in Africa earlier after a time out from T.V. to get a bit of quiet and clarity.

Dd15 changed clothes 3 times getting ready for church. :D
She was very happy to get back to church, which she has missed for a few weeks. She made "BFF" declarations with our oldest members, and had face-making contests with the primary grade SS class. Dd is a one-of-a-kind at our church, that unfortunate person who happens sometimes in a small church, who has no one near her own age. It's been like that most of her life, so she's "everybody's". Looks like our minister's wife is doing well.

Compliments on dd's hair today were over-the-top, btw. She walked in an unknown, partly because she was wearing a new dark double-breasted coat that made her look tall. Many heads turning, getting ready to greet her in the fellowship hall, turned into gushing quickly. Thankfully she catches on that these folks are like family, not critics, lol, or she would give up school for a modeling career right away.

Thanks, OKay. Very much appreciate all hair-care insight. I looked at your link and saw on the left hand side that the exact product comes in "color care" version, which I would like to try. I checked here, and back on Feb 19 2012 I was telling lucylee I'd switched from L'Oreal EverPure Sulfate Free to "Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care with Lower Sulfates". I said back then, "After 3 uses, I'd say It seems to improve/soften the texture of my hair, which had gotten a little straw-y over the last 5 or so years, possibly a result of coloring, but more likely of being older, or the hypothyroid thing." In the meanwhile, I have tried Pantene Age Defy, and was pleased for a short time, but I guess not in the long term, since I'd gone back to the Suave Keratin. Will definitely try your recommendation (in the color care version) soon.
