Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
Oy, didn't expect the work of hanging up stamp racks and stuff in bonus room to take so long! Chatty bunch here. I am going to have my lunch, then hopefully will be able to head out to p/u meals and get to dmom's.

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
Popping in - just took an hour for lunch and an episode of Middlemarch. Went to moms group this a.m. and got home late after chatting and cleaning up. I did get paperwork for GG's travels with us sent off today. Dh scanned a couple forms for me this morning.
Yesterday, it took me 1.5 hours to shovel the driveway - and clear off my car. I can feel my arms a little today, but my back was sore yesterday. I need to start exercising again; my back does well when I'm exercising regularly. Shoveling with Maia lasted all of about 4 minutes. I couldn't get anything done with her out with me; she was a little puppy windmill, always right where I needed to shovel, jumping at the shovel when I lifted it, biting it when she could. . . I took her inside and told the girls not to let her out.
Dh wants me to arrange for swimming with the manatees and then change our hotel reservations accordingly. I just mapped out the location and it is not close to Orlando as dh's secretary had told him. It is 100 miles from our hotel near Disney. SO, I may book a nearby motel for one night just for this, but I want to confirm with dh first.
We will have 11 for dinner tonight, the 5 of us plus the regular Thursday dinner crew of 2 couples - S and R and the physics profs. Dh invited his 2 main post-doc guys over as well and they accepted.
One is dh's lead research scientist who was my point person in figuring out who from his group to invite to the party. Both of them are very friendly guys. I'm making my Indonesian peanut chicken recipe that I have altered, rice, bread. I believe S is making veggies and possibly Korean noodles, which would be good since the lead guy is Korean. The other is Chinese - from Malaysia. I think they'd appreciate S' noodles. . .
Afternoon plans: get the house a little spiffed, finish laundry project, exercise.
Girls should be home soon.

After the guy left, I went upstairs and unloaded two more boxes of stamping/crafty stuff. It all needs to be better organized, but just getting it out into the open is invigorating. I need to head out on rounds now - p/u dmom's meals and then to there to organize meds for the week, then grocery and home again. My house is something of a mess; will need to straighten up later or in the a.m.

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
x loaded dw and running it
x bread is kneading in the breadmaker
x talked to dgirls, called dh; made reservations to swim with the manatees! I'll get a motel reservation nearby later.
x emailing with dfriend, pastor's wife and chair of the moms group teaching team, re: what to do about the steering comm. meeting tomorrow a.m if there is a windchill day tomorrow.
We've had 4 snow/windchill days so far this school year. Schools close if windchill is below -20*. We have 2 more days to use. We got about 5 inches snow earlier this week and schools did not close during that storm.
Now, I'm going to change my clothes and go to the gym! I'm actually looking forward to this.

Exercised/walked away the pounds 15 minutes +
This is the first time this year I have put together 4 DAYS STRAIGHT. In January, I "walked away the pounds" 11 days, but never more than two days in a row.
I am hoping to do better this month, and hoping I can avoid "breaking the chain." Tomorrow & Saturday will be challenging, b/c we have plans w/ds--ddil-- dgs both days. And then of course, Sunday is challenging, b/c it is VERY hard for me to get out of bed in time to exercise before s2s & church.
But I am sorta invigorated, as Twins said earlier about her project!
Need to call dmom.
I think I'm going to file it and forget it on some of the daily stuff today. I kinda outdid myself yesterday anyway, and now I'm all clean and don't want to get sweaty again.
I started reading The Inferno by Dan Brown last night. He is an amazing writer, IMHO... Once I get started, it is almost impossible to put his books down. Fascinating (and frustrating!) b/c so many of the things he talks about are true, real places/works of art, etc... but then you know a lot of can't possibly be true... and he is weaving all this conspiracy theory together, which makes you wonder... but I still love to read his stuff. And it is certainly moving faster than the Mary Poppins biography; that's for certain.

Hmmm... realizing I spelled invigorate incorrectly here the other day with an e rather than an i. Or so I think I remember. . .

I never penalized my students if they caught a mistake that I missed while grading. So you're in luck, helia -- no penalty.

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
Safe in the b&b in Wellington. Hilly city. There are a lot of hills in my future. Actually, quite worried about this.
On the other hand, I've got high speed internet and a place to stay which is more than I might have had. There's also a cruise ship in town today so the city centre is busy despite it being the Friday after a Thursday public holiday (so most people took the day off work.) They expect 30K extra people in town.
An example - the b&b is on the side of a hill. There are 30 steps up to get to the road from the front door and 13 down to my bedroom (from the front door.) On the other hand, we have a stunning view of the water, so I guess I'll just sit here for the next few hours and look at it.

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
3,000th thread! WOWIE-ZOWIE!
That's wonderful, Everybody! How many years did it take to get to 3,000?
Just "curious", as I wasn't here yet, at the Villager.
It was 25* when I got up at 8 a.m. It's a freezing-temps day today, will be cold tonight, with forecast snow Saturday afternoon. Sunday brings rain! YEAH!
And warmer temps, too. Will be so glad of that. My hands get so dry, they crack, so use an antibiotic ointment and Latex-free (am allergic to Latex) band-aid. But all is well today with the hands, because I've been using more hand lotion.
Nancy, the radio news said you were super cold over there, on your side.
What's your temp today?
Dee, Last night, after I turned off my computer, I realized (I think!) I forgot to say I was praying for your DH, so I've been saying prayers for him on and off since last night and today. Hope the procedure goes well for him.
I walked 30 min., did yoga stretches, am on lol #2, and put out hot spots, read on Job (Biblical man) and writing letters. Am timing sitting time, because of leg pain setting in, so must sign off now.
Everyone, have a wonderful afternoon!

Re: Three Thousandth Thread Thursday
Back from the gym. Did the elliptical for 30 minutes and actually got hot and sweaty - which used to never happen. That means I'm out of shape compared to where I used to be. I walked there and back. Roads are awfully slick. But it is still light!
Ah, thank you lucylee!
Well, I'm not keeping up with you all very well. . . I see from Ivy's post that Mr. Dee has something going on today. . .Hope the procedure went well!
I remember when you booked that room, Kathryn. You told us rooms were hard to find b/c of some event that was bringing in crowds of people.
Off to:
- make my bed
- update laundry
- start rice cooker
- cut up chicken
- tidy coffee table and granite table
- mix peanut sauce
My goal is to have these things done by 6:20 so I can do a quick vacuum of the living areas. Might be kind of tight.
I should eventually change back into real clothes as well. Dinner guests are arriving around 6:45.
