Re: Serene and calm Saturday
A busy weekend here with a little much social interaction for me. I'm trying for serene and calm in the face of busy-ness and people.
Last night services at temple and dinner there. We had a guest speaker so I made him welcome and also went and sat and talked to a prospective member and her kids for awhile. Will be glad when it's not my "duty" to do those things.
Today it's dog PT for dMacs and then a fundraiser/auction thing tonight. We have a table apparently, and several friends are joining us, including dfriends who went to the beach last summer with us. Today is her BD so dh has suggested us meeting them for a drink before the fundraiser. And tomorrow I have two a.m. meetings at temple - one at 9:30 and another at 11, I think. Since dh and I ate out on Thursday, this will be the third night in a row we've been out.
Meant to post a little about Thursday at dmom's.....I just kept telling myself that "I'm not a crabapple." Finally got her blood sugar tested; I don't know anything about the meter or testing because she's always done it. So she started testing but got an error message about a mismatch - we finally figured out that she needed to take out the little white code thing and insert the new one, then couldn't get it to fit and thought we had wrong strips. She finally got it inserted (I was afraid to push it too hard) but some where in the process she had opened up the back and turned the battery over so it still wouldn't work. Finally at long last got it squared away and tested and it was in an okay range for an hour or so after she ate....but I kept it together and didn't let it upset me.
Immediately after, tho, it was nice to go have dinner with dh and a glass of wine.
I need to get the day rolling.
-breakfast
-meds/vitamins
-wash face, brush teeth, get dressed et al
-start a lol?
-make the bed

Re: Serene and calm Saturday
That's a quote worthy of remembering, Twins' Mom. Austen has a long and lingering influence. I have heard about Jane Austen several times lately. I posted in the reading thread here the name/author of the new non-fiction book I saw was out, since others here enjoy Austen novels. And in my researching of creative ways to make bookmarks lately, I saw pages of an un-redeemable Austen book (or photocopies?) used as the background on which to draw (or otherwise affix images?) characters from her books, and then cut out into bookmark shape, with stronger backing.
Kathryn, so he missed getting this money back because he just couldn't wait long enough for those supposed to give it to him to be present? This is probably simplistic, but could you and/or dh go to the lobby of that place and explain you are there to receive the return-of-deposit of Mr. d.s. inCanada, and offer your identification?
We all slept long and awoke late. Tobias was dismayed.
I already had the start of a 5x5, so will be on my way:
make online order
Desk Day for parents' household
Call dstepdil to make plans
work WITH
my child to clean
A load of laundry left in the dryer - WAY not my style, but thankfully not a problem if these wrinkle. Just too tired last night to keep up with everything. I did get all the dishes done.

((((Twinsm)))
Dove that happens to me a lot about thinking of some thing to say in response to a post and then it seems to evaporate when I read the next one.
I did hens chores before chcecking bs snow removal was involved so that effects my # . More to do but waiting for day light. 2"of fresh powder and it is still snowing lightly under an advisory until ten this morning. So that is today's exercise again. I fell asleep during opening of Olympics but caught the best parts. Went to bed early.
I need to set up the area for the new chicks before the 18th. Cutting down the flock size 6 this time instead of ten. Can you believe we have 18 !?

I think I've missed what's going on with Kathryn's Ds? Is he heading back to CA or somewhere else?

Re: Serene and calm Saturday
Had thought about going with dd to Bradenton today, but decided against it as 1) I'm not feeling all that well and I'm real good friends with the bathroom and 2) decided I already had too much going on for the next 3 days. So dd is going alone & going to mutual friends to give her a carved/painted dragon fly as a hostess gift from Thanksgiving Day. Dsonil does such a wonderful job! It's amazing to see.
Supposed to have lunch after church tomorrow with dfriends from IN. He was pastor of our church up home for a few years in the late 70's and we've remained close ever since. They're here visiting her brother. Then Mon we leave for Disney and dd will pick up DS-A & family at the Sanford airport a little after 10pm. Tuesday we're going to Magic Kingdom for the day. Hope I survive.
DDIL#2 sent me a picture of dh holding a sleeping dgs18months this morning. Just know dh "hated" that.
Went out to get some steps on and raindrops were falling on my head, so will try to get lots in during the day inside.
DD got another phone call late last night. GD15 was in yet another fight (she was the aggressor) over who got in the shower first.
Think that's 4 in 8 days. She's supposed to be working toward the privilege of their valentine dance next week. Hmmmmm.....NOT.
DD had thought today was family fun day at gd's residence. But it's not until next Sat. So she told them she would not be able to attend as she has non-cancellable commitments for the next 2 Saturdays. But she'll go today for visitation.
Wondering too about K&K's ds.

Yes, or could you call and leave an address where they can mail the deposit, Kathryn? Even if it is in the wrong currency, depending on ds' next plans, maybe you could get it changed. . . It seems odd, even irresponsible, for him not to get his deposit back just b/c someone was out of the office.
Last night was OK. I'm glad I got to hear dfriend, but I won't plan on this every month. I chatted for a long time with one woman who was in the deacon/elder training class with me last semester.
Dd15 has been deposited at synchro. I have emailed dfriend B and in so doing, I detailed this coming week a bit -- and realized how full it will be.
I have my usual commitments of tutoring 2x/week (3 hours, T and F), moms groupTh, Heb. class M, driving dd15 around, M-Sunday. Then, I am doing marching band uniform returns which will require me to be at the school at least 7.5 hours total M and T, possibly coming in W as well. I have a haircut in neighboring village Th. after moms group, which will take 2 hours with driving time. I am meeting with my mentoree student Th. afternoon, dd15 has a synchro meet T. evening which I'll attend -- and an orchestra concert Th. evening as well. I might meet with 2 moms from moms group to pray about something W. morning. . . And dh will be out of town this week. And I'll also be prepping to leave town next Saturday. Ack!! I'll breathe deeply and take one day at a time. Serene and calm. Yes - that would be good. I'll start practicing that today.
Today's tasks and goals:
- dd15 to and from synchro
- groc. store run, not a big one
- make salad for small group
- change one hotel's reservation by one night; make another near the manatees
- gym
- laundry catch up
- transport dfriend (single mom and dd4) to and from small group; her car is not working -- it is not clear if she is doing something about it??
- small group tonight

We're missing you at Disney by a couple days, Dee! We'll visit the parks Th. and F. We need to figure out fast passes and all that. I think we'll skip Epcot since we're all pretty well-traveled/international anyway. I think we'll do The Magic Kingdom just b/c it is the classic one. Then, there is some talk about MGM vs. Universal Studios? I think one of those is not Disney, though. We will be staying near Disney; I think we're in a Disney resort. . . . All new to me!!

Re: Serene and calm Saturday
Twins Mom, I love the quote. Copied it to put above my desk.
I should be rooted to my desk chair. That's where I spend most of my time. It's getting annoying that it takes me so long to keep up on the paperwork around here.
2 hours spent there this morning so far. Bills paid. Statement changed. Conversation with DH about why he doesn't get paypal receipts for me, which causes me to miss stuff for a customer's statement. Contl P too much bother, ok we'll just eat those costs.
I hope my conversation with him has changed those habits.
Need to look at those taxes I picked up, get ready to mail.
Another grey day. But it's 72°, just lovely temp outside. Would be nice at a theme park, not too hot not too cold.
Going to look into my fabric stash, see if I have something I can use to recover the office chair arm. It's all shredded.
