Went out and had car window replaced - took about an hour and I had taken my iPad with a book on it so I could read while there. Went on to the mall and treated myself to a nice "card wallet" that was 25% off because I "liked" the business on Facebook. It will hold my drivers license and credit cards and is small enough to slip into my pocket with a little cash when needed. Just the beginning of feeling "whole" again. I also bought some needed new foundation and a lipstick to replace the one that was in my purse. Looked at new purses but I consider that an investment that I need to research.

Trying to figure out what to do with what's left of the day. Maybe take Moe for a walk at the place we went on Sat? or go upstairs and try to clean up/straighten up crafty stuff?

Well, I have had a busy day --
-- Dmil called, woke me up, wanted to double-check what day we were celebrating dbil's birthday... (Wed.) (We made these plans last night.)
-- Back to sleep, dh's friend called. I didn't even answer the phone.
-- Back to sleep, dmil called, wanted to tell me there is still stomach virus at the nursing home, she will not be joining us tomorrow night when dh/ds sing. (I'm not going either; ddil wisely doesn't want us to take dgs.)
-- Back to sleep -- I know... should have given up entirely.
-- Up at my normal time, and ** TA-DA **
-- exercised
-- s2s, etc.
-- stripped bed, sheets in washer
-- bank (surprised they were open)
-- auto parts place for headlight on van
-- oil change for van
-- called allergy doctor for refills
-- talked to dmom, who is not going to funeral visitation tonight b/c she does not feel well

* sigh *

Did I tell y'all about this funeral visitation? It is from 5-7 tonight and the funeral itself will be at 7:00 P.M. THEN, they are having a private burial tomorrow. This is almost unheard of around here -- a night time funeral. I don't know why the family chose to do it this way.
DH is kinda grumbling b/c we are going, especially now that dmom has declined, but I guess I have my dad's sensibilities about it all... it is my first cousin's wife's father. Like dmom, we have never laid eyes on the man or his wife, or anyone else in the family except dcousin's wife. However, dcousin's wife has always been sooo good to me, to jump right in with party planning in all this stuff I've had to do the last few years, etc... so I definitely feel some of us should make an appearance. We are not staying for the funeral. Dmom did order an afghan from the florist from all of our little family and duncle/aunt.

DS & dgs are going with us; ds sorta has my ddad's sensibilities, too, and then we'll eat supper together. Ddil has to work.

Glad you're getting things sorta headed back to normal, Twins...

And so glad HRH is feeling better!

Two questions --
I never saw anyone's answer to my earlier question re: bathroom mats surrounding toilet -- better for men w/stray aim, or just something else to clean?
Buttermilk -- how long is it good after "sell by date"? (It has been opened for about 2 weeks, I guess.)

Lucylee: I ditched the mat around the toilet when I realized that was what was adding to the smell in the kids bathroom!

No idea about buttermilk. I now 'make' my own using milk and vinegar.

Stayed for ages at choir practice, visiting with the family. Lots of hugs for us and we gave them their gifts. Funny - I don't buy gifts for my own kids when I travel....

Got home, visited with a neighbour, started dinner. Working on learning how to cook. First lesson - remember to put away the ingredients or else they might spoil if they are left on the counter for hours.

Need to put on leg warmers. My feet and ankles are sore.

Have booked a viewing of an apartment for tomorrow. Need to make up a viewing checklist and a wish list for the agent.

Hi everyone!

Mike and I had a very productive day cleaning as we listened to music. I did the dreaded ceiling fixtures in the hallways and pulled everything down from the top shelf of the closet and put it all back. Mike dusted (with a s wiffer cloth as per my strict instructions that dusting is not done with tissues.)

While we were doing that, we had a cottage roll boiling away in the kitchen. Mike boiled a cabbage and some potatoes to go with it.

A very productive day here for a change.

I just heard from Harmony a little while ago. She is still in hosp with dh. Dh operation is over. He is in lots of pain, but they will control with meds. He might be in hosp for 2 or 3 days.

Lucy, I didn't see your questions - I skimmed posts quickly, so must have missed. Anyway -- re: **bathmats....I like the look of a matching bath set, but I think it is easier and quicker to mop the floor, especially around commode, rather than washing rugs every week. ** Buttermilk....can't help you there --- it never lasts that long around here.

I went with dh this afternoon for his INR appointment. Numbers are finally back in the acceptable range, although nurse still wants to see him in one week to make sure. We also stopped at drug store to pick up a form to have primary dr. fill out. Apparently Medicare needs this faxed to them so they will cover his testing supplies. Tomorrow is p.t. in the morning. Then on the way home we will stop at dr. office to have them fill out the paperwork. Not sure what we will do after that.

When we came home I spent a little time at my desk for paperwork and bills.

Quick CI. Waving hello to Everybody, too. This will be a CUOP.

The winds Sunday/last night got up to 50 m. p. h. We have a very tall silver metal chimney on a very tall peaked roof. The wind blew off our chimney cap, banged it all up, so when we get money ahead, we'll get a new one and get it installed. Over 2" of rain within 48 hours hit, wet driveway, and branches all over it. DH cleaned them up.

I stripped the bed, have clean sheets waiting, but put pillowcases on. I've been slowly getting ready for a visit to 97 1/2-year-old BFF's house tomorrow.

Got the middle shelves of the fridge wiped down.
Last of the laundry is done.

I wiped down part of the lower cabinets.
Spiffed more on the counters.
Winds are still howling here. Hope you all have calmer weather where you are.

exhausting 48 hours with stressful family happenings. We are backed into a corner and doing things that we dont want to. More later.

I just took few minute break and used it to CUOP. Gotta get LO homework done, book read, bath and into be in the next 30 minutes. Won't happen that quickly but the sooner we get started the sooner we will get finished.

Got some stuff put away. Started laundry. Mike had run out of something, so I did a load for him. Also doing work paperwork tonight.

Watching Master Chef Canada. Tonight is burgers, but not beef.

Thanks for the input, ladies!! I guess dh wins this one (about the bathmat) -- he said it was just extra to clean and would hold odors, too.
The buttermilk... dmom says surely it will be fine tomorrow, even though it has been opened. I'll still have some to throw out b/c I've only used about 2 cups from a half gallon -- for cornbread. I've got to start making cornbread regularly, to use up all this cornmeal and shortening from Thanksgiving -- but everytime I make it, it means I have to have eggs and buttermilk -- so then some of those items go to waste, too, so it's a no-win proposition. Except I do love cornbread.

Back from the visitation. Forgot to tell dcousin-in-law that dmom didn't come b/c she was not feeling well. * sigh * We (dh/ds/I) all agreed later that had the tables been turned, dmom would likely have forgotten to make my apologies, however.

Now... need to get sheets back on the bed and type administrative council minutes. I'll do that first since I'm sitting right here at the computer anyway.
