Its officially the last day of summer here today - last hours in fact.
I had my mower returned today, with enough fuel in the tank to mow much of my long driveway. I have that messy bit under driveway trees yet to do. Its not as fast as I think it should propel, but maybe its good for both me and the grass to go at that speed. I tied up the catcher door and just let the clippings drop. The grass is sparse enough after the little summer rain I don't think its a worry. Tomorrow I will buy fresh petrol and do some more. I just put a little fuel in the tank and stop when its done.
Do you have a special task you want to make a move on today?

Re: Last of February Friday
I'm up and at it.
Lots of paperwork goals for today, plus my day ends at 3 when I have to start working for the chili supper at the church.
Got up around 6:30 and have made the bed (oops, I should have stripped and remade it, oh well) and then we rushed around and got garbage and recycle out. I have about 7 garbage days between now and moving (garbage is picked up every second week) and haven't taken full advantage of the year of garbage removal I had. My goal had been an extra bag each time (30 extra bags) but I failed on that about half the time. So I'm sure garbage will be an issue. I will look up our regulations and see how many bags I'm allowed and make that maximum my goal from now on.
I have to keep giving myself a break and remembering I was very sick last summer so lost about 8 weeks to that, another 6 to travel and the month of December to Christmas.
Dh asked about moving for April 1. I told him NO! that is 4 weeks away. Seriously, that man is calendar challenged. So now he's pushing for May 1 which is barely doable but doable. The whole waiting until June was to give us a month to move before the others moved in the summer but if they aren't taking the house, we can move earlier.
I have an important deadline to meet for today but first I need to work out. And eat. I'm starving this morning.

Re: Last of February Friday
Good morning! Sunshine here - and bitter cold. Schools are in session though, it's not that cold. Dd15 is staying home for a few hours. We were home from the meet around 10:40pm last night. She showered all the knox gelatin out of her hair and was ready to start her 3 - 4 hours of homework at 11 pm. But her eyes are so sensitive to chlorine - and synchro. swim routines must be done w/out goggles and w/ eyes wide open, that she was just sitting in the chair tearing up constantly. She couldn't even see very well. . . (This was an improvement over one point during the meet when I was told by another parent, her eyes were closed and she really couldn't see at all - and one of the girls had to lead her around the pool deck.) SO, dh told her she could stay home today. She is working on hw right now and wants to go to school around 10:30 ish.
Despite the eye troubles, she loves synchro! Her team did well, was only #3 out of 4 teams, but that is pretty standard. They have a small team, only 11 girls. These other teams are ginormous. The school that usually wins 1st place (from a very wealthy community about an hour away) got 2nd, and the other in -town high school w/ a synchro team (their fierce competitors in many areas, but their allies in this sport) won 1st place - and that tickled the girls. They did win 1st place for their team routine, and they are very proud of that, as they should be. It was a difficult active routine w/ 4? lifts in it. All but 1 went very well. The best part - it is now over for the year!
We get dd15 back! Her coach is toying with the idea of starting a private team with practices at the Y, and dd15 would like to try that out - if it isn't too time intensive. That starts in April.
I've been informed this morning that dd18 has a friend joining us for dinner and sleeping over - and dd15 also has a friend joining us for dinner and sleeping over. So, we will have a small colony of teenage girls in our home tonight. It will be SO nice to finally have dd15 join us for a Friday dinner! For any dinner this week, in fact.
I need to finish up the tasks I set out to do earlier this week, namely laundry. I also want to clean the girls' bathroom; it is pretty bad. Also on the agenda: WW at 9:30, a quick Tarjay run, tutoring prep, tutoring at 3, those paperwork tasks, etc.
Drinking tea - need to make progress on the a.m. routine.

Re: Last of February Friday
I need to be out of the house soon to go meet with the rabbi.
I assume he has something he needs to discuss since he was pushing to meet this week. Dmacs has PT at 11 today in place of his usual Saturday PT.
I need to give ddogs meds, change clothes and get out the door.
Dh mentioned leaving here around 4 or 4:30 and I told him I didn't know if that was possible. I need to do some clean up here from last night's little party, and need to write for temple bulletin and do some stuff to include in the bulletin, and write instructions etc and email our dog/house sitter....
Busy busy. So much to do when I get back also.

Re: Last of February Friday
Good morning, villagers ~
Thanks for opening the thread, Lynlee.
If I had opened, my title would have been, "Wait -- How did it get to be Friday already?!"
I managed to run several errands yesterday. Bitterly cold outside, but the sunshine was wonderful and the fresh air smelled so good.
Kathryn ~ Maybe a neighbor would let you add a bag to their garbage each time? Would there be any extra room in the church's bin? What would be the cost of a small dumpster, which might be quite a bit easier to fill than worrying about timing and carrying out multiple bags for pickup?

How did it get to be the end of the month already? Where did the time go. Where did the WEEK go?
Yesterday was a day of office work on same project with many pitfalls along the way. It really was stressful. I still am not done. What is wrong with the working world? There is no customer service anywhere anymore.
I managed to get to the Rehab late afternoon. DH is just "keeping on keeping on". We don't have an end date yet. His roommate is very sick, possibly, probably terminal, so it's sorta sad. I can tell it bothers DH.
I brought home clothes and I have a LOL going, will hang some up and put DH's clothes in dryer to take back today. I got backed up on dishes and have dishwasher running also.
Did something stupid last evening, after eating something fell asleep on couch and tried to rouse myself all night and couldn't so slept all crunched up on couch in clothes with no meds...so today I don't feel rested.
Lilac, hope you have a nice trip. DH will never throw in the towel as you say, because his life view of himself is to never retire. He will probably leave the world in the middle of a job someday.
Ivy, I hope they were able to fix your washer.
I have 3 DPCalls to make. I need to finish this office work and move on.

Re: Last of February Friday
Home again - ended up telling temple secretary I would have to call/email her later instead of sticking around to talk. She walked in just as I was heading out, but the rabbi had dibs on her because he couldn't print to the network.
I had forgotten when I posted earlier that I'm also taking dinner to a bereaved family before we leave today. I just took their veggie lasagne out of the freezer, I will bake challah, take bagged salad, feta, sliced almond and craisins to add to salad with purchased dressing, and take leftover cookies from last night's party here. I need to call/email them this morning to set up timing.
DMacs needs to be at PT at 11 - I need to get challah started and contact these people before I head out with him. Also need to clear back seat of my car and pack his treats...

Re: Last of February Friday
I was just catching up on a blog from someone who loves 1940s fashions. Found this fun sign in one of her photos:
Everything in Moderation*
(*except for: fun, parties, Frisbee, chocolate, kittens, booze, biscuits, laughing, dancing, & cheese)
Note that this was on a British blog, so for Americans, "biscuits" translates to "cookies."
