Suddenly Saturday

Hmmmm, I guess I've been productive. Two loads of laundry washed, one dry, one waiting to be hung up.

Finished the service for tomorrow. This one is all 'me' (I wrote it all, just not all this year.) Picked the music. Practiced the two anthems for the morning services, pulled the music for the afternoon service (dh has to practice that with me.) Also printed off the second hymn (which isn't in their books but they'll know it so it can be follow-along.)

Finally, I've found out the music for World Day of Prayer and practiced a new hymn to us for the 9th (I'm singing the counter-point, I think, so had to learn that bit, now waiting for the minister to tell us what she expects.)

Finally finished the council minutes & sent them off to church secretary. Had quite a time getting my printer to work & then get minutes in correct order, making sure I had everything.

Eating some of dh's rice pudding for lunch. Tummy has been 'off' since yesterday afternoon. DH would like to go to the Home 'n Garden show at the civic center but depends on me.....

Breaded, baked chicken breast filet's were delicious, broccoli from the garden, baked potato with sour cream. I sat down and ate and enjoyed it all! Another potato is baked and 2 more pieces of chicken ready for Sunday and Monday.

DSisilaw came with wheelchair. I didn't say much, but the wheelchair is one of those "movers" one uses to just get a person from one spot to another. It's tiny, feet pedals non adjustable and likely too short for DH, it's light and picks up easily and folds easily, but don't know how useful it would be for him. Small size wheels wouldn't roll over the threshhold at front door. She surely meant well.

Also ate up a bunch of my too-little time. We were measuring rooms, etc., as she is wanting to build a tiny house for herself and is making plans. She liked our office bathroom.

Some stuff I got done:
Picked produce from garden. Broccoli some had flowered. Made a dish of sliced vine ripe tomatoes to take in with me. Watered some bushes and veggie garden.

Got the heat rollers in.
Washed and hung up 6 sheets that had been outside for plant coverings. Big pile left to do.
Dishwasher emptied, cutting boards scrubbed, bleached, can't seem to get dark spots off, put them in dishwasher. Maybe need new?

Everything seems in a partially-done state around here. It's annoying to me. I would work the rest of the day but I need to go in now.

Sunny, sorry I didn't call. I figured you were keeping up reading here. Like my kids would tell me: "Keep up, Mom, Keep up!"

Even the small wheels on the front of a classic wheelchair can get stuck on thresholds and small bumps in the road along the way. If the wheelchair is being pushed by someone, there are 2 spots on the back of the frame near the floor that the pusher can press down on slightly and gently to bring the back of the chair down, so the front goes up and over the bump. I usually press down on the left side with my left foot while I'm still "pushing" (with a slight stop at the bump) the chair with both hands. It's easy once you get used to doing it.

When a client comes out in one of those "transfer" chairs, I usually groan inside my head. They aren't great, but because they are the cheapest 4 wheel manual chair, a lot of people get them. What's really unfortunate is that most people don't use a comfortable cushion for the rider's bottom, so the person in the chair feels every little bump along the way.

Wanting to say hi. My life is in "too much input" mode.

Wheelchairs - our situation with little old house for dear aunts was that a transfer wheelchair allowed travel into tiny hall, then turns through tiny doorways. Most homes built recently have large enough doorway width that better choices can be made. In relation to Mr. Harmony, though, those were very small ladies, not the same. Cathy would be expert at managing wheelchairs.

Odor in jeans - best other ideas from me, baking soda in the wash, long hang outdoors with hopefully some way to hold open (each part of fabric held away from each other for air circulation). Oh, reading back I see you've already thought of baking soda. Febreeze insists their product gets rid of odor. As long as you knew jeans were cleaned (yes) adding Febreeze shouldn't be a problem against skin.

Also to "flea" market with HRH and we don't care for fleas either. Hoped for a few small pieces of furniture for certain spots to help with storage but all we found was one glass to match our drinking glass set. Then to grocery, which was really all we'd had time for anyway.

Dee, I'm so sorry it has gotten to point of restraining. They have to do the best they can, of course. All best wishes to dd.

Cathy, estate work is more extensive than I used to think. I have been surprised by all the little twists and turns of it. I was supposed to be finished by now, but not so. Today, for instance, a refund to my ddad arrived, which I did not know was to happen. Tax folks had surprises filing his '13 income tax form (you can't e-file for a deceased person any longer) and on phone I just found out lawyer's previous bill was not the final bill, LOL. I had missed that final-bill concept. They makes lots and lots of hourly dollars, btw. Lots. I would highly doubt there's anyone who wouldn't be surprised, unless they dealt with lawyers often. And mine is a small-town lawyer.

Productive afternoon.

Picked up the mail on the way out and found the cheque for the unpaid invoice (from September.) Yay, finally there's money in the corporate bank account!

Picked up Surfer Dude and had lunch and a long chat about his plans to go to Germany. He wanted to pay for his lunch but we wouldn't let him. And then dh found a 5 Euro note in his wallet and gave that to SD "to get you started on your way." He wanted to buy it from us but again, we wanted to give it to him. He is more like a nephew to us than our blood nephews so deserves to be treated well.

Next up was a stop at the Moving and Storage company for pricing. Then on to the bank and back home.

I did up the dishes while CF came over to discuss buying the house. He gave us the full details of the situation, including the news that it will be 50 days until he knows his financial status. He had gone from financial ruin to within 2 months of being square with creditors and a down payment saved up to buy a house, when he learned a mistake by the trustee has reset the whole process. His creditors can come after him now for everything he has saved up and anything he owns (he made the last payment on his van in January.) All this over a missed $300 payment (he sent the cheque, the trustee didn't forward it, CF didn't catch that the cheque had not been cashed.)

If he truly loses everything, the house sale is off. So we are waiting to see how much the creditors take. Under the old agreement, they are owed $600. But since the old agreement is now dead, they can demand up to 6 figures because of interest and penalties piled on top of the original debt.

My heart breaks for him. For them.

Fortunately, dh feels the same. We've always said this is about character and not financial net worth so we are going to ride this out with them and hold off on figuring out what to do with selling the house until well into April. To do otherwise would feel like 'piling on' and I can't believe God wants me to put my self interest above theirs. I trust that by waiting, God will provide a solution to all of this.

Dh and I had a dinner, a brief practice of tomorrow's music and then I did up the dinner dishes. Now I need to move back to my desk and get those bank accounts reconciled. I could understand CF not noticing if a cheque had cleared - I still have to reconcile October to March for one account and December to March for the other. And don't ask about the business bookkeeping. It hasn't been touched since April 1 last year.

I worked outside in the back yard this afternoon with dh. He mowed grass and I raked oak leaves. Looks a little better out there now. He was tired when he came in and has gone to lay down already.

Didn't see dfam#1 today. Ds had to work 11 am to 8pm and ddil and dgkids were in a walk-a-thon this morning for a service animal org. They had their lab with them and his original trainer flew in from TX to take part in this.

I sort of said yes to neighbours chickens, now its a definate no as I'd need a heap done to fences in a hurry. Their rental home was sold from beneath them and they are still in storage unit limbo waiting for owners of a potential pvt rental to get a place nearer their work to relocate to. I'm guessing they are going to bunk at relatives in the mean time. He is still thinking of wheres and how to work out the chickens, and removal of their pen across the fence to my driveway. One option yesterday was at a home with dogs that can't be trusted with chooks. Hoping they end up in a safe place.

Yesterday - talking to him, I walked backwards around electricity pole and tripped backward over water meter. Hurt lower back/pelvis area somewhat. It seems sometimes to not be sore today so thats an improvement. Msg to self. I am too old for this. No walking backwards not looking where I am going.

Yesterday - bought petrol for mower after going for bananas at markets. Left off being in a hurry to mow to let my backside recover, and walking become easier.

Back from town, store run done food put away. Got Rx going h.ngot his done. Hens are in for the night. Last load of laundry has been folded. Dinner done.

Done the updating of the accounts. Still have one bill to pay and 2 credit card statements to reconcile (they've come in since I got those caught up this week!) but the bank accounts are done now. Yay!

Can't do the budget until I get the investment accounts brought up to date. Looks like about 2 days work there. Once that's done, I'll have a better idea how we did last year financially and what our net worth is. Knowing that will make signing the lease a bit easier.

I spent time looking for other apartments to check out. Nothing yet. Some might show up next week as people gave their notice before March 1 for a May 1 departure.

Dh and I practiced our singing again. I'm starting to remember my Holy Ground harmonies so it sounds better each time. My throat is really sore, though, so I need to get to bed. There's a wicked cold going around the community and I might be getting it. Vitamin B and zinc for me before bed.
