Monday miscellany

Post by BookSaver »

Good morning, villagers ~

Re Coloring books ~ Dover Publications has all kinds of coloring books for all ages. You can even sign up for free samples. After receiving the free samples for a few weeks, you might have enough to not have to buy any books. 8-) However, their prices are always very reasonable.

Today's adventures:
* Eye appointment this morning for tests.
* Library meeting this evening.
* DH is taking the day off and wants to go to Sam's to look at computers. Both of ours are XP and need to be replaced before April 8. (We knew we'd be replacing his because it doesn't have the processing power to do what he needs for work. Replacing mine is a surprise, but I really can't risk the problems when MS stops doing support and security updates for XP next month.)
* Between the eye doctor & Sam's, we'll go out to lunch at the place that serves really good falafel, hummus, schwarma, and mediterranean salads. DH has not been there yet.

Thinking of (((Harriet))) and her family responsibilities this week.

Yesterday Bookie mentioned......
I thought I was being overly sensitive until a couple of the board members came up to me after the board meeting and said they want to resign right now. I hope I was able to soothe ruffled feathers. I agreed that we all were having kind of a rough transition, and asked them to give it a little more time to see if things will get better when we get some nicer weather.
This is an interesting issue Bookie, one that I am dealing with from one end, and dh from the other. I'm finishing my term as temple president and he just began a two year term as chair of f ederation board. He is having transition issues with his predecessor, who has been a close friend forever and whom I speak of as Realtor friend. Predecessor feels he wasn't consulted enough or given enough opportunity to "train" dh, perhaps. From the other end, I'm finishing my term and new very very bright president is stepping up and I'm thinking "Duh! WHy didn't I think of that?" And from my end, sometimes it feels like an affront when he wants to take on something that I didn't think needed fixing.

Anyway, transition issues are touchy in organizations and it sounds like your folks don't have an ounce of tact between them. I'm sorry it's hurtful and ugly. Would a private heart-to-heart with these folks help?

Today has turned out to be two funerals - one very large this morning, with sanctuary service, trip to cemetery, and back to temple for meal, the other a smaller graveside service at the cemetery of the other congregation. That will take the heart out of my morning and afternoon both.

I have a short list of stuff that could/should happen in between. Words with dh on Friday/Sat because we discussed me contacting a neighbor couple to see if we could get together for dinner over the weekend, and I zoned out and didn't do it. And often, I manage to forget a lot of those kinds of things. So reminder that something written left on my desk is best practice as a reminder, and for myself, I need a written to do list for most days, other wise I drift through. I'm remembering that when I worked, nonwork tasks often flew out of my head once I got focused there, and at the end of the day I'd realize I hadn't done this and that.

Need to get busy as I overslept, clock was set and I just couldn't get up. I have some soreness/stiffness from Sat fall in the creek. Funeral starts in 1.5 hours and I'd like to be there early.
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

I'm up and at my computer. I've exercised (but no physio stretches) and s2s. Bedroom is tidied. Dish drainer is emptied and put away. I've had my tea and chocolate but haven't eaten my cereal yet.

The kitchen is a disaster zone, not from dishes (they are under control) but paperwork and newspapers, a foam blocks project for the toddler area, and my preaching resource books. Dh has been watching movies in the living room so I couldn't use my desk in there. I moved my junk up here and things have gone downhill from there.

That will be a 15 minute focus and possibly a half hour tv show or two to finish making the blocks. They are just the upholstery foam, but in small blocks (done) and covered in duct tape. I've done 5, have at least 10 to do.

Oooo, the kitchen floor just crunched under my shoe - must add sweeping to my kitchen recovery list!

Great title for today! I will be doing a miscellany of tasks today.

Chiming in the coloring book for teens/adults discussion: I loved Dover coloring books as a teen. I would often get nature ones or history ones. I think my girls used to enjoy them as young teens. They might still enjoy but we just haven't gotten them any recently.

a.m. routine is well under way - but not complete.

Dh invited S and R over for dinner tonight, which I did OK - but we're just having leftovers. I'm trying to clear out my fridge + cupboard, so nothing special. It will be good to see them; S and the baby were out of town last week, and we didn't see much of any of them. I'm not doing Th. dinner this week b/c I have a make up Hebrew class and won't be home until close to 6:30 + dh will be out of town so he can't step in to help in the kitchen. I won't be home until close to 6:30 tonight, but dh will be around.

Today:
- a quick run for a few items at the groc. store; I need to clear out my fridge more before I make a big run. For some reason, dh and the kids brought home a lot of food from their ski trip.
- lots of Hebrew translation; I got about 18 verses done last week. Last class, we did 44 verses. That's a lot!! With class twice this week - that makes 90 verses. I do about 10-15/hour, depending on vocab used.
- more progress on book club book
- start breadmaker
- go for a . .. . JOG outside. It will be in the upper 40s today. I need to start exercising regularly and I do enjoy jogging more than going to the gym. I'm in such bad shape now that I might step back a bit and shorten my jog, but doing something will be much better than doing nothing. Also, I'm signed up for a 5K run first weekend of June.
- laundry
- dinner on the table: leftover pastas, perhaps make some fried rice, bread, salad.

Have a bunch of 'miscellany' myself to accomplish today. Dh has been for his walk. I'm 'sluggish' at best. Had a wonderful weekend with DS-R, DDIL & TJ-DGS9 (and dd). Trouble was Saturday morning I was awake at 3 and Sunday at 3:30 (which if figured on 'old time' was only 2:30 :? ). Tummy acted up during the weekend, so all in all I'm 'recovering' today.

Was so good to see the rest of our family this weekend. DS-R is one hurting puppy and probably did too much this weekend, while trying to protect his shoulder (he's the one who had such a rough rotator cuff surgery in January). He's trying to do everything right (as far as what the Dr tells him). Tells ddil he doesn't want to end up like "Mom" -that would be me I guess. Can't even as much as turn the radio dial in their vehicle with his arm yet (and it is right arm -of course!)

TJ did really well this weekend. He was pretty disappointed he didn't get "podium" in one final. He ran 5th (podium is for 1-5 places in each final) for most of the race ahead of a really good runner. He got TJ on the last of the last lap, which really wasn't surprising. But we were all so proud of him for doing as well as he did and the improvement over Saturday.

Took us 4 3/4 hours to get to J'ville & our hotel Friday night, but only 4 hrs & 10 min to come back with a stop at B King for supper! Was so nice to drive (most of the way) back in daylight. Was dark by the time we got home, but overall was good. Talked to DS last night and they were already in SC. Know weather toward 'home' is not supposed to be as good today and of course there's another storm headed their way on Wed.

Dh is ready to leave -will try to peek in later. Have a good day, taking care of all those 'miscellany'.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Hi everyone!

Mike and I were up until 3 a.m. booking excursions and indulgences online. Then we had to clear off the bed so we could sleep. I "pressed" some of his shirts and got quite a lot into all 4 cases. They seem full, but not everything is in, and both cases that I did weigh were under the weight limit.

Today we are headed out to go shopping for trip stuff and we will finish up with Mike getting his hair trimmed.

It took me a while, but I finally convinced Mike that going to a Chateau Neuf de Pape winery for a "tasting" would be something we should do. Mike loves red wines and he drinks a lot of wines from that region. We have never been to any ports in France before, so I want to do something memorable.

We are only at the point in the day were we are finally having our first tea and coffee. I will finish getting dressed after that.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good Morning!

I've been following schedule for the past 5 hours and feel good about accomplishments. Nothing spectacular - just the normal doings that only become memorable when they don't' get done. :)

Today is DH birthday. His DMom has called me at least a half dozen times over the past 12 hours about arraignments to celebrate. We can't give her a definite answer because MPB broke (bad) on Friday and DH wants to stay focused on getting it repaired. I think we have found a possible solution - We will be making the 2 hour trip for more MPB parts today (if they become available) and we intend to take DMIL with us to eat along the way. Phone calls made to find parts needed - we should know any moment.

Cards due today = 5
# Cards completed = 83
% Cards completed = 94%
Papers processed = 1

Hello dear ladies,

Warm and sunny here. 8-) 8-)

Wearing my sling and doing chores. 21 days until I'm sling free. :D

Will do exercises and shower when DH returns.

Have laundry going, unloaded dishwasher, rinsed off dishes and placed in dishwasher.

At work over the weekend I was given associate of the month plaque, I was so surprised!

Washer calls.

Will be back.
