Hello Dear Ladies,
Another sunny day but windy and it started off chilly.
Out of my sling, DH is out on service call but he feels like I'll be ok as long as I don't do chores.
Did do my exercises. Everything but the pulley. Listened to the Beatles, their early music, like "She Loves You, yeah, yeah yeah". Was so catchy, it was easy to move to and made me chuckle.
Trip to TX is moving along. Made reservations today for motel stay. DH is still negotiating with person but is leaning toward buying it. Has his phone number now so they can talk rather than just e-mail. Need to remind him to go to the bank today to move funds around as it may take a day or two and don't want to be stuck waiting for it to clear. Also find out if person is a business that takes debit cards or should we bring a cashier's check. DH wants to just bring cash, but I don't think that is wise.
Will talk to my boss today too, about getting removed from schedule. Otherwise I will just call in, but it will count against me.
Waiting and watching for all the pieces to fall into place.
Great day to all!

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
(((Harriet)))) you and family are on my mind this morning.
Sadie - glad to see things working out for your upcoming trip.
MT - I miss you posting!
Just saying.....
MPB is repaired & back in business! **VBSigh** of relief. With the main repairs done, the minor ones were quickly taken care of. DH made 3 trips up into the attic this morning to repair some random leaks. DH is running fever and feels generally yucky - probably from working too many hours under stress. Hopefully he can now relax a little and let his body rest.
This morning I started following schedule but after putting LO on the bus and taking care of CFO duties, I decided to chunk the schedule and switch to focusing on the 3D's. The kitchen was out of control and needed more focus than the schedule allowed. I spent TWO hours washing dishes
and doing general clean up. Also made a batch of chicken salad. I am sooooo glad I made this decision because DMIL dropped by for a visit and I was able to welcome her into our home without doing a stash-n-dash.

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
Desperately need BGS.
I have S2S and had lunch. Started dinner meat defrosting.
Made a mistake. Got a phone call from a young girl claiming to be calling from the electrical subcontractor to the company that put in the furnace. There needs to be an electrical inspection done on the work. The inspector is in the area on Thursdays.
Anxious to get this over with, and knowing I'd be home all day tomorrow because dh has the car, I checked with dh and arranged it. I did question why this is happening now and her best guess was that the permit had been randomly pulled for reinspection.
Got off the phone and neither dh and I felt right about it, him even less so since I'm home alone tomorrow. So we called the furnace company. They have no idea what's going on and agree this sounds suspicious and to not let the guy in.
Googled the name of the inspector (didn't not the subcontractor's name) and there is an inspector by that name working in dd's city as a consultant. The company says they do municipal consulting and supply inspectors when towns need extra help so I have a call into our city planning office to see if the guy is legit. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow, I'll put a sign on the door saying "Sorry, but I've been told not to let you in without confirmation from the furnace installation company or the city." And then not answer the door tomorrow.
Now, I'm all edgy about tomorrow. Life sucks sometimes.

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
Oh, ((Kathryn)). Could you be away from the house when the guy might come by? Or maybe that's not a great idea either if he is there with shady intentions. Just be safe. Maybe you could be inside distracting yourself with a movie or something fun.
((Nancy)) I originally missed that you lost a hen yesterday. Our 2hens have not stepped outside yet today - because of the snow on their steps. I'll go out and brush off the snow for them in a bit.
Main accomplishments so far today:
x made reservations for our small group at a State Park on the dates we had wanted. *phew* Quite the process
x met with ds who is doing well
I couldn't get back up my driveway after meeting w/ ds, so my car is parked on the street and I'm heading out to shovel next. That will be my exercise for the day. I don't like to use the snowblower. It looks like the snow is just about finished here.
GG is skyping with her friend in the living room; I could understand a couple comments she made earlier about school, helped a lot by my understanding of the context. I can understand a tiny tidbit every now and then.

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
Hello, villagers ~
I could not sleep last night so am having trouble moving today. Good things are 1) our temp is well above zero and, 2) although it is cloudy/gloomy right now, a few hours ago there was beautiful morning sunlight streaming into my kitchen.
(((Harriet)))
With Dee, I also appreciated the description of DS28 and the respect the firefighters showed to Joe by coming to the visitation in full dress uniforms.
(Kathryn) Sorry to hear about the apartment being in a smoking building. I hope you end up with really nice neighbors who will become good friends.

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
Home again and only about 1.5 hours before I head back out if I'm going to the meeting re: the trip to Israel.
This was lunch for four temple employees, rabbi and me - the owners of restaurant are members so gave us a discount but still expensive. I am stuffed. I wanted them to feel free to order dessert so I ordered for myself first.
(this is staff appreciation week - they had lunch brought in earlier in the week, and will receive gift cards for two for a meal at a local Italian restaurant where a member is manager.) Afterwards spoke to one of owner family for awhile, then stopped off a specialty shop that had all kinds of vintage and trendy house accessories.
Going to:
-deal with 10 pieces of paper
-outside retrieve plastic adirondack chairs & pillows that are blowing away
-make the bed
-fold the lol that didn't get folded before I left, and put away
-water pansies that I haven't planted, the water will help them not blow away

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
Deleted our additional Wed thread and I agree, helia, hold that title thought, because I need wisdom often.
((Kathryn)) the sign sounds smart. Don't let it worry you. I like "let's pretend I have a lot of hands".
Thanks everyone for kind words about my post last night - not sure I was making sense at the time. Felt all the good wishes today, believe me.
The funeral was simple, the message from Joe's pastor very down-to-earth and rustic, with fishing references. At graveside a lone kilted bagpiper played Amazing Grace while walking nearer the church, as the tartan was lifted from the casket. The weather was windy and threatening, but we did avoid the rain and it wasn't so cold that the wind couldn't be tolerated. Dd had thought she'd be overdressed in her long wool double-breasted coat but she was really the one who felt most comfortable, I think. Many from HRH's mother's family attended, which I thought was very respectful and sweet.
Thinking of dsisil, with her 5 hour drive back home alone. None of us liked that. But she can't stay away from work any longer.
Do have a headache/earache from the wind. Ouch. Would anyone be surprised if I napped? LOL. Let's hibernate.

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
I got up at 6 a.m., feeling puny (as Nancy puts it), but got in a nap. Later, when I came here at 12:43 p.m. I thought the opening for the day was "WHINING" WEDNESDAY WAYS!
I have done my fair share of whining to DH today, hence the "assumption" it was "whining Wed." today.
Kitty Cat and I saw the sunrise, the birds, chipmunks, and squirrels come to life. It's been so beautiful here today.
Harriet, Your DS sounded so handsome. (I like a man in uniform.)
Sadie, Safe travels to you and your family.
Have a good day, Everyone!

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
Taking a break from shoveling. This is fairly heavy snow as it's not too cold out there. It doesn't help that 3 cars have driven over it. I'm alternating wearing my hat and taking it off when I get sweaty. . . Maia has been energetically "helping" me the whole time. Slightly out of breath - this counts as exercise. I'll go out for another 30 minutes, then come inside to start the potatoes for dinner. Maybe I'll also finish the a.m. routine - what a thought.
I like your hope for Kathryn, Bookie - that maybe they'll find some good friends among the neighbors in the building.
Nap away, Ms. Harriet. Sweet dreams! I think your napping would relieve and please most of us here. The funeral sounds lovely.
Glad you got a nap too, Ivy. We all need to whine once in a while!

Re: WINNING WEDNESDAY WAYS
The sign seems like an extremely good plan, Kathryn. Glad you won't be letting him in. Sometimes things sound so right, then when we realize they're not.........
I understand that 'edgy' feeling too. I'm feeling it, thinking about all our loved ones & friends up north. Know DS-A is having a real tough time keeping it all together in the wake of the blizzard up there. I think about all the people without power in this or those who have to go out.
Texted DDIL#1 to ask her to let me know when she was home safe. She texted right back that she got home about 2. The courts closed early to try to get everyone home that they could. DDIL#2 texted that she actually was let go about noon, so she and DGS19months are home. I can feel the anxiety in my stomach and I definitely don't like it. I was listening to the radio from home and realized I needed to just turn it off.
Praying for all of you in any aspect of this storm to remain dry, safe and warm and with power.
Dh took our car and left it at the garage so mechanic can work on it in the morning. Hoping the repair isn't too terribly costly.
Got quite a bit of rain earlier but now the sun is out. Asked dd to stop and bring pizza home for dinner. I simply don't feel like cooking.
Went to lunch with friends from up home this afternoon. They wanted us to come back to their house, but dh really needed to get the car to the garage. Hoping maybe he can get it started this afternoon. Probably means a new radiator.
