Re: Thriving Thursday
Had two snacks (half grapefruit and a carrot.)
Made up the homemade bathroom wipes, re-covering one of the ice cream containers with sticky shelf paper.
I've also got the garbage out to the garage (still have to do compost and recycle stuff.)
Dh called and is one his way straight home. Exhausted. Tonight's dinner is leftovers so I'll make up a salad for him now and maybe some garlic bread.

Re: Thriving Thursday
It feels like this entire day has gotten away from me and it can't possibly be almost 7 p.m. here.
I spent awhile at dmom's - flipped through her mail and found a credit card bill that wasn't even opened....when I looked at it, it's due this Sunday, and there was a late fee on it from last month when it hadn't been paid on time. She is just very confused about some things that used to be routine - she couldn't remember how to call the bank to check her bank account balance and wanted to do that before paying the credit card bill. So I had to call the bank and get that info (I'm a co owner of the account but her statements don't have member numbers) but she did remember her PIN. So I checked the balances, then called back to transfer $$, then called to make a credit card payment. She said that dbro was supposed to call and pay credit card last month and apparently he either didn't do it, or it didn't go through for some reason when he did call. In some ways it's a good thing; I've been wanting to monitor her accounts since dbro uses credit card for groceries and drugstore and I didn't want to alarm her by asking for all that info. Like the POA, she still mostly believes there's not an issue and I don't want her to feel that I think she can't handle it.
I didn't finish a.m. routine today but I'm not going to sweat it. I need to feed ddogs, and I'm going to try to put down some Roundup and get my pansies into their front porch pots...
I still need to feed and walk ddogs. Will be a rough morning tomorrow because both are going to vet - dMacs for teeth cleaning and Moe for an ultrasound. No food after supper, and no water after 10 p.m. Macs will be indignant.
Kathryn, sorry that ds won't be home to help with the move. Nice that there is now TGF for him!

Re: Thriving Thursday
Hi again! I have spent much of the day procrastinating. However, I did finish a resume/cover letter for an opening at a company a friend works at. Unfortunately, I had problems midway. I contacted them to get them to delete the application so I can start over. I am off to the library to get my long awaited Dr. Who video and more books. Then it will be time for a church meeting, then dinner. Tomorrow, I will not be able to layabout, I am meeting the knit/crochet group in the morning. Lunch with friends is cancelled, so I will go home and do more job applications. In the evening, I will be taking DD12 to the Shrek musical. She is so-so about it, but I would really like to see it. It is high school students, so it will be cheaper, and we know the kid who is playing Shrek. Tomorrow, must file unemployment claim. Tonight, must do some more cleaning/decluttering preparation for April houseguests.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Twins' Mom, would you consider dressing as Esther or go along with the tongue-in-cheek concept of spoofing costumes. Have you seen the tee shirts that say, "this IS my Purim costume"? For some reason I get the giggles over that - ironic.
HRH and I could hardly wake up since yesterday, napping to get ready for bed, lol. I dreamed last night that I was so sleepy I was trying to force my eyelids open to see. I remember great effort, and fear that maybe I was driving and couldn't see the road.
It is my ds' birthday today, so he is now ds29. Completely forgot his birthday card in all the events and responsibilities of the past week. Maybe we'll get to see him over the weekend.
The final part of the gifts for the dfirstinlaws' shower Sunday has arrived so I can wrap. Although I may leave this for the weekend and have dd34 help. We will be carrying gifts from ddil, who works at hospital that day, and I've just finally found (at grocery store of all places) Burt's Bees onesies in their characteristic natural packaging, for dd15 to give. Ddil called and is so happy I would include her in a gift from me. That's nice - I realized I could be stepping on her toes, but she's pleased.
I have been so interested in other things posted today. But have also been trying to post this all day, so if I don't hurry and post I may not even get a chance to say hi.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Harriet, every little girl is Esther, of course!
Elizabeth, you commented last night on Purim - the dressing up is the Jewish equivalent of Halloween costumes - we are also obligated to consume alcohol as well....
Yes, I saw this T-shirt, also one that said "Error 404: Costume not Found" and another that the woman was dressed as usual with a sign that said "Nudist on Break." (DD went tsk, tsk and asked if the last was appropriate for children.)"this IS my Purim costume"?

Re: Thriving Thursday
x moms group this a.m.; left very late at 8:45. Everyone was late though; some roads were a mess. My route was fine b/c it was all in town. Got home at 12:50.
x lunch
x read book club book
x fell asleep for 10 minutes; I'm getting about 6 hours sleep a night - - just going to bed too late. It is catching up with me.
x folded and put away 1 lol and all the drip dry items
x worked on hebrew for an hour
x hebrew class
x made supper - leftovers + a frozen fried rice kit experiment. Dd15 and GG liked it.
x kitchen is clean.
I am tired. Still need to call dd15's accompanist. The music FINALLY arrived today. Also need to run the dw - and make progress on book club book. It's a good one this month, People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks who won a Pulitzer for another book. This is about the Sarajevo Haggadah, which apparently is a real book, though this account is fictionalized. Still, interesting story from a cultural (many and varied in the story) and historical point of view. Also, she writes well - always helps.
--> Skippable Rant. . . Feeling discombobulated about dd18 who ate dinner at her friend E's house tonight. Then, she went to the orchestra concert at other high school to show support for a freshman girl in our youth group. Not bad things in and of themselves - in fact, they're quite good things! But the larger context is that she has never been to one of dd15's high school concerts or one of ds' concerts or one of dd15's synchro meets. She also spent all afternoon and evening yesterday with Dfriend E, eating at her house last night as well. Tuesday night, she slept through dinner (we actually didn't realize she was asleep; we thought she was late home from babysitting). Monday nights, she never eats with us b/c of tutoring, etc. It seems clear her friends and "people projects" are more important than her family, the same issue underlying the arguments she had earlier this winter with dh who insisted she had to go to dfil's 90th bday party in NL this summer when she wanted to skip that trip for the annual youth group mission trip to inner city Detroit. I believe this is normal for her age - and she is very over-ready to be away from home and on her own at college/Univ. Still, it is hard to see this, and I'm trying not to feel snubbed. I'm wondering how to parent her well in this area these last months. Also, her study habits are pretty abysmal right now. Still wish she would face grade consequences for that -- maybe she will for 2nd semester grades. *sigh*
Off to call accompanist - done. I had to leave a message. Dw is going. I have a cup of tea and will read more of my book. If I don't fall asleep first. .

Re: Thriving Thursday
I am still trying to cuop.
Dh had another day of vacation. He forgot to pack his cpap machine for the trip. It really affected sleep for both of us. He napped 3 hours before bedtime last night and then slept another 11 hours. He showered today and then has been watching N etflix movies.
This morning I read all the papers, both local and hometown that I get by mail plus the big city Sunday paper. They are now ready to be recycled. I also went thru all the mail and dealt with it. This afternoon I finally showered and then started unpacking and doing laundry. I have also ironed dh's shirts as they came out of the dryer.
I had intended to buy groceries but was too tired to do it. So tomorrow I will be running errands and buying groceries.
Dd1 and her family will be leaving on Sunday to go to San Antonio and will be back by Thursday.
Spring break will be next week. Dd2 planned to take the 2 little girls to daycare Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I told her I would help her all day those 3 days and maybe we can have the house ready to show. She is getting nervous about it selling because none of the expensive houses in her area are selling.
When dd2 was planning to move into the house that they bought and never moved into, her and her ex agreed that next year the boys would go to the school that is starting K-6 next year. It is in his school boundary. Now that she is moving back into the area where the boys are now going, she wants dgs8 to continue there. Dgs9 will have to change schools regardless. The ex's wife wants to change schools and so this would be out of her way. Well boo hoo, dd2 has driven those boys to town for 2 1/2 years +. They have been arguing back and forth over the issue. It wouldn't be an issue if his wife would just stay put, but no that would be too easy. So who knows how this will end up. Dd2 is just sick of her always having to be the one to give in and them always getting their way.
Better go for now. Have more shirts to iron.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Helia: You sound like I did when dd was that age. Do you remember how upset I was when she was accepted to University of Waterloo but starting in Jan not September? I didn't think I could stand living with her for 4 extra months!
Dh got home, I made up a light supper and he's watching a movie before bed. We got the kitchen cleaned up and the garbage out before he started the movie.
My treadmill laptop is now defragging (on the off chance that will speed it up a little.) I've cleaned up as much as I can think to clean up and done all the updates.
I mended my skirt from yesterday (took three tries because I had threaded the bobbin wrong) and am now going upstairs to hand mend a purse while watching tv.
I've got over 10K steps in so, if I have time, I'll do some stretches too.
Dh handed me a booklet of questions for me to fill in and submit to the doctor.
