Just wrote out my appointments/errands today:

Financial planner
Lunch at the chip wagon
Hair cut for dh (maybe bang trim for me - I'm loving the longer hair so I'm not getting it cut this month.)
Drop off the questions I had to answer for the neurologist
Pick up my ring from the jewelry repair
Sign the lease
Costco

I have dinner for dh in the crock pot. I will have a frozen dinner in order to lower my average calories for the day (lunch is a hot dog and fries.)

Now to quickly have my breakfast and then load the car with the items I need for the errands to be successful.

I am feeling so lazy today. So glad this is a quiet week for the most part.

Yesterday I was out the door at 9 a.m. and back around 7:45. Saw dsis - the unit she is on is a "secure" unit with more supervision; since she's been undressing I suspect that is called for. Had fairly good discussion with nursing dir and social services lady that made me feel a bit better about things. We went out for ice cream and for a drive and I stopped at the Dollar store and got her pull ups. She has been incontinent off and on. She says she undresses because the diapers are hard to get back on but I'm not so sure of that. Anyway, the staff is supposed to get her some pull ups when the ones I bought run out. Got caught in ATL traffic coming back. It's a long day regardless of when I leave home.

Cold and windy here today with freeze warning for tonight.

I'm doing a tango with my schedule too. I was thinking of "time tetris" Tuesday. Love that term! I think Twins coined it. Time tango is great too!

Woke up this morning to find my laptop at 3% power after being plugged in all night. It quickly died once I turned it on. I tried using the other power cord but to no avail. It remained completely dead. I finished prepping for tutoring on dd18's laptop, tutored, came home, checked email online with dd18's laptop, and there was an email from dh who has arrived safely at his hotel in the UK. I called him to tell him about my laptop. He suggested removing the battery - which, btw, is maybe 2 months old; dh replaced the old one b/c it was having issues - and when I plugged it in sans battery, it worked fine!! So, I'm on my laptop now, but I am tethered to this outlet, unless I want to shut it down. Still, that is a vast improvement over where I was this morning. I'm going to order a new battery. Dh wants me to move to a new laptop - I think he has something I can use - but I've been stalling. He used this opportunity to point out my need to move to a new laptop. *sigh* Maybe over kids' spring break in a couple weeks.

x 9 - 10:30 tutor (w/out travel time)
11 - 2 My only time today to accomplish anything beyond meetings/appts. I probably shouldn't be here then. .
I. errands - post it place to put (1) tax info in mail to our accountant (2) last netflix DVD, for which we've lost the envelope; Trader Joes; ideally the groc. store too.
II. Lunch - in progress
III. any housework I want to do - laundry finish up would be good

2 - 4:15 walk w/ dfriend B at her house; I need to leave at 2 and hope to be home by 4:15 at the latest
4:15 - 5:50-ish - dd15 to her oboe lesson; hope to work on my teaching at the coffee shop
5:50 - 6:50 - make, eat, clean up supper
6:50 - 9:10 - France band meeting at the high school, including travel time

I did manage to get form for France band signed by both dh and me and notarized yesterday; glad I kept after that. I can turn it in tonight.

I skimmed last night - and want to echo others' indignation at the tardy policy at your school, Harriet. Can you call in her tardies and have them excused? That is what I do for my kids if they are tardy, and I agree that it is for an acceptable reason. We have a tardy issue here - b/c a certain 18 year old girl is the driver, and she is always running late. Her 1st hour teacher and dd15's 1st hour teacher don't mark them tardy. However, GG's 1st hour teacher does - and now takes points off hw if she is tardy, so we've had a couple discussions about this problem.

I'm off to the time tangoing tetris game of my day today.

Another cold start to a warm day.

I will try to dance in the kitchen today. Clean the microwave and counters.
Then sit on the sideline while I work on taxes again today.

I'd like to get out for a walk in the sunshine too.

Thanks for the thoughts about the jail... um.... ISS. Yes, there are such things as excused tardies and absences, of course. She's had an excused tardy before with a doctor's slip. I called a few days after the funeral and found they would excuse the day of the funeral, which was a whole day absence. But the tardies on the two days between death and funeral, they would not excuse, and that took her to 6. If she had just had 3 days of absences in a row, she would have had no consequences. I did talk to the office again, and expressed surprise that 6 was really considered a lot of tardies for a whole year, but was assured that's the rule.

It was this pesky business of trying to be present for the rest of the classes that caused the problem. The school really cracks down on tardies, to the point of discouraging students to come at all if they can't arrive on time. For instance, thinking of dd's last teacher of the day, Mrs. Biology. When the students in her class reach 5 tardies, then from that point on, even if Mrs. Biology is brilliant and her class vital, she is still competing with the student's hopes of avoiding punishment if they dare show up after another tardy. The bright spot is that you can't be tried twice for the same crime. So one day of ISS cleans the criminal slate back down to zero, and dd doesn't have to be afraid of tardies again until next year.

The hunt for a car is reaching a tipping point. I think my darling husband is juuuuuust about ready to scream if I don't pick. There is a 2012 fleet that just got exchanged, and we see three of nearly the same vehicle suddenly on the used market with low miles, in the color I said I wanted, so one of these may be the one. ("my" color not available in later models, so I dodged that expense bullet!) I am so cheap about vehicles! Hard for me to decide to buy. Runs in the family, because dd34 is investing in a new warrantied engine now for her family Durango. On balance, dd29 thinks we are both crazy.

It's Porch and Entry Focus cleaning week, so of course it rains here. I think I will look through the weather forecasts for the week and schedule some attention to porch.

I stayed on schedule this morning. I am ready for a good break while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Last night I was scrambling to get the video recorder turned on while LO was reading to me (homework). I wanted capture how well he is reading now. Reading is something LO practices most everyday but usually it takes him a while because he is slow as he phonetically sounds out the words. But last night was different. WOW! Just like that >>>snapping fingers<<<< he has started reading the words without needing to sound each letter individually then putting the sounds together. I know he isn't advanced or anything like that, but I'm one happy person to see Mr 5 year old reading with confidence. He also received his report card (end of 3rd semester) yesterday which confirmed how well he is doing in school.

I called our family doc office this morning and got DH an appoint for tomorrow. DH popped a rib out of place (he suspects) last week and had finally agreed to go to doc to get it checked out. It took a week of being in pain before he would agree to it.
