Harriet in the past week both dh and I have commented on how tense we are when we do the walk to the general store due to the biting cold. Today was cold too, but for some reason I was just fine (dh was not.) I suspect the cashmere sweater had a lot to do with it. Here are home, though, I have a fleece jacket on over the cashmere and my feet are freezing. We are both looking forward to being warmer in the apartment, although with all the glass along the north wall, that may not happen.

Dinner is done. Dh cleaned up since I started his dinner for him this morning.

Still loving my tulips. I think that might be the best $10 I've spent in the last 4 months. (I loved my pointsettia over Christmas.)

Quicken is running too slow to be useful (15 seconds to change accounts, 4 to enter a record) and this is not just my machine. Sigh... apparently, I can ask for my money back and might. I have the added complication that I'm getting a new machine and am not sure the software can be reinstalled on another machine.

I'm staring at the Chromecast thing and not sure I want to learn yet another new thing. Sigh....

Hello. I had a brunch appointment with 3 of my church friends (those I feel most close to) this morning. Only 2 others came as 1 is having stomach problems, possible hernia and can't eat. We sat there and talked and talked and sat there clear through the lunch hour! I love these girls.

Back home, I helped DH fix one of our armed dining room chairs. The arm wasn't attached properly and he ground a metal fastening sleeve shorter to fit better, reinstalled, glued the other end of the arm to the other side, reattached the first side. I held the chair the whole time from moving. It's all fine. I don't think we'd ever have noticed that except for putting it in the family room for DH to sit in when he came out of the rehab.

I helped him do some weeding outside. It's hard for me to get up and down like that and I can't bend over at waist to pull a weed because of the acid reflux. DH isn't allowed to bend like that right now.

He's making plans to go do work at the church tomorrow. I am so angry with that woman who called him today to see if he was planning to go do it...and this the woman I emailed and told her to leave him alone for a while. I'm thinking DH must have talked with her and told her to ignore me. I'm just SO MAD.

Harmony, I was so happy before to hear that others in your church had considered your concerns with maturity. But this woman is either a NUT, possibly dangerous somehow in her selfishness, or, Mr. Harmony needs to tell you that he is telling her to ignore you. The natural thing for you or any wife to do is to protect a healing husband. If he expected something different, you needed to hear that clearly. I'm glad you had a happy time with others from your church today. I don't know whether you are invited to work with him at the church tomorrow, or whether you would want to. On the one hand, you might protect yourself from a lot of future anguish if you could intervene about difficult work. On the other hand, I can't imagine anything more stressful to you.

Ivy, it's easy to tell you had a good day!

Twins' Mom and Kathryn have had good flower moments lately. I have too, but of the tiny-blooms pressed variety!

I did 1 lol, put it away, worked on 1 butterfly afghan motif square, which seemed to take forever. But it's TOO CUTE! While crocheting, we watched an Alaska Ferries vacation DVD, then Josh Groban's concert DVD, "Josh Groban at the Greek." I'd almost recently bought his concert DVD and CD, but DH was looking in the DVD's, found this, and I've never watched it, nor listened to the CD. So I have no "clue" when I bought it, but it was a treat and I'm so glad I didn't buy it- again. Once, I bought Josh Groban's CD and DVD "AWAKE" and the DH turned around and bought it at Costco! So I have 2 now, so 1 is going into our sedan, to listen to, while we're driving. ♥ ♥ It was cute, when Josh was on stage, he said, "I'm feeling a bit on the Goofy side tonight, for some reason." A young woman, in the audience went close to the stage, and handed Josh a little stuffed Disney Goofy dog. Then, I thought about Lucylee saying how George Strait got panties! Josh gets good clean stuff! Later, someone gave him a lovely bouquet of flowers, too. No panties for my Josh!

I read a couple of magazines and purged them. I am getting behind in magazine reading and writing again, too. It seems that once the deadline's been hit, I take about a week off to do other things. Like veg out in front of TV, nap, write letters, catch up on the house, and stuff. But once there's about 3 weeks, until the deadline, I really pour it on.

Now, I've got some poem sites, for a contest entry, which I've entered 3 times. You can enter daily. I need to read some poetry and write and submit poetry, but I'm very rusty. There are deadlines on them, too, and "Chicken Soup for the Soul," has deadlines, so I need to re-read my writer's guidelines and get busy again. I walked on Sunday, skipped Mon. because of shin splints, and only went 11 min. today, because my shins still bother me. But I stretched, which was good. I need to get my teeth cleaned tomorrow, so that will be done. Hoping no cavities are found, nor expensive x-rays need to be done.

Harmony, I am so glad that you were able to spend quality time with 2 close church friends. You were due for some relaxation.

Last summer I discovered some pjs at WM that I love. Since then I have been buying them when I see new ones in the store. I have capris and long pants. The tops are either short, 3/4 or long sleeves. they absolutely feel like you have nothing on. They aren't binding at all. The brand is George. They are made of 95% Rayon and 5% Spandex. They wash real nice but I do not dry them in the dryer. Then before Christmas they had a different style. It is 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex. It is all I can do to wear them because they make me hot. So I try to remember to wear them when it's really cold out. Last week I noticed on the website that they had 4 new capris and tops. I ordered them and received them today. I had also ordered a pair of long pants that matched a top that I had recently bought. AFTER I cut off the tag, I realized that although it said it was size small, it is at least a medium. I can't decide whether to try to remedy the problem and sew binding on the waist band and insert elastic or try and find a top or two that match it and send them to dm. I would rather do that if possible. Over the years dm has sent me plenty of gifts "just because," so I try to do the same for her if I find something.

After dd2 picked up the boys after school and dgd4 from my house, I went to Home Depot to look at carpet again. I still like the one I found this morning. I might go there in the morning and check that board out and see what dh thinks. For a brief time tonight we talked about putting laminate in the basement. Then dh looked on Youtube for videos on how to do it and decided it would be a lot of work. I don't blame him, for starters after you remove the carpet and pad, you would then clean the floor. After that you fill in any cracks with caulking and then if the floor isn't level, you use a special product like concrete to level it. That is just the beginning. No thanks.

At one time we talked about doing hardwood floors upstairs. Dh would need to do the work to be able to afford it. He has now decided he would rather have carpet upstairs, too. He would rather concentrate on my bathroom and then start on the kitchen cabinets. I want to switch all the doors and woodwork upstairs to white. It needs refinished or replaced. On HGTV, I seen white woodwork and doors and it looks so updated. Our friends who moved away 3 years ago bought a new house. It has white doors and dark woodwork. That sounds awful but it looks really nice. When I stop to think about how much we paid for this house and all the work we want to do, I could just kick myself. We could have built one. But now that we are here, we are both too lazy to move ourselves again. As for me, I get plenty of experience helping dd2 move. She swears this is the last move and no one but me believes her. Dgd17 thinks she needs counselling over her desire to move, move and move.

It is suppose to be super windy and warm tomorrow. It is suppose to be 80 on Sunday and then cool back down. I need to clean up the yard.....

I have a hair appt tomorrow. I have a wild hair again to let my hair grow out. This time I am going to insist that she just trim across the bottom of the back and trim the bottom on the sides. That way I can let the layers grow out and do something different. I tried to talk dh or the girls into doing it for me and they are afraid they will mess it up. Well no one could make it much worse than the gal that does it. The first week I feel scalped and then it is fine. It has been short for almost 7 years.

I need to clean house tomorrow. The bug guy will be here Friday. Dd2 is working tomorrow instead of Thursday, because she has a dental appt that day. So Thursday working around her appt and Friday afternoon, we will be working on her garage sale that is suppose to happen Saturday. She wants to get that stuff out of there before she shows the house. Her dh wants to price it right and sell it themselves, instead of having the price higher thru a realtor. I hope it works for them. All of a sudden the expensive houses out there have quit moving.

Another check in. I have done cat care, yard work, and put trash to the curb. Then, I decided to fix the toilet. I had picked up one of the kits that says it fixes almost all the leaks and was easy to install. Well, easy to install if you have done it before. Ended up calling the X, who was not happy. He said that I had made it a lot more work than it should have been, that I could have fixed it by cleaning the rubber seal. By the time he got there, I had broken one piece, so that had to be replaced also. (The kit said to remove it, it was broken during the removal). Because of the terrible design of the toilet, the tank had to be removed to install that part (something the kit did not have instructions for and that normally does not have to be done). The X asked me why I didn't just THINK about what could be causing the problem. Um, because until today I had never attempted to take apart a toilet before perhaps? He forgets that just because he was raised in a DIY home, doesn't mean everyone was. All my parents knew how to do was find a reputable plumber (not an un-useful skill). When we were married, he got frustrated when I tried to learn to fix things because I was not psychic and handing the tools before he asked. He said he ALWAYS knew what tools to hand his dad. Could that possibly be because he was trained from a toddler and eventually did know without being told? I doubt that he had the knowledge all his life - I have never met an infant plumber (or auto mechanic, electrician, etc.). Oh well, he is the other woman's problem now.

Thank goodness the MBR and master bath (with the broken toilet) were clean and the catbox had been dealt with well in advance. The same cannot be said of the kitchen and LR. DFosterCat Ripley was curious about the goings on and came to investigate. I removed her the first time, because I figured she would aggravate the X. He does so love to complain about cats. The second time she came around, he commented that she looked like Ryoki and Laia, and that it was nice she was outgoing. I still decided to remove her before he decided she was annoying.

I am with Cowinkie in being headachy, undoubtedly from dealing with the X and having to bite my tongue. It could also be from the yard work though. My stomach is also a little iffy as well, but I know where that comes from. French fries at lunch + mild potato allergy = why do I do this to myself. It is time for some Tylenol, Benadryl, Scrabble, crochet with Hogan, then bed.
