Just heard on the news, a new way to get kids to do chores. It's motivating them by use of technology at this site:

http://www.myjobchart.com

It's free, too! :!: The parents come up with chores, they assign points per chores, and then money or allowance is given per earned points. The kids enjoy going to the website, to put in how they've done their daily chores, they stay happily motivated, the kids and parents are happier, the work gets done, the kids get paid and it's free, which is super. I sent an email to Dcousin-in-law because she has 3 grsons and also to DDIL & DSON because they have 6 sons. (They have a baby, too, but she's too young to work.) She just looks cute!

I scrubbed 3 toilets, dumped household waste basket trash, tidied up my end table and end table basket, sorted laundry, but there's not enough to make a full load on either of 4 categories of items sorted. :P I put away a book, purged 3 magazines, and answered the question of the day on the TV news. I hope my answer will win.

It rains on and off now. DH boiled eggs, cooked brown rice for me, and I plan on eating brown rice with a touch of margarine on it AND making brown rice salad, too. I'll put some leaf spinach in it, sliced hard-boiled eggs, sliced canned mushrooms, diced tomatoes, and perhaps some diced chicken or ham or pollack. That's bottom fish, which tastes like fake crab. It's a great way to get fiber, protein, and nutrition, too.

Sorry about IP troubles for some of us here, too.

CONGRATULATIONS ELIZABETH AND GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Waving to MT, Dee, Nancy, Helia, Harmony, Sadie, Harriet, Lucylee, Twins' Mom, Lynlee, (((Lilac))), ((LO)), Kathryn, and Booksaver, too. :D

I visited my colourist. And run and emptied the dishwasher. And while the henna was setting I stripped and remade the bed (was actually nekkid this time but my hair was wrapped up in plastic and a towel and smelled like a bog so I didn't bother letting dh know!) After showering the second time, I put out fresh towels.

So not a lot to show for a whole day. My hair looks pretty good. Dh is upset that the grey is gone but tough - I tried it with the grey for many years and was feeling unattractive. This helps a little bit. My IRL stylist hasn't figured out what is going on yet and I'm not going to tell him. He commented how fabulous my hair looked when I was there for a bang-trim and I pretended he was just commenting on great his cut was.

Dinner was fish and chips (we are having fish on Fridays through Lent) and I've washed up all the dishes except the deep fryer. Dh made fewer fries this time and my tummy isn't as upset. He's learning to like the new fish better (we used to buy pre-seasoned, expensive, filets but now I'm buying it unseasoned and just baked it in oil and my home-made shake and bake mixture.) The only fish he really likes is deep fried and I'm not about to do that weekly so he can live with baked and this is much less expensive per serving.

Meant to say Get Well Soon to LO.

I saw a cute card that said, "Get Better" and then, "No, change that to Get Well. Someone like you couldn't possibly get any better."

Very happy to hear Elizabeth's joyous chorus.

News here - I am now the owner of a new-to-me car, a 2012. The color, interior color, cylinders, budget, mileage budget, finally all a "match"! (Took a long time.) A plus that there was less mileage than we thought when we decided, because they had averaged up. HRH went with me yesterday and I narrowed my choice down to 2.

Made my decision overnight (the slightly thriftier choice - is anyone surprised) and dstepson dropped me off today to buy. Well, actually, he also examined the car quite well before leaving me ;) , and was well satisfied. Dd15 had intended to be at a game that was cancelled, so she was with us and is delighted. HRH took a mini-video as we drove in and got out of the car, lol. I haven't purchased a car just for me since my widowhood, more than 17 years ago. HRH is relieved, he says, and won't obsess now if I travel for the new grandchild's birth. Whew. Assignment finished.

Concerned to hear the other grandmother (of dd34's boys) has been hospitalized for an injury to her foot. Wish dd34 could have understood this would mean a hospitalization. HRH could have met dd34 halfway and taken little britches home with us for a few days, to take some responsibility out of the picture for their family. But they managed until the weekend and now won't have work/school until this small crisis is over.

BookSaver, did you learn whether your In-Her-40s kinswoman did turn out to be pregnant? As a former In-Her-40s new mom. I'm kinda interested!

Got the main sermon finished and the service outlined for the retirement home. The sermon for them is still too long so I've printed it off and will look for places to cut.

Still have to write prayers of the people but they should be quick. So the pressure is off slightly (I was getting nervous.)

Dd wrote to say they are spotting lots of promising looking houses to rent and would I mind going to look for them. They are putting together a list and hopefully I'll be able to get in to see them in my 'spare' time. The worst part is that they are looking in almost the farthest point in the city from our current home. So it will be a long drive.

If Cowinkie comes by, I read your post last night and I gotta say I feel bad you have to go through that. Once every few years is enough for me.

Lilac, when I had my temporary crown put in I was told to do the exact same thing, toothpaste the stump and stick it back in! I never had to.

Lynlee, you had 11" of rain? Yikes! Your yard didn't flood I hope.
Dee! Glad you're back. Happy Birthday Nancy's DH.
Kathryn, BWTG getting the phone stuff figured out. We just have one business line, it runs through the answering machine and that turns on the fax if it hears a signal. 2 for the price of one!

Holding good thoughts for Elizabeth and your interview Monday.
Congrats, Harriet, for new car. I'm so jealous ... me with my old SUV we keep fixing..

Lucylee, it's great you guys are retired. That's my pet peeve, I can see DH not retiring till his health is so bad I never get a retirement, I just get to go from working to caretaking.

Hello to everybody.
Today I felt better, actually got dressed and went out. Had to go to library, had nothing to read around here. Went to supermarket on the way home and got staples and lots of veggies.

Bunch of paperwork done. Also, got caught up around here. Laundry is sorted ready to wash, did a big cleanup in the kitchen, made dinner, (we're still eating from the freezer but I cooked broccoli from the garden and made sweet potatoes to go with ham from freezer). Worried about DH. He went to bed after a shower about 5:00. He woke up long enough to eat dinner I took back. Been sleeping all evening. He must have done too much again.

Few phone calls to everyone in small group about Sunday's picnic at church...got long with the last lady. She's a real gem, so nice. Says she's going to come over with a paper for DH to sign to behave himself!

Quick post to say hi to everyone. It was cloudy here all day, they're still predicting rain tonight and tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Nancy's Dh.

Elizabeth, good luck on your job interview Monday.

Harmony, I'm glad you are feeling better today. I've been thinking a lot about you,
((hugs)).

Nice to see Dee back, and that MT was able to post.

Sure hope LO is feeling better.

Kathryn, WTG on all the work you've done so quickly to get ready for your move.

Congratulations on new car Harriet.

I was up early this morning to get started on my weekly cleaning. Ds#1 and ddil stopped in for a short visit a little after 10 am to pick up three cots. He and dgsons10 and 8 are doing the spring camp out with their scout troop. They sat and visited for a little while, but had to leave to take dgd16 to dr. appointment. Found out later that she has strep throat and dr. wants to run a complete blood work testing bs, thryroid and other stuff. I guess she hasn't been feeling quite up to par lately. It will probably be about 10 days till we hear results.

We got to talk to ds#3 and dgs12 for a few minutes this evening. Dgs says he has a soccer game tomorrow. They are expecting rain, and yes, they play when it rains (unless there is thunder!).

Nothing else much new with me - just plugging along, one foot in front of the other. Take care everyone!
