I've had a burst of activity. S2s, cleaned our bathroom, stripped and remade the bed, put out fresh towels, dusted the upstairs and started the sheets in the washer (in hopes of hanging them on the line to dry for a change.)

Now to take a short break and then perhaps vacuum the upstairs. I think I skipped that last week.

Oh, I am so so sorry, Harriet. (((HUGS))) to you and HRH and dd15. I can't imagine losing Pepper or Maia.

Woohoo! WTG, Kathryn. Stripped and remade the bed. . . I will never think of that phrase the same. LOL! :)

Um, no I have not left yet. I'll be lucky to be otd by noon, which is what I'm now hoping for. Since I'm leaving later, I'm eating my lunch here. I'll pack low cal snacks for the car.

Done:
x am routine, minus in-depth devo time.
x dh and I did Maia's ears before he left. He was in a hurry and said he could help with only one dog. Her ears are the worst.
x WW - down 2.1 pounds!
x bank for cash
x vet - got more ear meds and made an appt. for both dogs next week
x honey baked ham store
x have laid out most items to be packed;

still need to:
- gather more books, including Hebrew books
- feed hens
- pack cooler with a couple items
- finish packing for myself

(Harriet and family) so very sorry to read your news. Know your "new normal" will take some time getting used to.

I do feel better today. Boy did I ever sleep hard last night. Sports creme rub helped as did pain reliever. Happy that I feel this good today. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to move well.

Another 1 1/2 hours outside. Spreading fertilizer and mulch. I sprayed the side and some of the front of the house, windows and sills. It looks better though I'll have to do it again with the other nozzle where I can get a harder stream of water. I was using the plant fan nozzle. Watered all the plants and got the curbing clean too. Brought in another colander full of broccoli.

Sheets are washed / dried ready to put back on. Work clothes ready to hang up. Phone call made about a county requirement for our latest permit. They don't make it easy to get any work done around here.

Kathryn, If your DD starts out with a low figure, she's more apt to find something reasonable. Better than starting out with a higher budget that edges up into a too-expensive amount. Too bad she isn't here. We only get $750 for our house and it's 3 bedrooms, lanai, 2 car garage, family room, living room. I guess our cost of living is less here.

I checked in about an hour and half ago to read posts from late yesterday and this morning and was saddened by the news from Harriet. I had to walk away from computer with tears, so I went outside to help dh work in the yard for a little while. ((Harriet)), you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to lose a beloved pet, they are very much a part of the family and leave an empty spot for a long time after. I am so sorry! But I am also glad that Sammie had a loving home and you have wonderful memories to hold onto.

((Harmony)), I'm sorry you are sore from that hard physical work; we are definitely getting too old for this stuff. Hope you feel better today. It was good you were at dr. with dh to hear update on recovery. I hope he wisely follows the advise he was given.

Helia, I'm sure your dd15 will enjoy Paris. A few years ago dgd19 went there with her French class and had a side trip to London. They also toured Normandy. She had a wonderful time.

Kathryn, wish your dd and dsil luck as they search for a place to live. It's not easy for young people to get started these days.

Nancy, hope your weather is not too blustery now.

I have yet to start my weekly cleaning routine. I need to do the whole bit:
**mop kitchen, bathrooms, front and back hallways
**vacuum carpet in living room, dining room, hallway and bedrooms
**s/s bathrooms
**dust flat surfaces
**strip/remake bed
**laundry - at least two loads

Tomorrow is the Dunedin Highland Games. Ds#2 asked if we were planning to go, and, of course we said yes. So yesterday on his way home from work he stopped to run the edger around the lawn and gave us two tickets...wouldn't take any $$$ for them either. We want to get there as soon after 8 am as possible as dgds12 and 19 are dancing with their troupe and dgd12 will be playing her pipes. Ds and ddil are working in the kitchen for the middle school's food tent, so we will support them for our lunch. Dh and I will have plenty of time to walk around and see some of the games. I must remember to charge my camera battery!

Well, I see it is lunchtime.... waving hello to all who come in this afternoon.

Spent time exploring which of the battery operated radios I had worked. I'll keep 3 (3 different types of batteries required which means in a power outage the odds improve that I'll have the right batteries!) and get rid of one. Another didn't work so it is tossed, along with our baby monitor. It worked when I put it in the cupboard 16 years ago....

I kept the Itty Bitty Book Light even though I really don't have a use for it. Best case I can make is that it will work for a little one to read a book in bed after bedtime.

The sheets are on the line although the sun is gone now. So I have to watch for rain. The tree is still running like crazy (we can tell because it is also 'weeping' from broken branches. Dh has 3 liters of sap already today (we hadn't expected any again until Sunday.)

Hugs for the Harriet family. You have had too many losses this year.

Yesterday, when I was walking Dakota, I lost the cap and roll of bags that I keep on the leash. So I retraced my steps this morning. I assumed I wouldn't find the bags, but hoped I'd find the black cap that might not have been picked up. Zilch on both.

Yesterday I tried to find a replacement cap and found a cap off my cranberry pills fit well. The only problem was that as I was taking the basket of supplements out of the cupboard, I dropped a filled meds container with our meds for a whole week in it. Of course it came open and spilled pills all over the floor. We did pretty good finding them all. I think I only lost 2 Vit. D3 pills out of the many, many we take each week. I think they are probably under the fridge as I can't reach under it.

More (((BIG HUGS))) for Harriet and family... so sad... but such good memories. Sammie knew she was loved.

~~~~
The day started here w/call from d?bil. Caregiver for dmil isn't showing up this morning. No surprise to me -- her father passed away. I think that is an excused absence, you know? And I think dmil could manage okay on her own. Dbil said he told her to stay in bed until he got out there. * shaking my head * I told him we couldn't be there any sooner than he could.
I've got to s2s and get busy around here. Several errands to run before dgs shows up. He and I will have the house to ourselves while dh accompanies ds/ddil to a wedding rehearsal party where they are singing.
DH's bp and heart rate are sky high this morning. I think it is just stress from dbil's phone call.
Tomorrow is another day.
Just accepted the quote from the movers that came earlier this week. When comparing apples to apples, they were dead on my other quote but I liked the professionalism of this guy and the company has a very good reputation.
I did turn down the partial pack (they'd pack my fragile stuff.) It was $500 and only the dining room and china in the kitchen. Even figuring my time at $25/hour, that's allowing 20 hours to pack the fragile stuff and there's no way it will take us that long. They will supply me with china barrels and wardrobe boxes (and clothing remains in drawers) so the actual pack should go fairly quickly.
The only downside is they will do the move over 2 days, one day to load, another to unload. Which means we will have 3 nights on the air bed (we have to drain the waterbed the night before and it takes about 36 hours to get back up to sleeping temperature so at best it will be ready two nights after we move in.)
