I find it really interesting reading posts here - when I actually take the time to do that. OK, your daily life is just so different from mine. I can't imagine dealing with an escaped steer. At least it was a steer and not a bull - thinking that makes a difference.

x yelled at Tori for barking viciously at passers-by - twice. I am now keeping her inside.

- start cooking the meat
Okay ... Giggling at the escaped steer though I know it was not funny at the time.
While living on the farm we had to switch pastures from time to time. That meant opening gates and crossing roads. Dick my uncles retired logging horse, would lead the way with a trail of 15-25 cows ambling along behind. Every once in a while a youngin' would escape the line sending me running down the road trying to turn him.
The farm and my aunt and uncle are now long gone. However one of my favorite lifetime memories is seeing my aunt in the light of the moon, tearing through the back pasture, which was my backyard, on the back of a tractor. She was dressed in her bathrobe and pink furry slippers complete with curlers in her hair yellin' ... Don't shoot,don't shoot, the cows are out, the cows are out.
Translation: get your butts out of bed and help

DH went in for his routine drug study appt., he's been on it for 9 years, and they told him today, "The drug study's over!" Now his dr. will see if DH's insurance co. will pay for such a new expensive drug, which is new to the market. If not, DH will use his regular diabetic meds, take his blood sugar and see how he does. This drug study med helped him lose weight and brought his sugars way down, to a better range. It's a shame the study's over, no more are on the horizon, and we'll just have to wait to see how DH's body reacts to going without those weekly injections now. I hope he'll do okay.
DH went to a retirees luncheon today. It gave me time alone, to wait for my new case mgr. (Health ins. co. bonus) to call and talk to her AND do the china cabinet in Peace, so I could concentrate. I played the FM local radio station, so I could hear local talking, news, weather, and traffic. He brought home cranberry juice, I'm letting it chill. I took 1 cranberry capsule at lunch, forgot at breakfast, but will have another with dinner, plus sip on cranberry juice. Tomorrow, he'll go to Costco, will pick up larger-than-life cranberry jug juices and when he gets home, I told him it'd be good if he poured it into a picture with a handle and spout/lid on it, for ease in pouring. I don't "know" if I've got a UTI, I'm thinking I do NOT, but at least I'm doing all those steps to prevent them, right?
Then, DH was home awhile, he put on Celtic music, turned it way up and the case mgr. called. After speaking to her, she and I decided I don't need a case mgr. after all, because my primary care physician's so good about managing my care, he has an on-site area to post any problems or questions, so I'm all set. I was relieved I didn't need anyone MORE to manage my care. Having a dr. and his med. asst.'s, is really enough, for now. The only upcoming things I have is an ophthalmologist appt., an eyeglasses appt. and colonoscopy appt. MY! Aren't I lucky? My great aunt died in her early 60's of colon cancer, 5 yrs. ago I had 3 pre-cancerous polyps removed and was told to get another test done this year. I'll wait until Sept. or Oct., after the summertime grsons visiting are home. I don't want to do it right now, and I see my dr. the end of July, so we can get the ball rolling then. I get so very weak when I do this test, but I suppose everybody does.
I'm off to get my calendar reminders all figured out before Easter's here. I found some woven forest green vinyl placemats, which will look "okay" with the pink tablecloth or the white one. The china's white with a pink and gold or silver edge on them and a grey-pink rose in the middle with a couple of light grey rose leaves/stem. I've never used them. They're Nana's china, I inherited them, a full set of 12, none missing, chipped nor broken or cracked. I might as well use them. It's about time. I've had them for over ten years now. What am I waiting for????
Oh! Talking about escaped livestock! We live on an old homestead. The adjoining farm, over a ways, had a bull, who would come to visit us. He was large and big. This was in the 1970's & 1980's. We'd just call the neighbor, say your bull's out again, and here the old man would come to fetch him. He looked so disgusted with his bull. Then, once, 2 of somebody's horses were running all over the place down here, we're 1/3-mile from the country road, and these horses, come to find out later, were loose from about 1 mile away. Another neighbor, when the horses got out to the country road, after visiting me awhile, tied them up to her wire fence. She rents. Her landlord was so angry with her, but she said what was she to do? Let them get all the way to the freeway and get killed? She told her landlord that and the owners came and got their horses. Country living can be exciting sometimes.

OKay, I sure hope all the families at LO's school find this to be a brief sidetrack, not a big deal! I completely understand the disappointment that an extra-curricular can take away the one brief time you had to spare. Dd may have a ride to and from a distant volleyball game tomorrow, and that would at least give me a bit of a break while preparing for dd34's family to arrive.
Dd had both a make-up test and an Engineering Club meeting after school. I arrived too early to pick her up and had to make a second trip. Nothing like wasting my time. Sigh.
Grocery shopped. This won't be the end of that chore, but I'm partially there. Decided on cupcakes for the birthday, but I won't go to the trouble I did for dd15's. Not enough hours in the day, and I need to be careful about whether I can do an equal amount for 3 more grandboys this year. Just bought regular confectioners sugar and I'll make a buttercream frosting and color it different ways. Cupcakes are ready now and covered, will frost tomorrow. Wondering whether to hide these on top of the fridge or if it will be such warm temps I should make a place in fridge... ...
Also 2 boxes wrapped prettily, with handmade bows (of course I did ) and one present in bag because it was just too strangely shaped to be boxed. He should open bag last, since it's a toy but the boxes are smart clothing choices from his grandma! Still, "Minecraft" tees with orange shorts to go with one and a print of rocks for the other shorts. I don't think that's too "clothes-y" to prevent a happy party, since he is "totally into Minecraft" according to his Mom.
HRH wants me to recommend his new favorite tea, Hibiscus Tea. He doesn't put any sweetener in it and finds it very fruity and refreshing, appetizing because it's rosy colored. He likes the organic one by Novel Teas, because it's a liquid extract, and you just squirt it into the glass of water (before adding any ice) so it's ready to drink immediately. About 100 servings for $20 is what he paid. Hibiscus doesn't cause any potential problems with kidney stones like regular tea, which he's been warned not to drink.
Harriet, Does herbal teas or green teas cause kidney stone problems? Am curious.
OKay, My kids got, both, lice AND scabies, so then our entire family AND all the bedding, had to be treated, washed, etc..
Correction: DH was on the drug study for 6 years; not 9.
I'm running a fever again, why, I just don't know. I think I'll call it a night. Maybe I overdid, but where does it say doing heavy housework makes you run a fever?

Exhausted and yet feel like I didn't accomplish much today.
After my last post dfs called to catch up. I had looked at his Google calendar today and noted he has a surgery in less than two weeks so inquired by email. He responded with a phone call. It was good to catch up.
Then we had the afternoon tea, then picked up a few groceries and dh's Chinese, the mail and then had dinner. After dinner, I started work on the kitchen. It needs a complete top to bottom clean.
Started at the top and pulled off everything from the top of the cupboards, about 10 items and cleaned the tops of the cupboards to get the grease off. It was bad.
Cleaned the items. I'll get rid of two and have packed the remainder. Goodness knows where they'll go in the new place. I got the four open shelves also cleaned, including doing things like taking apart the acrylic pepper mill and cleaning it (it gets greasy from the pepper oil.)
I kept packing things until I had a full box so my first kitchen box is done. This is going to take longer than I thought.
Dh did the garbage. My work in the kitchen didn't generate any except some paper towels. So we didn't pull out a full load again this week. Dh said he looked for things to suggest as he gathered up the garbage and didn't find any. He said he found things that needed to be sorted but no visible garbage. I hope that is right, I don't want a disaster at the end.
Off to bed, over an hour late. Maybe I'll sleep in tomorrow.
