So.... what happened? Sunday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

I'm thinking about OKay's mom and wondering what happened last night.

But the title can apply to any of us -

What happened last week that worked out well or didn't work out? Why? What can you learn about the past week to make the upcoming week better?

For me, it was the power of sabbath. I ended up taking two 3 hour lunches and those were the one part of the week that are positive. The rest is just an endless feeling of gloom, stress and unsettledness.

Breakfast is done. Skipped tea and chocolate.

Slept badly again.

I have 20 minutes before I have to leave for the services. Will at least vacuum this level of the house and put away laundry.

Good Morning!

I'm ready to leave for church - just waiting on DH to come back home from doing MPB chores.

DMom is a-okay. DH just pulled in....will tell more later.

Hi, everyone.

Sadie, I am so grateful doctors can see what is wrong and have a plan to help ((your dson)). I pray this procedure is part of a confidant future for him and much less worry for your whole family.

Dee, I'm wondering if anyone ever explained to the lady later that Mr. DeeClutter IS a first responder? What an awkward situation. It really sounds as if she missed the fact that he was answering her, not just showing up unexpected.

We had a pleasant drive to dfirstsisil's house. Once there, some parts nice, some not. Dfirstmil, at 95, was busy making biscuits. So happy for her that she keeps a lot of her life the same. Several awkward moments with tension between dfirstsisil and her dh. Dfirstsisil was so obviously exasperated, and very loud with her, "Could we discuss this later, please?" to him.

I was concerned to learn that my aunt-in-law, dfirstmil's sister, quietly had back surgery on the advice of just one dr, without talking it out with her sister (she is single) or other drs, and had a very difficult recovery, is even now unable to walk more than short distances. I know I was wincing when I heard this. But as far as thinking she would have wanted to talk this out with my dfirstmil and dfirstsisil ... .... no, I wouldn't have wanted to. There's just a judgmental attitude there that is crazy-making.

Dd and I got back in the car to head for home and started arguing over nothing before we could get out of the driveway. :? We argued for 10 minutes of the trip at least - unlike us. I think we were just feeling stiff and nervous during the visit. Soon we encountered enough difficulty with the drive/directions for the reverse trip that we snapped back into normal mode.

Anyway, that was so social and the drive so long that I remained social-ed out and tired, slept poorly. An email from church mid-day yesterday announced a covered dish after worship today. I'm sure for some people that only encourages attendance, but not for me. I was unprepared to bring a dish, and not ready for more social interaction anyway. Dd awoke in a sneezing fit with allergies and HRH said he'd heard her up and down with sneezing all night (something is really blooming). We just "called it a weekend" and will try the hermit life until tomorrow.

Someone woke me up just before 5. He has this "need" to have a shower as soon as he comes in from a vacation. As soon as he is finished with that, he has to totally unpack every suitcase and put everything on the dining room table and the clothes get put in the hall ready for laundry piles. Plus he was blowing his nose.

Our dining room table now has 50 Cuban cigars, 2 bottles of Cuban rum, 4 pounds of Cuban coffee, 3 pounds of Cuban sugar, 2 carvings and 10 various baskets, 1 t shirt and 2 bottles of Cuban honey.

Now that we are both awake, we need to go out for lunch, because I never did any grocery shopping.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

On my short break between morning and afternoon services. Exhausted.

Dh is vacuuming. We'll let the basement go despite a few spots that could use attention. Still have to dust main floor and fold winter bed linens.

The house at the end of the street has removed the open house sign but dh wants to go ahead.

CM and CF have invited us for supper so and dh wants to go so we will (it means he doesn't have to cook.) I have nothing to take and there's not time to head to the store.

I'd rather just sleep after the open house (actually, I'd rather just sleep at 3 but that's not an option) so now I don't get and nap and I do have to go out. This isn't going well for me. I'm still on the verge of tears at all times and snapping like crazy at dh when I'm not crying. You'd think he'd back off and let me rest. If not, then I refuse to try and control my temper with him.

I understand that very well, Kathryn, and it's how I felt about learning there was a covered-dish today. I cannot look forward to a get-together when an inability to contribute is on my mind. Hope your open house yields some new possibilities.

Cathy, it sounds like a lot of your gift-shopping may be taken care of!

I had a good

I'm going to try planning and gathering my laundry load on the night before. I've probably done that a little in the past, but I'm thinking maybe I'd actually have the basket on the washer and ready every evening. Just no waiting time at all before the laundry's going, and no second-guessing about which load is more important. Depending upon the attention the day's load would need, I could almost start it before the school run. Then I'd walk back into a house that was already literally churning with housework.

Home from the last service. Open House has 'started' but no-one has come yet. There is one place open south of the village and people have to drive by my sign to get to that, so it might generate someone but I doubt it.

I'm planning on changing and lying out on my chair in the back and having a nap. It is a little chilly but I desperately need the nap.

Last service went really well. I now have 4 generations of one family who come to the services (which is saying something when you consider this isn't a church but a retirement home chapel - but a granddaughter is making our service her 'church' and now her mother and daughter have come, making it 4 generations. The resident is so pleased to have her family come to church with her.) As usual, those residents are the light of my Sundays.

Not feeling 100% today, but I have:

- Had QT & wrote in my journals.
- Made our bed pretty.
- s2s, shampooed, got into leisure clothes with Icy Hot on my upper back.
- Had breakfast, pills, supplements.
- Crocheted a little bit.
- Emptied the DW.
- Fix coffee for DH & me.
- Wrote a list of old & new "possible" pen pals to write to.

I plan to write letters today, read, crochet, rest, & take things easier. I don't know if I've got the energy to do laundry, nor if there is even enough dirty clothes to wash a full load.

I donated 3 pairs of knee socks & 1 pair of slipper/sleeping socks to the ARC box. I have 3 boxes slowly filling up. I inherited 3 pairs of new socks, so am donating 3 pairs of good socks out. I need to sort through my closet for other items to donate, too. Last time they called, I didn't have the "energy" to get a donation together. But that day, I labeled 3 boxes, have them on my bunny room sleeper sofa, to slowly add to. I'm considering on donating a lilac lounging pajama outfit because it hugs the belly & often times the waist is too tight on it. I put in 5 nightgowns, 1 throw pillow, & 2 lounger dresses, too. I only have a little room for each box now. Might donate potholders & 1 tablecloth. So by the time they call again, I'll have my donation all ready for them. :)

Everybody, have a nice day. I think what happened to me, last week, was how I overdid & then didn't rest or pace, as needed for fibromyalgia. I wore myself out by go-go-going for 2 or 3 days, especially. I ended up going to bed early AND sleeping in, because of the exhaustion. BUT, I've been VERY HAPPY with what I've been getting done, too. So where is the trade-off & balancing? I believe I'll try to pace between activity & rest more this week & use my timer more, too. :D
