Was cleaning microwave (It's Kitchen week in Focus cleaning thread) and HRH was having morning troubles with a PC, so off we went to the computer repair shop and hopefully it will be done by this afternoon. (He is already lamenting its absence, even for a few hours). So we had the "Neanderthal" feeling as well, Harmony, as we waited for some input and opinion from a series of techs there, all depending upon laptops for their info.

We caught breakfast out together while we were on the road, and also picked up Tobias' prescription food. It had dawned on me that that is one of the before-the-travel must-dos, because HRH has never used the prescription before and you have to show it physically, plus know where the food is yourself. I don't think I've ever been to a pet store with HRH before. He was giving pep talks to all the rodents, some of whom were trying to dig though glass to the next door neighbor's wheel when they had a perfectly good wheel behind them. He bought a toy for Tobias. The store would probably have given up their toy inventory as a loss before I'd have even thought of doing that.

Movie I know in advance I want to see.. ... Kingsman. Learned about it today - have to wait until Oct. Stars Colin Firth (age 53) as a superspy and perfect physical specimen, who mentors a teenage hopeful. For all I know, it might way too much murder, explosions, or inappropriately-named female leads . But the concept of Colin Firth ("Mr. Darby", and Nanny McPhee's bewildered employer) getting in shape to play this part (Jackie Chan's training team spent 6 months with him, 3 hours a day) is just too interesting for me to miss.

Waiting on dmom. Appt at 8:00 -- they just took her back at 11:00. Of course, some of that time was prep work, but some was just waiting.

Round robin done. Much can be accomplished in 3 minutes per room when fully focused. Most of the time I can PUPA everything that doesn't belong in the room, run the dust mop over 80% of the floor and quickly run a damp microfiber towel over horizontal surfaces. Three minutes won't get the room perfectly clean but it leaves the room looking okay.

I did stop and watch a bit of the local news special report remembering 1 year ago today when F5 tornado came through and killed 25....including several children that were in school when the tornado hit. Providing tornado shelter to school children is a hot topic in this part of the world. Most of the public shelters have been closed (at least in my part of the state) due to not having handicap access and liability. There is much controversy because there are not enough tornado shelters. One local school bought helmets for all the children - their plan is to put helmets on the children if tornado hits during school hours. LO's school doesn't have tornado shelters so I will go get him from school and bring him home to have access to our fraidy hole when tornado warning happens.

Next up - Lunch prep. Will make a large rainbow salad and reheat the leftover Hawaiian pizza from last night.

Your post got me thinking about how different things may be for each of us, Okay. For instance tornado warnings here are non-existant. -Though we do have them once in a while. We all have little unique things. Mention Z weigle hots here (or in FL as there are lots of snowbirds who favor them) anywhere else & you wouldn't know what I was talking about -or salt potatoes. A garbage plate? In FL we have big Christmas parades -here, it's too cold.

DFriend is in process of building a restaurant about 2 miles from us. While waiting for it to be ready to open (about a month) she is testing and fine-tuning her recipes. Last night she delivered freshly baked brownies to us. She needs to know which ones are the best. OH MY....all I can say is that both recipes are wonderful and it is very difficult to eat just one.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Sunshine here today.

I slept in for a while and just got a late slow start to my day.

Called Dfriend that I work with, she pulled her achilles heel tendon and possibly broke a bone in her foot. She went to a specialist's yesterday. Called to see how her visit went with him and she was quite upset about the way she was treated. The receptionist was very rude to her, dfriend had to fill out an hour's worth of paperwork including giving her full SSN which most places only ask for the last 4 digits. The woman asked her what insurance she had and Dfriend told her B C B S along with traditional M e d i c a r e.

The woman then told her she wouldn't be able to see the doctor because they don't do short term disability claims. The receptionist had told my friend that they had received her short term disability paperwork two weeks prior. The doctor would never see her. So dfriend wanted all her paperwork back and receptionist said she wasn't getting it back. Had noisy episode and doctor and his brother came out and told receptionist to give the paperwork back, she still refused. Ended up Doctor had to take the papers from the file and give them to dfriend. Then receptionist yelled GET OUT and my dfriend left. She had forgotten her cane so she went back in to get it and the receptionist yelled at her again to GET OUT. Dfriend had her sister with her and the sister thought they were going to get arrested because Dfriend said she would not leave if she did not get all her paperwork back. Why would they need it if the doctor will never see her? Sounds strange like maybe ID theft or something.

So when I called she was getting ready to go to her primary care doctor. Primary care doctor said that specialist will not be recommended again.

But we are all fine here right now.

Dson 18 is pretty laid back about his procedure. Think he holds a lot in which I don't know if that's good or bad.

Need to accomplish something today.

Harriet, I was so intrigued about the movie you mentioned that I watched a trailer. I think that is one I will go see! I'm a Colin Firth fan.

Band director dismissed us at 12:45. I left the notebook with him for the few stragglers who still need to return their uniforms.

I've had lunch - and I'm feeling SO sleepy now. . I might indulge in a 20 minute power nap. The fact that I'm home early means I can go to the groc. store before dd15's lesson.

This morning, dh and I discussed Hawaii, and then he booked a ticket for me to join him there next month. He used frequent flyer miles. I still need to hear from S and R if they're OK with the girls sleeping in their home; GG can't stay with just dd18 (per the organization's rules), and dh thinks it would be better to keep the girls together. Dd15 will be heading off to camp in the middle of this, but I think her bff's parents might be willing to drive her out there. Her bff and her bff's little sister are going to the same camp and session.

OK - power nap it is. And then meal planning and the groc. store.

I just heard on TV that most people are paying more for their internet/phone/tv than they are for food. I'd much rather have food...

Been working on those 2 spreadsheets all this time. Plus a couple interrupting phone calls. We had a really busy April and I was playing catch-up with some of the more extensive bills...so it was more complicated than usual and I had things pretty messed up for a while. Finally got it all worked out correctly. Usually only takes me 30-40 minutes to do this.

See this is why I don't get much housework done.

Wonder what I could accomplish in just 3 minutes.....

You'd be surprised. My tea steeps for 4 minutes and that's enough to completely empty the dishwasher and put away everything except the cutlery.

I can make the bed and tidy my bedroom in that time. I can also water the plants if I don't get distracted (going from room to room often has that affect on me!)

Our box count so far is 7 or 8. Apparently we can't count that high! I'm thinking of digging out the old bead toy of dd's and sliding beads over as we take boxes downstairs. We are definitely low on boxes now.

I've emailed dsil to see if he wants my canning jars. Not sure if I'll take them or freecycle them of he doesn't. Some are vintage and very pretty so I hate to part with those but I never used them for gifts in a jar as I intended and I don't can. Now that we don't have the maple tree we won't need them for syrup either. For that matter, 4 are coming with us because they are in the freezer with syrup in them now.

I've also emailed, asking for more boxes from the moving company.

We packed up the music and dvds today although I kept out a selection so I can listen to some while I work around the house. Dh pointed out it is all on the server, but the sound from the laptops won't carry through multiple rooms in the open concept like the Bose cd player does.

We also discussed getting a new sound system for the tv and are seriously considering a Bose one. We love our CD player and feel like we deserve some luxury from the move (we aren't getting any new furniture, just making do with what we own although I may draw the line at the kitchen table since ours is huge and the new kitchen eating area is much smaller.) We can order the new sound system after we unpack most things since the sale is on until July 3. Then we can try it and return it if it doesn't work in our weird space (part of two walls are missing.) It isn't as if we are video or audiophiles, we usually watch Netflix on our little 24" tv and our 'big' tv is just 32". But we can tell how good the small Bose CD player and it is 17 years old and still going strong. The tv sound system we are looking at is similarly compact and we'll trust it delivers the same big sound as the CD player.

Break time is over, back to work. At least I have a dinner in mind for tonight and it is easy to cook.

lucylee - thinking of you and your dmother. Hope she has a good day for the rest of the day and no particular problems for dr to notice.

Sadie - well, you already know a pet peeve of mine is the information possession issue in doctor's offices. But anyway, that receptionist was certainly being reactionary to something, and yes, it does stand to reason she was feeling guilty. Either feeling guilty because it could so easily be shown she'd done her job wrong the whole time friend was there, or - hate to say it - but maybe friend was right to suspect identity theft. If any such theft does occur, it will certainly be easy for friend and sister to remember this receptionist now, and she knows it, so I doubt there is danger any more. Dr's office walls are thin enough that none of the yelling would have been overlooked - even that last "get out" was surely well known to dr and all. Training was lacking. Every teen on the first day at first job is told that customer is right.
