Lucylee, The confessions market includes "True Story," & "True Confessions." The main character tells the story in the first person. She (or he, in some cases), has a problem, they set out to solve it, they learn from it & in many instances it ends happily ever after. I do light romance, some adventure-type stories were "I" have made it through a real bad storm, all by myself, or comical stories, where a boyfriend's trying to propose to his girlfriend, but everything goes all wrong for him & it's a funny story to make the reader laugh. There are tearjerkers, too. Sometimes I write about addictions, illnesses, love conquering all, & inspirational stories with references to Bible Verses, too.
I'm "trying" to get my stories, light romantic fiction, into "Woman's World," Magazine. I'm also trying to get stories accepted into "Pockets" Children's Christian Magazine. There's also a greeting card company from CO called Blue Mountain Arts, which accepts poetry & has a contest going right now. There are 3 major women's magazines having essay contests this year, too. One opens up on June 1. I have a subject, but need to write it, get the right word count & take it from there. I don't know if they'll have contestants enter their stories at their site in an on-line form or what, exactly. Also, I've submitted poems & stories to "Chicken Soup for the Soul," but it can take up to 4 years to hear back from them. The nice thing about them, is they pay $200 for your poem or story AND give you 10 free copies of the book. Isn't that nice of them? Wow. I think it's really nice.
About your dmom & coffee.... My Dr. & M. A. said Constant Comment tea has caffeine in it, yet it's easier on the system & your dmom might try green tea, herbal teas or even iced teas. I know I felt so much better today without my acidic strong coffee. I remember how ill I got after my colonoscopy, often wondering if people prone to bowel problems ALL have a difficult time of recovery after their procedure. It seems that DH, who has no bowel problems, only took 1 day & he was fine, but I was so sick & weak for about 4 - 5 days. I lost weight & it seemed to take forever to get back to normal. They phoned my results of my pre-cancerous polyps to me AND mailed the report, with photos, etc... too. My Great Aunt died of colon cancer when she was in her early 60's & I need to get a colonoscopy this year, too.

NOT looking forward to it, will wait until summer's over, when DH had in his winter firewood & the grandsons no longer visit this summer & start school again.
Kathryn, You're go-go-going on that packing! It's GR8!
OKay, That's so wonderful LO will be in the same school for all 12 grades.
Helia, Congratulations on having 0 cavities.
CathyS, I loved Bob Marley's music.

Didn't he sing the don't be sad or mad- be happy- song?
Harmony, Your spaghetti reminds me of something. I saw a TV ad for a "doo-hickey" where you take zucchini, put it down into the "tool", with a blade on it, which makes your zucchini into spaghetti!

They have other ideas for it making garnishes, too. I thought how healthy it would be to eat a veggie spaghetti like that, much like spaghetti squash.
I got titles written down onto outline forms, then put story deadline months on my email calendar, to "remind" me what month I'm aiming to have a story in by. I "ought" to do the deadline idea for the essays due, the kids' magazine stories due by, etc.., too. I have 2 files full of deadlines for stuff. If I was smart, I'd tackle that project & get those dates logged, too.
I ate healthy today, but I had some healthy snacks, so I figured I'd eat a very light dinner. I ate a spinach salad with a sliced hard-boiled egg on it with low-fat Ranch Dressing. About 20 minutes later, I got sick to my stomach, was burping Ranch Dressing. This hasn't happened to me before. I took Pepto Bismol, then later had to take a generic Zantac, because I was still sick.

I "wonder" what it was in the dressing that did that to me.

It just hit my tummy wrong. I almost had low-fat Thousand Island dressing. Now I WISHED I HAD!
I'm going to sign off & write my Dsis in UT a letter. She'd lived in OR on the coast since 1996, moved to UT in Aug. last year, so it's "different" having her so far away. We email & send cards & letters.

I also write DD & DH's CO cousin, a woman about 54.5 now. Wonderful gal.
I try to do a Friday Conga Focus, but last Friday, I worked hard for 90 minutes, wore myself OUT!

So now I'm thinking about starting my Friday Conga in baby steps on THURSDAY, so it doesn't ALL hit me on Friday, like it did last week.

I try to get things done up so the weekends are fairly free to relax or whatever. I did the dusting & dust mopping last Fri. & DH was going to vacuum, but hasn't yet. He's been so tired from getting firewood.

Maybe tomorrow?

We only have 2 area rugs; 1 in the great room & 1 in the dining room, so it's not like a wall-to-wall fully carpeted home. My BFF has a fully carpeted home, so the vacuuming is a chore for her, but her DH vacuums when she's out of town, etc.. to get on her good side & she's so HAPPY with him! He's very proud to tell us.
