I can't quite figure out how one week becomes so hair-on-fire busy. Does it feel that way because we're getting away this weekend for the beach?

Yesterday I did some (not enough :o ) desk day, then headed out at 11:15 to dmom's. Got her to doc, picked up her meals, got her back home, just in time to p/u ds at work then go to doc appt for dkids. Afterward dd was going to dinner w friends and ds and I made a flying fast trip through the grocery store. (His speed, not mine. I didn't have my list and forgot a lot because he was flying through.) and finally got home 6:45ish. Walked ddogs and collapsed.

I still haven't finished reconciling the info from yesterday, and I have an 11:30 meeting today about it. I did find some of the issues yesterday, tho. Between now and then I have to get ds to work, and someone is coming around 10 to p/u the console that we are returning. I have body work/massage scheduled for 1:30 today, trying to get my hips straightened out. I am planning to cook shabbas dinner tonight and dd will be here for dinner, going back to K-town tomorrow.

Wishing things would settle down. Maybe after the vacation? I hate being so on the go all the time.

Good Morning Twin's Mom. I couldn't figure out a name for today's thread. I've been up for almost 2 hours.

As I was falling asleep last night, I thought that I should move all the crystal to the other side of the credenza. As I woke up this morning, I decided that I would put a long flat piece at the back of the dining room cabinet.

Mike goes to bed late and sleeps late. I go to bed early and wake up early. I am very much a morning person living with a dedicated night owl. I want to get going on all of these ideas, but I don't want to wake up the sleepy head.

So I'm hanging out on the computer.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I hate being so on the go all the time.

Yes, I understand! That feels like the story of my life the last few years. It is hard to get things done b/c it feels I'm always running around to meetings, appts. - and then there's just the regular errands, like the grocery shopping, that needs to get done too. It makes me wonder about part-time payroll on top of it all - but payroll may mean some of the volunteer activities come to an end. . . Anyhow, maybe the upcoming trip is adding to the errands and things that need to get done, Twins.

FB message yesterday - now, my dbro. is not coming to the party after all. We will miss him, but that will help with the houseguest count that weekend. I'm glad I didn't take his offer to man the grill seriously.

It looks like another beautiful day here! I have driven dd15 and GG to school; dd18 fell asleep last night (GG said she woke up at 2 a.m. and dd18 was still up) and didn't finish a final project that is due today. Someone also needs to pick them up b/c dd18 only has hours 1 and 2 today. Dd15 will let me know if she is staying after (for what? I'm not sure. .Something involving a friend.) or not. Since I'm tutoring at 3, I may not be able to pick her up. Not even sure what GG is doing.

Today:
- WW @ 9:30 - I think my weight is the same. I have a pattern of gaining over the weekend and then losing that weight during the week. . . .
- tutoring @ 3
- a.m. routine
- laundry!! It would feel good to reclaim the laundry room; I'll need to corral dd18's mess in there.
- Costco - finally order the cakes and buy some of the snacks for the party
- exercise? video or walk
- dinner: out to Asian/sushi restaurant where dh and I will also order the Cali rolls for the party. So, food ordering for the party should be complete by the end of today.

Good morning, villagers ~

Follow-up report on the cast iron waffle iron: Needs more seasoning. I probably should have done the oil-and-heat thing 3 or 4 days in a row before trying to cook waffles with it.

Today I need to
* Plan meals and grocery list (done)
* Finish listening to the director's commentary on a movie so I can return the DVD to the library
* Grocery shopping
* Clear space around the back yard chiminea so we can have at least one fire this weekend

Hard to believe that it's Memorial Day weekend already. Early in our marriage, we went camping with DH's brothers and sisters every Memorial Day weekend. Since there was always a lot of planning involved with that, it didn't sneak up on me the way this one has.

Was tossing and turning at 5:30 and Tobias decided to help make my decision by jumping up on the bed. Sigh. But that was only 20 mins early, so, oh well. Sort of frantic morning anyway, when dd couldn't find the black toboggan (beanie). I was questioning why it was such a big deal. "it's not mine!" she wailed. Whoops! So her Dad and I got into the hunt as well, and it was finally found. Decided to run get 2 egg mcmuffins for breakfast and had those with HRH after the school run.

I wish we still believed that the new grandbaby might come early! Today would be a perfect day for that phone call! Dd15 could be away from home for 3 days and have no ill effects for school. Dsonil would be on a holiday weekend.

But of course now they are saying the 28th or later. Poor dd34, now in the "uuuggghhh" stage of pregnancy, bless her heart. But all is healthy and normal. As far as I know, still working full days. I suppose since she does work for a college system, this is not a bad time to have a baby. It's just that at her house, "school's out" means the boys are home 24-7. :) Glancing at their elementary school calendar, it does look as though they are in school full days until the 10th with a half-day on the 11th.

helia, I certainly feel for your family regarding the high school homework push right now, and I hope dd18 wasn't too frustrated. Dd15 had the entire dining table overspread with papers both last night for 3 hours and this morning for an additional hour. She is counting heavily on this weekend for project time, so we'll have to be sure to encourage that priority.

Decent progress. Dcleaning is here and I've done all the straightening up I am going be able to do. The guy showed up early to pick up the console so that's gone.

Now on to the spreadsheet. Would like to get quick s2s also...

Just waking up here, although I'm definitely moving: I've s2s, the bedroom and bathroom are show ready and the dishes are put away from the drainer. I also took the can/bottle recycle out.

Talked the lawyer (that happened while writing this post.)

Slept really poorly last night. Power went out for 3 hours so the UPS and generator woke us up. Dh went outside and shut off the generator since we didn't need it (it wasn't raining.)

This morning I've been resetting clocks. One of the new phones seems to have been fried in the power spikes. Seriously, I shouldn't have to have my phones on a UPS to protect them but the phones that are on a UPS survived. This one isn't even on a surge protector - it was but we unplugged everything else on the counter and removed it because it made the counter look cluttered - yet another cost to moving. We desperately need this phone for the new place (it has features our other phones don't have and we are still managing 3 phone lines so need business phones.) So I'm pretty grumpy at the moment.

My email shows I've found a place for my mother's glued back together china. She would chip/break things all the time and my dad would repair for her. Some was always displayed on the top of the china cabinet and I've displayed it in my home as well, because it reminds me of my childhood. It has no value due to the damage. I've found someone who is making mosaic so it will not just be junked but will live on in a new form. I like that idea so am ready to give it up now.

Plan for the day:

* Pack 10 boxes
* research china resale companies - I've got too much and I don't want to move it all
* vacuum, dust, wash floors in prep for tomorrow's open house
* work on the business books for the US accountant
* finish the service for Sunday (edit the prayer and sermon down from 3 years ago.)
* panic

It has become obvious that while our furniture will fit no problem, our 'stuff' won't since our furniture didn't hold every thing we own and despite more closets, there isn't enough storage room. There are two possible solutions. 1) become more ruthless or 2) rent a storage space and continue to downsize from there. I hate to do the latter because it adds to my monthly bills, especially when the house isn't sold so I'll likely be carrying two places at once. I need to cut our expenses somewhere and the logical place would be the cruise next year but dh will never agree to that so it will have to be somewhere else. I'll start by changing our reservation at Whitepoint. Twigging that will save 2 months of storage rental.

Mike is up and in the shower.

I have taken all the china out of the left side and now it is on the floor in the middle. Some of the crystal is on the top of the credenza.

We have been weeding out the stuff that we are now willing to part with.

I want to wash all the crystal before it goes back into a cabinet, but Mike hasn't done his morning kitchen routine. (Boiling water for coffee, which seems to require massive amounts of space to turn around in the kitchen... it's just easier to sit here and wait for a hot tea to be put on my desk.)

Speaking of desks... I can't see the top of mine, or either table top. Coffee table top is also getting worse.

Today's objective is to clear the table in the spare room and the dining room table top. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
