I had a lovely 1-hour nap, really conked out, & sleep so soundly. Dear kitty cat was on the foot of DH's side of our bed. She'd been trying to scratch at my head/face, to get under my blanket, when I pushed her away. I hate her kneading the soft spots of my body! But then I feel so GUILTY because I pushed her away. I feel like what if she feels rejected by her Mama. :?:  Is that silly? Do cats "THINK" like that???? I wonder, sometimes, how "human" my little Princess is, with her facial expressions, her eyes, & cute & adorable mannerisms. She's such a delight, but she must not have been too offended because she's still asleep on that part of the bed, even when I told her, "Hello, Princess!" when I got up. ;)

I'm so glad a smaller bra fits me today. :P It's black, I have 1 in beige just like it, which is the same size. Then, I've got 1 black, 1 beige, 1 dusky blue in the same size in other styles. I'll try them on tonight, to see if they fit, too. I donated one grey & black horizontal striped cotton V-neck sweater to ARC boxes. I hate seeing it "go", but it's so baggy. :!: I think it's good to get rid of baggy clothes, when you've lost weight, because if you don't, then you can put it back on so you can fit back up into it again.

Oh, I just remembered something. Dsis is in UT & she sees sunsets, with a clear big sky, stars, etc... The news last night said tonight there will be some sort of outstandingly beautiful meteor shower. We might not see it here in the Pacific NW because of cloud cover tonight, but I want to tell her AND our CO cousin, about it, so THEY can see it. If Denver's area's clear, then our cousin can see it, too. I'd better run to email them before I forget.

Have a great evening, Everybody! :D This is a quick C. I. to say hello quickly. ;)

I'm hoping mice don't think because we finally got one. Ended up baiting the 'bait-less' sticky trap because the dang thing wouldn't go into it otherwise. Within 2 hours it was trapped.

That's one. We actually think there is at least one other. Because of the addition our basement has two distinct sections with the only path between either through a door or through the rafters. We suspect we have a mouse in each section for no good reason (it isn't as if we shut the doors and we know the mice can get into the ceiling.)

What is weird is that there is absolutely no sign of mouse in the basement. I just cleaned out the whole pantry and no sign of gnawing, nothing is spilled and no mouse droppings. Yet the mouse was caught in the room right next to the pantry and there are plenty of paths between the two rooms since neither is finished.

We will bait the second trap in the other section of the basement and hope for quick results there too. Again, no sign except the flash of the mouse as it races out of our way as we work to get everything packed up. It is tempting to put down the rat poison we put in the attic (to control the squirrels.) I'll may do that after we leave.

Had a nice dinner, enjoyed the tv show, dh picked up another 20 boxes from the liquor store (it is owned by my senior friend's kids and they appreciate all I've done for her) and now he's cooking up bacon for tomorrow's men's breakfast. That means I'll be on my own for cleaning the house tomorrow morning. Sigh.

I made up rice krispie squares and polished the cutlery from my parent's home. They always used silverplate and I did for a while after we shut down their home but then I went back to my stainless for a few reasons, mainly because there wasn't enough for more than dh and I. I polished it and vacuum sealed it years ago and it was in great shape but I did the washing soda, salt, tin foil and boiling water method to clean it up. It is in the dishwasher now, ready to run tomorrow after breakfast. I'll take it to the new place as soon as we get the keys (along with some plates, etc.) and then we can have meals in either house. Once we are fully moved in there, I'll move it back here for ds to use if the house doesn't sell.

Kathryn, DH used to use PB on his mouse trap in the old house & caught them all the time! :!: So did our GR8 mouser cat! :P

Here, in our newer house, the cat brings them to me, to show them to me, drops them out of her mouth, & DH gets on welding gloves, runs all over the great room/dining room area with the cat, trying to catch the mouse! It's quite the "show"! He's huffing and puffing. The cat's trying to figure out what's going ON! And once DH catches them, he puts them outdoors again. They very rarely come in the house, we've never even found a bed, knock on wood. :!:

Had a nice dinner, made calendar reminders, emailed Dsis & Dcousin about the meteor show tonight, & am getting ready to crochet & read. 1 book for DH & 1 book for me, are arriving Thurs. the 29th, so I need to finish a current book I'm reading, which I've been procrastinating on. It's going to be good to get it finished. :)

I'm going to try to put notes in my day planner for June & July, too. I need to add a few items to my office wall calendar, too. I forgot to put down DH's physical. I need to put it in my planner book, too.

Hubby is in a sour mood.
The burger place was closed due to family emergency so had to change dinner plans.
I have done my walk.

Enjoy your "night out" with the girls, Lilac!

Nancy, congrats to your dgd.

Meteor shower - yes, but literally in the middle of the night. Dd has already gone to bed and I don't feel I should awaken her. I'll probably let it pass, even though it is a rare opportunity.

Interested in these girls in my search for pullets/hens. Not too far away - 45 minutes. Pullets, so no worries about that. No charge for one of each. Young, though - 5 weeks. (picture is of slightly older ones) Nancy may recognize breed in the middle as a cuckoo maran, which she's had but I never have. Thinking.

Harriet: ds's friend who got him into all his adventure stuff is leading a group on a hike to the top of a hill away from city light pollution. They leave at midnight so that they'll arrive at the summit close to the peak time for viewing.

Another three boxes of china packed.

Dh, "I don't recall the packing when we left Aldgate to move here."

Me, "That's because you were traveling and/or working at the office in town. I remember packing during nap/school time with my mom. Of course, I also didn't have as much in the dining room, just my fancy things. Not my things, plus my aunt's, your mom's (although thankfully that's just a handful of items) and my mother's, which included all the stuff from my grandmother who had a domestic help and entertained all the time. Back then we had a 3 section wall unit and my childhood glass front cabinet. Now we have my childhood cabinet (which sits in the kitchen) a china cabinet, two secretaries that function as china cabinets and a sideboard."

When the moving company estimator came through he kept saying "And another china cabinet, and another china cabinet...." and made lots of notes!

The dining room packing process has been brought to a halt and that room is show ready again. Other rooms are rough around the edges. The biggest to-do tomorrow will be mopping of floors. I have to remind myself that it really doesn't take long (just 30 minutes for both if I'm at my top form.)

Off to bed now. Dh keeps commenting on how much energy I have. That's because I'm fueled by baked cheetos and Dr. Pepper! Sugar, salt and preservatives!

I ended up having a 3 hour nap. Got most of the china and crystal away. I still have to get into the bottom of the dining room cabinet.

Mike asked tonight "What was the name of those challenges you used to a long time ago? Let's do a challenge." LOL

(((Kathryn)))

Mike and I are supposed to go to Niagara on the Lake sometime this weekend. We also want to go to the lilac garden near the floral clock.

Kathryn - I've used sprinkled pepper to persuade mice / rodents to leave. Some folk claim peppermint oil on cotton balls works for them. The peppermint oil gave me headaches, and the black pepper was a problem for me as well (although perhaps I overdid the quantity), but the white pepper was ok. They like to clean their feet/ fur and so I'm guessing pepper was not welcome to their grooming.
I'm most impressed with your progress packing. You might think about letting go some of the heritage items if there is not the room for it. Someone else could love these things too. Your memories of the loved ones are stored deep in your heart, and there is no leaving that behind.

I've been influenced by the inCanada's and am thinking again / still of moving. Slowly slowly.
I have home help starting in June fortnightly, and am hoping they can help a little. Their main thing is very basic cleaning, and I have asked for help getting organised as well. Bit by bit. I might need to hire someone else who would be more direct - if I could cope with that. In the end personalities and attitudes - mine and theirs - will need a cooperative spirit.
There is a lot to do. a lot to downsize. a lot to consider in end, but will try not to get bogged down in the mean time.
I haven't coped with my house and yard in the last 20+ years so the chances of that suddenly happening is remote. There is a tall tree weed jungle grown way down the back in the meantime.
Just begin.
