Wending Wednesday

Post by helia »

Well, that's almost a tongue twister! :)

Today, I'll be wending my way through preparations for travels and then wending my way down interstates en route to my parents' city. Where will you be wending today? Or maybe you won't be wending as you'll be more directed in your activities today. :)

I got up early for me and started laundry, which I couldn't do last night b/c ds and dd18 were doing laundry. I have also unloaded the dw, s2sed, taken dd15 to school (GG was still running a fever last night), prepped and put 3 cards for moms group child care workers in the mail. . I forgot to do this 2 weeks ago.

I made a hotel reservation last night for our first stop in my parents' city.

Next:
- switch laundry
- finish a.m. routine
- Trader Joes

I'm hoping to leave w/ ds around 12 or 12:30. We will stop by the library as we leave town to hopefully pick up some books on tape.

Today is the only day this week I don't have to be somewhere!

So I'll be wending my way around my home, continuing to pack. The focus of the day is the garage. It is very cold outside which makes outdoor work much more pleasant since the mosquitoes get too sluggish in the cold to bite.

I'm up, s2s, bedroom is show ready, dishwasher emptied, tea and chocolate by my side and blueberries defrosted, waiting for my cereal.

I don't HAVE to be anywhere today, but may wend my way to the grocery store after a stop by the post office to pick up dh's meds (which should be there by now I would think).

Fell asleep last night for just a little then came out to the recliner. In a while decided I could climb back into bed -wrong. Dh had his leg completely across the bed and I couldn't even coax him to move it. Tried that about 3 different times. Finally the 4th he was back on his side & I got in bed. Came out about 7 and dozed for another hour.

Tested my BS after s2s and was about to take my meds & discovered I was all out so had to put them up for 2 weeks. Now I can start my day, wending where that may take me.

Kathryn's right, it's considerably cooler today. I may even have to turn on the heat to take off the chill.

Cooler here today as well. I have not felt mojo for mowing bc if the cold I had last week, & it has rained a bit each nite so I am waiting again for it to dry.

Baked cookies and have eggs cooking to devil later.

I've packed 4 boxes so far from the spare bedroom and exercise room. One more to go and I'll be done those two rooms for now (will have to do more after dd and dsil give up the room and move to their own place.)

Taking a break. Mind is going a mile a minute here.

Just remember to breathe, Kathryn.

Have things pretty well picked up (did my 3-minute round robin of the 5 rooms plus the deck). Trying to concentrate on my closet today. Things have been just 'stashed' in there and I want it neat, neat, neat. Am planning to take everything out of the front bank of cupboards (there are 6 doors and I have a plethora of things stored in there. I'm sure at least part of it can go and I can put more things away.)

Our neighbors across the road arrived late yesterday and brought us 6 Vidalia onions. Sure ddil will gladly take some of those. I also have regular onions in the fridge so need to use some up. I remember dd grilling some on their grill in FL -yum. I definitely don't like raw onions but I sure do like them grilled & pan fried.

I've had one large boot box sitting here & it was heavy. Finally decided today to see what was in it as I couldn't remember. It's a few books to go up to the camp library. Dh was meant to take those at least 2 weeks ago. I'll get them there sometime in the next couple of days -when it's open. That's the problem -it's at one end of the arcade room and that's not always unlocked. Have a bunch of books -almost all Amish fiction- under our bed. Think I'll take them with me this fall and perhaps put them in our church library down there. More room to store lesser used things. Wish I could figure out a way to get that bed lifted on my own. There are hydraulic lifts there, but I don't think they ever worked as such. The problem with the bed is that the base is plywood and hinges at the very back of the bed. Most hinge part way back and it just makes it to heavy to lift alone. :|

Good Morning!

This morning I have managed to give myself a swollen eye and cut across nose bridge. I was decluttering a walk-in closet by removing a stack of frames from upper shelf and carrying them out of the closet. When I reach the closet door I thought they were narrow enough to go through.....Wrong. They hit & came to a sudden stop however my face proceed forward....well, it did until my eye and nose slammed into the edge of the frames I was carrying. I have been icing my face for the past 30 minutes. Not sure how much the icing will help to minimize the swelling and bruising, but it does help reduce the pain. One eye & nose is already swollen and tender. I suspect I will have an impressive black/blue eye for the next few days.

Been on phone with DMom discussing options to help extended family. DAunt was put into hospital yesterday with terminal cancer in her brain. The doctor gave a 2 month timeline guessamate for DAunt. DUncle & DCousins are clueless about everything and are having problems making decisions how to proceed. DAunt always took care of everything. DUncle doesn't know where long term care policy is....etc, etc, etc DCousins have busy lives - professionally (doctor, lawyers, pilot) and personally and are now scrambling to arraign their schedules to make DAunt end of life care a priority. DMom stayed all last night with DAunt in the hospital and will stay until one of DCousins arrive at noon today. Heartbreak & chaos.

Menu -
B - B&G sausage, eggs, milk, OJ
L - Beans & rice, mixed greens
D - chicken (crockpot), potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, celery
