Hello to everyone. This will be quick, we have a storm beginning to roll in, I've heard thunder.
Ivy, hope the dentist appointment went well. DH just made appointment for his, has to wait a couple weeks till the dentist comes back from vacation. He has a couple broken teeth. I haven't been to dentist in a while for cleaning. Oh, well, there goes the money.
Harriet, I hope your chicken has just wandered off somewhere and finds her way back. Nancy, glad the dog didn't hurt the chickens. We had stray dog once molest one of our sheep which died. Was very sad.
Hugs to OKay and Cowinkie for injuries. Aw, gals, too bad that happened.
I did big cleanup of desk and files and in boxes and bulletin board and stuff looks very nice now. Going to pharmacy to see about Rx that either has or has not been ordered... I'd call but I get their automated system, and I definitely need new prescription for tomorrow. It's been a quiet day around here. Was doing computer maintenance, so couldn't get on to get info I needed for writing a proposal.
Kathryn, I'd rather have my bikes in side where they were safe. But then I'm not as concerned with appearances, I guess. We had a couple big truck tires in an inside entryway for a while so they wouldn't get stolen off the front before we had them mounted. So I'm used to that sort of thing around here.

Toddler N has left. Dgson was a no show.
Rainy & cool here today had to turn on the heat. Glad it is fixed!
I think I will try to watch the new show called "Turn" on net flicks if it come up there as it comes on too late for me.

Re: Wending Wednesday
My face owie is doing A-Okay. There is a marble size lump above my eye and a small gash across my swollen nose. Apparently the owies are fairly obvious because everyone who has seen me all immediately said the same thing..... "WHAT HAPPENED?!" DDIL told me this was my opportunity to develop an interesting & exaggerated story to tell.....
Today I spent a good part of my day doing what others needed. I'm glad I made the choice, but it does leave my things undone.
** 2 hours on phone listening to DMom talk about DAunt and the options.
** 1.5 hour was spent talking with DDIL while she drove home from attending a friends funeral. She was tired, on a long boring highway and needed to keep her mind busy.
** 3.5 hours was spent visiting DAunt & family in hospital and bringing DMom home. Then I went to post office and got DMom's mail. STRANGE. DMom called the post office and told them to hold her mail because she was going to be gone when it was to be delivered to her mailbox in front of her house. this makes NO sense. The mail has been delivered there for the 60 years without a problem. I saw several instances of DMom doing strange things today. I think she is major stressed and "spinning". Hopefully she will get a good night sleep and her mind will clear.

Re: Wending Wednesday
OKay get Ivy to write you a story to tell!
I packed paintings and got everything I could packed up. There are still 10 to do and only 2 boxes (but those can hold up to two each.) I couldn't pack any more because I'm out of bubble wrap and will need two more rolls or one larger roll to finish this stuff up.
I'm up to 11 boxes for today and dh did 3 or 4 as well. He's been moving things into the car.
I started dinner and then we walked for the mail. Had a long chat with the post mistress and then walked part way home with the former Anglican minister. Dinner was luckily in the counter-top oven and it has a timer mechanism that stops the elements when time is up so the fact we got home 70 minutes after putting the dinner in the oven didn't mean it was overcooked. The elements had gone of 20 minutes earlier so we finished it up while we made up the veggies and had a nice dinner. Dh is pleased at how empty the freezer is getting.
I made up two 9 x 13 pans of pineapple squares for the church supper. So that is done. It felt good to bake instead of pack, although dh and I packed a few boxes while the oven preheated. The house smells good too! I used my old mixer and my nose tells me the motor may not be long for this world. I'll leave it unpacked because if ds does move in here he likes to bake. All my baking mess is cleaned up except the pans themselves.
I think I might take a break now. The house is coming along very, very, well. I just realized I need to buy a microwave so will start researching that now. I don't want to move my 28 year old, 500W microwave. Pleased it is still working fine, though!

Re: Wending Wednesday
Y'all probably think I just ran away and curled up under the afghan... b/c I promised I'd have something to show for my efforts. Well -- not much but I did manage a few items to check off my list:
[x] call dmom
[x] finish laundry
[x] babysit dgs while ddil goes to walk-in clinic (stomach distress)
[x] errands
-- drug store
doctor STILL has not updated dmil's rx
-- called doctor's office again
-- grocery store for dmil
[x] visited dmil w/dh
[x] supper for us
[x] read the paper
Now I do need a nap...
Still OMM...
Maybe tomorrow...
[ ] reconcile checkbook statement
[ ] iron
[ ] walk
[ ] take quilt to dsgm to * hopefully * repair
[ ] whb
[ ] s/s toilets

Re: Wending Wednesday
Hi, Quick C. I. I went to the dentist today, to see what's up with a molar bothering me. I ended up staying there for 3+ hours getting a root canal done. 2 of my roots curled back, so it was very hard for my dentist to get to. It'd been the hardest root canal he'd done/seen for quite some time. Why did it have to be mine? Now I'm on a soft diet, need to eat yogurt, double-up on probiotics, take prescribed Ibuprofen, Vicodin, & Amoxycillin. (sp)?
I'm very tired.
DH & I saw his buddy's recycle bin blown over in the wind, so I asked DH to call his buddy, as they may be out-of-town & DH could go right it up & put the stuff back into it. He called his buddy, they're out-of-town so DH did his good deed. It's highly windy here, but T-storms didn't come, nor rain.
I was freezing nearing the end of the root canal, so I got a blanket, so cozy, I told the gal I wanted to take it home! Then, when she told me it was the hardest root canal she's ever assisted on, I laughed and said, "Then, YOU should be paying ME!" I was kidding, of course. We'd saved up for the root canal & it was exactly what we'd saved!
Tomorrow I'll try to start my round robin #1, #2, #3 work. I love to get the house looking "company ready" although no company's coming. It will give me a chance this weekend to relax, read, crochet, & write. I have some poetry to do & a story.
Oh, this was a quick C. I.?
Lucylee, I DID run away & curl up under a blanket- at the dentist's!
..... I'm glad you got so much done!
Kathryn, I don't know if OKay would want me to write her story.
About getting hurt? OUCH! It would be a lesson for me, to write a story about a lot of klutzy moves, by one main character, who ends up needing eyeglasses. I have a really stupid deed I did as a young married young mother of a toddler & baby. I was carving hemlock wood, from our housebuilding in 1975, with a fish knife, & there went a hunk of knuckle & I ended up with a skin graft on it. It was my middle finger of my left hand, the plastic surgeon said to hold my hand, which bandaged was a cucumber size, up above my heart for a week. When we went shopping, it looked like I was flipping the dirty bird off to everybody in the grocery store. My most embarrassing moment
was when a group of teenaged boys from high school saw me & laughed & laughed!
I guess we all have our moments. My Dson had to have others change his diaper, as I was one-handed, we were painting the house we were having built, to save on $ & I wasn't much help.
I went back to the Dr., he unwrapped my bandages & said, hold my hand above my heart for 10 more days!
I was mortified. I was only in the twenties, too, about 23 or so. Young, immature, green....
OH, reading further, Kathryn, I "SEE" now, where I "COULD" tell a story for OKay to tell. How about if she rented a horse at a horse barn rental place, she fell off the raring horse, then when it bucked, it got her in the face? That's believable, of course, unless there are no horse ride rentals near by. Tripped and fell into a row of carts at the grocery store?
Was loading lumber off a truck, because she was going to build raised flowerbeds, & then a board hit her in the face, when someone else didn't know she was behind them. It'd make her sound very creative, she is a gardener, is strong enough to unload timber, etc... We want Okay to look good.
We're honestly trying to make you feel better, OKay & not make "fun". It's embarrassing to have on your face what you do. We're trying to make you laugh.
Waving to Harmony, Nancy, Harriet, Cowinkie, Booksaver, Sadie, & Okay. I'm a bit "woozie" & sick to my tummy, dead tired exhausted & have some laundry to dry. I'm trying to be quiet so DH can hear his last part-3 of a 3-night mini-series on World War II. If I don't post anymore tonight, I will tomorrow, between my rounds. I expressed to my dentist, "Do I need to take it easy for a few days? I like to do laundry, dishes & clean house for exercise, so I'm up & down. Do I need to just rest?" He, luckily, said I can do anything I normally do!
JUST TAKE MY PILLS!

Re: Wending Wednesday
Getting overwhelmed by what I have to buy to make my life perfect (tongue was firmly in my cheek there!)
1. Dishes in black and white instead of cream and blue
2. Black microwave in black
3. Fancy electric kettle with cool blue light (in black)
4. Black dish drainer
5. Black cooking ladle & stir stick
6. Black utensil holder for the counter
I'll go as slow as I can with this. I'm sure my silver water jug from my childhood will do for the utensil holder. The ladle and stir stick will be very inexpensive. I might wait and ask for my kettle for my birthday.
The dish drainer will have to wait until we see what we'll do for ergonomics and arrangement of the kitchen cupboards. Going from too many to reasonable amount is going to be quite the exercise.
The microwave and dishes are top priority. The microwave because then I'll have one in each kitchen while we are a dual household and the dishes, partly for that reason and partly because they celebrate the newness of our place and my goal to switch from a country kitchen style to a chic, urban style.
Hmmm, maybe OKay got head butted by a cow she was shooing back into the pasture! (And Ivy, she doesn't need a horse rental place, she could just ride some of the horses at church or at her brother's.)

Re: Wending Wednesday
I took a medium size walk before dinner. The sun came out and it was lovely. Got the driveyway swept too. Living room is back in order now, got on with a bit more surfaces dusted.
Junk mail has slowed down a lot after h. got us on the "do not send list", sort of like "do not call only" for mail.
