TEEMING TUESDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

Hopefully it's "teeming" sunshine where you are -here it is pouring. Sure glad dh got out and watered all our plants and our neighbor's this morning. May your day be 'teeming' with accomplishments.

I wanted to go do a LOL very early, BUT it's pouring down out there and all I have is the open golf cart. Dh took the car to the dentist -has another 1 hour appointment at 8. He came out and slept in the recliner as (evidently sleeping prone) his gums had swollen quite badly. Said he slept great out here. I've already told him that when his db/dsil come later this month that we're sleeping in the recliners and giving them our bed. It really is easier than pulling out the sofa (which is not very comfortable at any rate). Hopefully they won't be here more than 2 or 3 nights. Suppose they could sleep in dd's MH -we'll see. Think dd will be in D.C. for the TSA National's (Technology Student Assoc). They have quite a few students going this year. They have to qualify through 'state's' first. I'll have to ask dd about that -her MH will be set up. She's not going to 'store' it while she's gone because it'll be July3rd by the time she comes back & there would be no place to park it at that point. It will be 'condensed' camping at the very best anyway.

I finally started emptying our front cabinets yesterday -as well as the one corner cabinet facing the living room from our kitchen counter. Hoping to have a better 'flowing' plan when I'm done. Plus the present situation with dh's job, etc has me really thinking about downsizing some more. I've been so worried about having to possibly move that I'm almost paralyzed. That had me thinking even more about the things that dks would have to go through someday. So I'll try to be even more brutal about getting rid of things. Kathryn's move and Cathy's cleaning out and all the rest of you who have to clean out other's places. And I should know after cleaning out my own Mom & DAd's our dShelley's places, etc, etc. I should really know all this by now.

I have decided that many of the things I've kept here can go to DD's in FL -now that we have an additional room. Things like books, pictures, etc. I'll have room to store them in a more constant environment. Here everything is subjected to sub freezing temps all winter and some to high heat (those things stored in our storage unit) through the summer. Can't be good for lots of things. Do have a couple of stands in there -one an antique. It should go to DS-R but he really doesn't want it. Dh's grandfather made it -a plant stand with all inlaid wood. It's a beautiful piece but won't be much longer if it stays in this storage. So guess I'll take it to DD's -she can do whatever with it once we're gone.

Dee: I did great with getting rid of furniture (still have some to go but have mentally parted with it) but I didn't get rid of as much 'stuff' (boxes, painting, linens) as I would have wanted to. I think there will be two periods of panic. First when I try to put everything we moved into the apartment and secondly when we deal with everything we left behind at the house before closing the sale (whenever that happens.)

Dh asked if we can get rid of our kitchen table (store for dd or ds) and buy a bar table for the kitchen. Dh wants to continue to use our bar stools from the pizza place (which are at our kitchen bar counter), plus sitting up high will give us the view over the balcony railing. IKEA has a nice stainless and white one but out of stock. There is a black wood one that will work well but it is dark and I think would look out of place in the kitchen (which is all white and/or stainless with just a touch of pine and then black accent touches. I think the black one would look to 'heavy' in the room so want to wait. Google shows nothing else from Walmart or Lowes so we'll ask at IKEA when we are there.

Today we are loading the car now, then heading to the accountant, on to IKEA for the kitchen cart and then to the apartment to install all the things we've bought so far. That way the kitchen will be ready for me to unload things into the cupboards.

Good morning! I have been out of the loop here for a while. .. I tried to post yesterday in both Texas airports to no avail; ISPs are blocked, not surprisingly.

Travel adventures yesterday: My flight out of Austin was delayed by 3 hours due to maintenance issues. Fine. Except it turned out they actually cancelled the flight, and put me on another flight (3:15 later than the original one) w/out telling me. . . Long story, I'll spare you the details, but yes, I kept checking the board at the original gate, which had the original flight number and said it was delayed, with a time 3 hours later. I even hung out there near the gate, assuming that was where I'd be boarding. Well, 3 hours later, I was becoming increasingly puzzled b/c there was no activity at our gate - but the gate next to it was boarding to Dallas, which was the destination of my original flight. So, I checked with the guy at that desk, and yes, I was on that flight, and he printed off a boarding pass for me. SO glad I asked. He did say he'd called my name, but I don't remember that. Maybe it was the 3 minutes when I ducked into the ladies room?? The airline had also rebooked my connecting flight from Dallas to Detroit, but per the airlines instructions, I had called earlier and knew about that one. So, it was a flight 7 hours later than the original. I had about 4.5 hours in the Dallas airport before I needed to board the next flight. This also meant we landed in Detroit at midnight. Then, I waited at the luggage belt for all the luggage to be unloaded. My bag wasn't there. So, I went to the airline's luggage office. They scanned my luggage tag - and lo and behold, my bag was still in Dallas. :!: :?: Assuming it was on my first flight, they had 4.5 hour hours to get it onto my flight to Detroit. I'm not sure what the baggage handlers were about yesterday. Supposedly, it will be dropped off this afternoon. . . I finally got home at 1:30 a.m. with no luggage. This is not the airline dh and I usually use. I'm not very impressed. . .

Unbeknownst to me until a phone conversation with dh last night, dh has a business trip in Boston today and tomorrow. So, he left early this morning. LOL! We were like 2 ships passing in the night. I got to bed around 2 a.m. He got up around 6:30 a.m. He'll be back tomorrow in time for dd18's graduation, he says.

Anyhow, I also hope today will be teeming with accomplishments! So far, it has mainly been teeming with bodily fluids being deposited on our downstairs hallway carpet. First, Pepper used the down hallway to relieve herself while I was taking dd15 to school. Dd15 fed the dogs but then left them inside while we drove to school. That is not a problem for Maia, but it is for Pepper. I was a little concerned while we were driving. . . .Cleaned that up. Then GG, who is staying home b/c of a pretty severe cough, threw up en route to the bathroom after a coughing bout. Dd18 was in the bathroom, so the hallway was the de facto repository. . . .Cleaned that up. . . .

We are teeming with sunshine! It looks like a beautiful day!

Done:
x dd15 to school
x clean up Pepper's mess
x clean up GG's mess
x cleaned up the tea I spilled in my van; I gave my paper towel roll to ds so didn't have anything at the time
x called in GG's absence today

Today''s running around and must-dos:
- eye appt. at 10:30
- groc. store
- pick up dd15 from school at 3:30
- dd15 to oboe lesson at 4:30
- laundry

I'm off to work on the a.m. routine.

Looks like Helia's 'teeming' with Emergency Clean Up on Aisle (you fill the blank).

Been 'teeming' with changes in my cupboard arrangements. Now have all my (3) slow cookers in a corner cabinet. (One is a large, 1 small and 1 extra small -I use them all for different things).

Had to stop to find salt for dh for a rinse. Hmmm....I have none. Took some from the salt shaker & it's now on my grocery list. I need a glass container to put it in since it will stay in the cupboard in the deep freeze. I probably have something. Did find a pile of plastic containers -I had bought a whole bunch at Ikea a few years ago and rarely used them. Gave all the rest to our friend at camp who cooks so much. Knew I had more somewhere -aha! Did find an extra lid when we had the water explosion this weekend so will send them all over there with dh later this week. Found a whole tube of tall plastic cups. Since I know dd already has a sleeve of them I'll just add these to it -she'll never know the difference. :?

Good morning, villagers ~
DH took a vacation day and stayed home yesterday, which is always nice, but always messes up my Monday routine.

Even so, I managed to go to the post office to pick up the mail, the library group's bank to deposit income from the first day of book sales, the library to check in with staff, the library again to pick up some books for a friend, and out to supper with DH. I also worked through the month-end financial reports for the library group and sent those out.

Trying to remember what I did last night ... I know I recorded The Beatles movie A Hard Day's Night on TCM. Apparently I spent most of the evening catching up on reading blogs on the internet.

This morning so far I have made coffee (sometimes that's the most important task of the day ;) ), answered several Emails, reconciled the sewing group's bank accounts, and worked through the first draft of the sewing group's financial reports for May. I had to wait for their bank to update the savings account interest, which for whatever reason they did not post until this morning.

Tonight the sewing group board is meeting for what the president called a "planning meeting." The ones I've talked to agree with me that we aren't sure what that means, whether we will be brainstorming about plans for the rest of the year, or if she has made plans and wants to give the rest of us assignments. Either way, I'm really hoping this meeting will allow us all to finally talk through some issues that have been ongoing, and resolve a couple conflicts.

For example, the pres has decided that she is the only one who can be allowed to see the list of who belongs to our sewing group. Several board members, including myself as treasurer, frequently need to have the full current member list to do our jobs. I have been asking for the list since January, and when she finally last week sent me an Email to tell me her decision, I was upset. Rather than fly off the handle, I discussed the issue with our board secretary, to ask her if she thought I was over-reacting. She was more upset that I and agrees with me that the decision makes no sense, but we decided to wait until this meeting with everyone present to ask for the explanation.

Anyway, whatever happens tonight will help me decide whether or not to stay on the sewing group board after this year. My commitment is through December.

I'm going to go throw a load of laundry in the washer before I take a second look at financial reports.

I ended up going back to bed for awhile because my tummy was upset. I think it was my vitamin - sometimes can upset the tummy. Also have a headache going. Will eat something soon and take a ibuprofen for the head.

I need to get rolling now in a major way. Today is broken up with a dermatologist appt at 12:50, then probably picking up ds. (Disappointed - dh had said earlier in the week he would pick up and then they would go car shopping but now it's just car shopping on the agenda, good enough.)

Ivy, the only thing I really use from the pomodoro technique is the timer - there are lots of little apps and programs for it. About the same as working at the TOTH to :45 after also. Since it's the TOTH I'll work that plan for now and ck back at 11:45.
-walk ddogs
-call re: annual report to court for dsis
-finish kitchen clean up
-reboot laundry
-continue w a.m. routine

((helia)) what a confusing 3-hour wait time. Calling a name once is not sufficient in that situation.

BookSaver, no, keeping the secretary and/or treasurer from having a copy of the membership list doesn't make sense, especially if either or both of you have already encountered needs for it. On a personal level for you, it is somewhat silly, since you are the past president up until the end of last year, right? What information could possibly be a surprise to you since then. Is she trying to take on more and more responsibility to the president's office and leave less and less for other officers? What happens when the next officers don't like that? Unless little green seamstresses from Mars have joined quietly, there's no reason to hide names, and, hey, if they have joined, they might have some pretty helpful sewing techniques to share.

Dd34's appt today included an ultrasound and they also did a "non-stress test". Everything is completely normal. They offered to induce, but she declined and will just wait until next appt, which is Friday.

HRH will be making a grocery store run on his way home today, which is helpful.
