Hello, villagers ~
I was up at the library all day for the last part of the book sale. We were open to the public 9 to 3, so I walked up at 8. We still had customers all the way through to 3:15ish which made it quite a long day. The group stayed long enough to box up the remaining books and get them into the storage closet temporarily, and take down all the tables. Someone vacuumed the carpet. I started walking home about 4:15ish and got a bit damp in the "scattered showers."

I don't know for sure what will happen to the leftover books. In theory, a couple of the volunteers will load up their vehicles and take them to a used book store in The Big City. They didn't want to do it tomorrow and I have to turn in my key Monday afternoon. They have said they will figure out a time to go during the library's normal open hours. I'm happy to forget about it for now and hope it doesn't roll back around to my to-do list.

My job is to finish counting the money, make the bank deposit, and send everyone a final report. I tried counting the money a little while ago and came up with a different number when I recounted, so I'm going to leave it alone until tomorrow.

DH took me out for pizza for supper. While we were there, we had quite a heavy downpour which meant lots of the festival activities were cancelled. We had hoped to go to the classic car show. However, it was to be outside. I'm sure those people raced the cars to their garages at the first sign of sprinkles.

There were 2 bands scheduled to play tonight, but I am much too tired to even think about going to see if they will still go on. I'm going to watch the sewing shows I recorded this afternoon, and then will probably limp up to bed.

I'm spending far too much time cleaning up from mistakes.

Two nights ago, the dishwasher deposited crud all over the clean dishes. Turns out I haven't cleaned it in years and we have the bad habit of opening the door when it gets to the dry cycle and not letting the machine do that final pump out of the dirty water below the filter. As a result, there was a very greasy, dirty, messy, place for me to clean out. Haven't run it since to see if I got it all (I did run it on rinse/hold and then triggered another pumping.)

Tonight, a tupperware bowl of frozen squares fell on the concrete floor by the freezer and broke. So I had to find another container for the squares (not easy now that everything's packed.)

Not 5 minutes later, I dropped a can of 7-up on the pantry floor and the can sprayed all over. I've mopped the concrete floor, wiped down all the food that got soaked and wiped down all the shelves. Hopefully, the ants won't move in until after the house is sold.

Tomorrow, I'm taking salad, squares and will make a fruit punch for the potluck. That will get more food out of my pantry/freezer.

I've emptied the coats from the foyer into a box but it may be too heavy to lift. I was looking for the tape gun to seal it when I saw I had washed the berries so we took a break and had those.

Back to work (or bed, whichever comes first!)

Went to spinning meetin'.
Then to gun show witn h. We got sans out did not use the odkit. I cleaned gutters in spurts but got it done!
Got a few things at the store more yarn & fiber for crafting.
Got baskets for toddlern to yse in her dad's wedding.
Gota scoot timd to check on the water.
Said with a definite western' "twang"...
No r in washinton here it is a pet peeve off lots of locals. I am an oroganoin.

We have Sundrop & Cheerwine here -- dh ALWAYS has diet Sundrop in the refrigerator, and I think ds keeps Cheerwine on hand pretty often. I like Sundrop, but most of the time, I go for the cola-type beverages, and I'm not a Coca-Cola "snob" -- I'll drink Pepsi just as happily, makes no real difference to me, but if given a choice, I'll choose Coke, just out of habit. Glad to know Pepsi is Southern, too, Harriet!
I have definitely heard "putting my face on" and... hmmm... I think I sometimes put an R in "wash," too. One of my fellow teachers told me that was a sort of Appalachian-dialect holdover, too.
You'ns... yep... although I think y'all is more common here.
I probably just have weird pronunciations of things though. I have been asked on more than one occasion if I were from somewhere else -- the most amazing, ENGLAND, of all places! I just said no... I've never actually lived anywhere except here in the same little town where I was born! I said maybe my speech patterns were the result of a very Southern/country/redneck girl trying to sound educated and worthy of her profession. LOL.

We watched the race. I haven't really followed California Chrome's story until just the last couple of days, but I think his owner had a point -- maybe only horses that race in the Kentucky Derby should be allowed to run in the Triple Crown races. I don't know. Like I said, I'm not really into horse racing and certainly don't know enough about it to discuss it.

We visited dmil, then went out to eat... rode around for a while (and into a TERRIBLE rain storm) and now we're home w/dh watching the Braves. Dmil is very, very weak. She is still throwing up a little bit -- not EVERY time she eats, but still occasionally... and is eating VERY little. Getting kinda worried here... especially with us having plans to be gone a couple of nights at the first of next week.

Nancy, Do YOU put an "R" in Washington or washing, too? Are you a Native of WA, too? Or did you migrate from another area? I had a great aunt/uncle who had a farm in West Wapato when I was a kid. They're gone now though. DH had a great aunt and uncle with an asparagus farm in Sunnyside. They're gone now, too, but duncle's dnephew took over the farm, which bordered his farm. He saw to it that daunt got the best of care at an assisted living place, too.

Once, when I was in my early 20's, the 10 or 11-year-old neighbor girl came over to visit me one day. She looked at my "to do" list, to see what I'd been up to that day. I'd written "LAUNDARY" instead of "LAUNDRY". I'd always said "laundry" with an extra "A" in it, so wonder if that's a Native WA-tonian thing too? Anyway, she told me how I'd spelled it wrong, told me the correct spelling and I've been writing it correctly, but still saying it with an extra syllable ever since. It's funny.

Then, before I'd even met my MIL, we'd exchanged letters. I wrote one day how I'd vaccuumned. She wrote back to state I'd spelled vacuum incorrectly. I thought she was an old bag being highly critical of me. I wrote back, told her I'd looked it up in the dictionary and THANK YOU for letting me know because I was embarrassed I'd been a good speller in school and made this mistake.

When I write out a story by hand, I find myself crossing out words, to put in one, which sounds more intelligent. When I go to Word, I'm truly shocked I'd spelled a complicated word correctly. I used to win spelling bees and loved spelling tests, too. Boy, I'm sure glad I wasn't a writer in my Landary or Vaccumning days!
