Let today be a soothing day to compensate for all the week's problems or troubles. May you all find a peaceful day.

Helia, I believe I know where you were staying -just 2 or 3 properties away from where we spent our time in Honolulu. Do they still have the penguins? Used to stroll down there so dd could watch them the one trip that she was there with us.

I was up about 5:30 & went back to bed. I've had my meds along with some juice (bs was 62). Had to turn on the furnace this morning. Think high is supposed to reach 70 today but warmer tomorrow.

Have (what I fear will be a long) meeting tomorrow after worship. We will be discussing the new sanctuary roof and renovations to the sanctuary. Think the architects had estimated $75,000 & we voted to approve $100,000 to be sure we had an adequate amount. But from all I heard Monday night the figure is closer or above to $200,000. Big difference I fear. Sure there will be lots of opinions -hope I'm wrong. If we wait, it'll only go higher.

Think I'll have breakfast and coffee then start my day. Loved getting on the scale this morning. I now have lost that 10#, Harriet!

I am awake but still in bed. The sun is blinding so drapes are on our to do list today. There is a concert tonight that I want to go to.

New bed is not motionless. It is fine except when the other person moves. Then there is rocking.

Sure that's another newbie that will take getting used to, Kathryn. At least your lease time will give you time to decide that this is (or is not) the place for you and you'll be able to list what you do and do not want another time. Though I'm sure you've had enough moving for now! Know my mind is beginning to swim with thoughts of moving yet again in a year or 2. But if I can learn from you, I might be more ready to make that move this time. Not like the last when dh, dd & ds's cleared out 40+ years of living in our house. I'd love to get back in that attic as I'm sure everything that was up there is still there. Was remembering a carved sign that our dks had made for us a long time ago -that we would hang when we went camping. Just remembered that one the other day & I'm sure it's in the attic along with other camping stuff. Would love it to hang out here. Oh well, it's only a 'thing'.

Hopefully you can start to wind down a little bit, Kathryn. Let today truly be soothing one for you. Thank you to you and Okay for reiterating how much a 3-minute round robin can do. I no longer shudder when guests come unannounced -even though usually things were pretty good, I just rarely 'felt; they were. My 'knee-jerk' reaction is still often to think "oh no" & glance around & just say "come on in". I even include our deck now in that round robin.

Just re-organized the freezer so now that's acceptable -even to me. Tomorrow I'll catch the fridge.

It is really cool out this morning -upper 50's. Brrr....had the heat on. Need to go for a walk but need it to be just a tad warmer. Need to get my shopping list done. Have a dance recital for dsgd14 at 1 & am meeting ddil/dgs22months at 12:45. Need to go pick up a part for the campground for dh first so will leave early. Today is "Kids Fun & Safety" day. There'll be fire departments, sheriff's dept, race cars, etc, etc plus crafts and such for kids. DS-A was going to bring dgs14's race car but they found parts on it that need replacing before tonight. It's supposed to be sunny today but you wouldn't know it yet. Hope the weatherman was right. Dh plans to go to DGS's race this evening -Grandma stays home.

Trying to decide if I want to dishes or not. There's only a 1/4 handful at this point -may wait till after lunch.

Need to get out on the deck and do my 3 minutes -guess I can brave the 'cool' that long.

We are heading to a b'nai mitzvah at the other synagogue today. Was a little surprised to be invited but the father and dh have been friends since they were single guys together. In between the morning service and evening party, I need to go out to buy cards (for both kids plus father's day) and finally put together the lasagne and get it in the freezer. I hope no one gets sick from my lollygagging on getting this together!

Possibly another trip back to festival tonight a very dear friend is playing on one of the side stages at 9 pm. If we can discreetly leave the party early, dh wants to go. Closing night with fireworks at 11 - I'm thinking that the b'nai mitzvah party ends at 10:30 so people can go see fireworks.

Lucylee, has your ds every played at this festival?

Helia, Hawaii sounds wonderful. Dh and I should go someday, but from here the Caribbean is so much closer and doesn't take so long to fly there. I know you're enjoying the downtime together.

Kathryn, just keep chipping away at it. For me, a lot of it was just getting boxes unloaded and into a space. Organization could be tweaked later once I could see groupings.

Great advice for any time, Twins, not just when we're moving. I can see how much easier it's getting to stay organized when I manage to put like things with like. Not that I never did this, just not all the time.

Think it's getting a bit brighter out. Better get out dh's warm & fuzzies for the races tonight. He'll be cold.

I 'chipped away' some more. Need to s2s and start laundry so I can remake spare bed and our bed with fresh sheets. I'm now finding the need to do housework is impeding the need to unpack (and vice-versa.) This place is really, really, dusty. I'm hoping it will settled down after all the commotion is over.

Boat! There are sail boats up in the bay (above the set of rapids to our west) but today there is a boat between those rapids and the ones in front of us (and there's another set just east of here.)

Just having my tea now. Skipping chocolate this morning because I pigged out on licorice.

We got up about 6:30 a.m. and I'm heading to breakfast now.

Hawaii is beautiful, from what I've heard from family and friends.

I keep yawning, so wonder if a morning nap is in my future.

Looking at 2 cute kitty cats on my desk calendar next to the laptop. They each have a plaid neck tie with white collar on. So cute. The photos bring such big smiles on my face.

Good morning all! Soothing Saturday - very apropos for us today. As dh commented yesterday after his conference was over, "Now, summer begins." Indeed, I'm through the insanely busy couple of weeks. Girls are done with school and all its activities. Yay! Dd16's A- (92) was in a class that is accelerated/honors, so it is weighted as if it were an A. Kind of dubious in our opinion (though common, from what we hear - our school doesn't weight crazily like we've heard some schools do), but nice for dd16 to keep her GPA, though I don't think she really cares that much. . . Dd16 heads off to church summer camp tomorrow, but the family of her bff has agreed to take her. I'll drive out to pick her up Thursday night.

Yes, Dee, that's right! We were at that Hilton - and they do have a couple penguins! LOL! Dh and I wondered about that since we're pretty sure penguins are not a native species to Hawaii and are made for colder climes - but they seemed happy enough.

Twins, I said the exact same thing to dh yesterday!! Yes, Hawaii is gorgeous with the ocean and mountains - but it takes us longer to get to Hawaii than to Europe, and the time change is the same: 6 hours. It took me about 14 hours to get here. We will have to do the Caribbean sometime, and then I'll be here asking for recommendations.

Honolulu is a bit crowded and touristy for me, which is why I prefer other parts of Hawaii. From our room at this resort, we can see the ocean with green mountains in the background. I believe we are situated on a quiet bay in Princeville, the north side of Kauai, the side that gets a fair bit of rain but also puts us closer to the Na Pali Coast (cliffs!) and the mountains. We tend to head for nature wherever we are, as you probably know by now!!

Still, I'm a simple midwest girl at heart, and we'd guess some of the guests here are from huge $$ backgrounds. But, I could just be a little bit overly self-conscious. I know I'm not extremely stylish, but I can clean up nice and neat, at least. I'll enjoy our 3 nights here. Only 2 more - but a good 2.5 days to explore the mountains!

Of course, I discovered my camera was broken the day of dd18's graduation, so I can't take photos. (I very stupidly left it at the bottom of my roller non-hard case suitcase during my trip to Austin, which was fine for the car trip part but not fine for the airplane travel part. So, it's my fault.) But I'm hoping to use dh's phone and take some. I used my phone in Honolulu, but I have a "dumb" flip phone still, and I'm not sure the camera is as good.

Off to the adventures.
