WEDNESDAY WONDERS

Post by DeeClutter »

It is a wondrous day. Been very stormy here but getting slowly nicer. Still having power and internet problems so probably won't be on very long. Know dh said the campground is at about 80% power. Someone came knocking on the door at 6am because they couldn't get out of the campground to go to work. Dh had to go up and open the gate with the manual bypass.

Glad you're adding things you can enjoy in your new abode, Kathryn. Enjoy your time with dd today. You're right it is precious. I even need reminding myself sometimes.

Dneighbors lost their awning and the electric arms in the storm yesterday afternoon. Very nice one too! This is the same friend battling ovarian cancer. Know it sent her for a loop -but could be so much worse.

DD will leave Fl this morning to go to Brunswick, GA to 'scope' out the area to look for a place for dsonil to possibly locate for a while. I don't even want to 'go there' in thinking about what this change may mean for us. And of course we won't really know until tomorrow after his 2nd interview. But the company itself is sounding very positive.

Morning Dee and ya'll...
I am up and working on my morning routines. Drinking my coffee while sitting the guess bed. I'm here so the tv doesn't wake Sweetie. Sadie TWD has joined me ... She been limping around for a bit so I will take her to the vet to have her checked out. She's almost 14 so it may be just a bit of "old age". However she hopped up on this bed to be with me and she hasn't done that in a while. Glad to have her company.

Need to start switch up some of my routines if I'm going to continues going to the gym in the mornings. Need to think about that, so I think I'll do twins slot switching game. Don't lie leaving the house in the morning without the house completely done. That's the old "P&P" in me :)

Hope ya'll will find something to make your day fun... Kathryn, being with your daughter should always trump unpacking. It will be there waiting when you get home. I'd give anything to live near my son and have a "normal" relationships instead of of one where we talk over the phone and I only get to see him twice a year.

Was in bed 8 hours last night. Woke up reasonably ready to get on with the day but dragging because it was a shower morning and I hate the shower to the point of dreading it.

Started unpacking to look for dh's eczema med (which I found in an illogical spot so wonder if I don't have an old bottle.) The boxes are now out of the bedroom. There are still a few things without homes and lots that needs arranging in new places, but for now there is a lot of space. We have issues with bedding in the closet and I have to figure out what it all is. I know I have winter duvets and a winter feather bed but there's more than just that. I suspect some will have to go. And I suspect that the winter feather bed will not be necessary here. We aren't allowed to sleep with the bedroom window open, because, apparently it will freeze the radiator pipes, so our dream of having fresh air while sleeping is gone.

While unpacking I realized that dh had installed a shower head for himself but apparently put mine in the car so it could be returned. Since mine uses less water than his, there were lots of words, some tears, and he fetched it and installed it for me. I'm still subject to scalding and freezing but with the shower head closer to me, 1) I didn't step on the drain closer once and 2) my hair rinses faster so I'm not in the unstable water too long. There is a trickle function so when I'm soaping or shampooing, I put the shower head on that and the hot/cold water doesn't reach my body. Shower time was much quicker this morning, thankfully, although I did have to wait for an end to the scalding water since didn't want to reach through the hot water to the tap. So that wasted water but it was on trickle at that point.

They are tearing up the outdoor parking lot today in order to install a new boiler in our building. At some point, I suspect we'll be without a/c and/or hot water (although they were without hot water one day two weeks ago due to the repairs so perhaps that will be the only day. All this to say, it is noisy here but not as noisy as it could be if we were lower down. And we can just hide on the opposite side of the building. The windows, although really old, do a great job cutting the noise.

I just finished my cereal so time to start in on another room. I think the living room is the closest to being finished, so I'll work on that.

Good morning all! I was up at a reasonable time as I had parent orientation for the big U today. So does dd18. I went to the orientation welcome session - very late, and then skipped the other morning sessions to go to the honors college info. session for parents - for another orientation group. We don't go to our college-specific meetings until tomorrow, but tomorrow we need to go to the art school info session, which is not happening today. Because dd18 is dual-enrolled and b/c she is our 2nd kid at this Univ., the only reason I want to attend parent orientation at all is to get info on each program, thus I skipped some sessions I'd registered for and shamelessly crashed another orientation session. No one cared. I asked, and dd18, along with some other dual-enrolled students, will be pulled out to talk with hon. college advising tomorrow afternoon. The way the programs here run, dd18 must have art and design as her primary college (art & design's rule), so I think they take the lead in her advising and enrollment - but the other college has input too, thank goodness.

Before I left, I did manage to send dd16 an email at camp.

Next: I need to finish a groc. list, go groc. shopping, work on laundry, perhaps go for a jog, see if my tutee can meet with me tomorrow instead of Friday.

:D Good Wednesday Wonders, Morning! :D

I s2s, dressed, ate, etc... Need to do QVAR, call in prescriptions, & it's a working day today. The left hip's acting up, when sitting, while writing or logging, so need to baby-step that on & off today. I'll stretch & walk, which will help, too. It's cloudy, DH & his buddy are getting firewood, the soccer matches are on, & the sunshine comes later today. :)

I'm wearing earrings I bought, with 2 other pairs, at the gift shop outside Glacier National Park in Montana. We'd gone on 2 vacations that year, 1998, when DH retired early. We got to Montana, our windshield wipers on our SUV kept stopping & we'd pull over, wipe off the windshield & go again. By the time we got to Glacier National Park, it was socked in drizzly fog, so of course, without our windshield wipers working properly, it's had been miserable. I bought 2 prs. of earrings & it seems a T-shirt, too, & we decided to head for home. We picked up our mail, on the way home, got home, starting sorting it. I opened a letter from the SUV manufacturer, which was a RECALL ON WINDSHIELD wipers b/c they said they might malfunction! DUH! We knew that! So my earrings brought up the memory of the recall & our miserable trip in drizzle & rain. But we did enjoy the trip anyway. Later we went down to Smith River, CA, on the Coast & stayed in a fancy hotel, visiting Aunt & Uncle during the daytime hours. We slowly came up the Coast, but in Cannon Beach, DH got so ill, from food poisoning or something. He spent the night in the bathroom, I felt so awful for him, asked if we should go to ER for him, but he refused. :? :(

I'd better get up & stretch, b/c sitting is hurting. I wish I didn't need to sit to work, but I just do. I suppose I could move the laptop to a higher place, like the eating bar, to stand at, but then my feet would start hurting!

HAVE A WEDNESDAY FULL OF WONDERS, EVERYONE! WAVING TO YOU ALL! :D

Hello Dear Ladies,

Sunshine here!

Been busy around here and wasn't able to post until today.

Survived another holiday weekend at work. One of the ladies at work is retiring this Friday. One of the gals got a journal book and glued a retirement card on the outside of it. Then she asked me to have people sign it with some good wishes. I usually see a lot of the people there because there is a computer at the fitting room where people can clock in and out and look for what their assignments are.

Speaking of assignment, the computer is wacky. It scheduled a lot of unloaders to come in for a truck. Trouble was there was no truck. So the unloaders were told to check off that they had unloaded a truck otherwise the computer would send messages to home office and there would be problems. I said that's all right, tonight you have an imaginary truck and real people, the next day there will be a real truck which the computer won't see and imaginary people to unload it.

Dson-18 goes for his ultra sound for heart on Monday and we meet with surgeon. Hoping this gets done soon. He keeps having episodes, some he tells me about and others I hear of later. He says he doesn't want to worry me so he doesn't tell me everything.

Work day for me. Going to exercise and shower.

Great day to all!

Sadie, hoping DSon's problems get fixed quickly.

I guess change of diet over the weekend has me feeling kinda blah. I've been doing things slowly the past couple days.

Most of the sheets washed, hung, ready to fold. Just brought in a load of towels done. I washed my washable down blanket I use during the winter for storage till cold season next year. It's hanging up.

Dee, sure thinking about what these changes could mean for you. Have you thought about whether you will spend the winter in Georgia or get your own place in Florida? I know you don't want to stay in the cold all winter.

My oj memory: how DMiL would leave the room where we all were to go to tv in bedroom to watch the trial. She was obsessed with it! We didn't have cable back then so just watched the highlights on evening news, which were quite a bit, if I remember. What a waste of a life.

Another LOL ready to hang up. I am finally getting caught up with it all.

My OJ trial memory: That January we had decided to limit tv to the kids to videos (rented or pretaped) and channels with no commercials. We also pulled the tv from our kitchen (but kept the tv in our bedroom.)

Somehow I got watching while ironing or doing bedroom housework and got so hooked, I pulled up the tv from the storage room and started watching while the kids were at school.

It got so bad, that we made the decision to cancel our cable so I wouldn't be tempted to watch it all the time! So we've been cable-free for 20 years.

Dd is here so we are finishing up our lunch and heading off on errands.

The living room is only part done. Sigh.
