My trip there was marred by a mistake in the directions which specifically said the parking garage for the Museum was under a building that was across a street from its actual location. That was corrected by an acquaintance from the regional newspaper where I used to work, who happened to be the person I asked for directions, so very fortuitous. But then inside the parking garage we realized there were two elevators at opposite corners which led in completely different directions above! We made a guess, guessed wrong, and had to be directed further, roundabout. We barely got there in time.
Then my job was to entertain myself for 2.5 hours in the Museum. It was not impossible, but I did end up twiddling my thumbs a while. I had moments of true interest, but had I actually been left to my own devices I would have been finished long before. There was live entertainment but the seating for it was uncomfortable. So I wandered the exhibits. I did very much enjoy the textiles, crafts and quilts of course, and found a mistake in the description of one quilt. (reported to confused people who definitely will do nothing about it, lol)
The permanent exhibit of fine paintings was so enjoyable. They own a Norman Rockwell, and one by a favorite contemporary artist of HRH's and mine, Cristina Toro. They own two Robert Henri paintings, now my new favorite after seeing his work tonight. Enough other famous artists that it's just too much to tell - an amazing collection for this smaller, uptown branch of the Museum.
