Thursday's Leap of Faith
Wish I could manage a leap of faith that this will all work out. I just can't but there's no reason it won't for the rest of you.
So what leap of faith will you make?

Re: Thursday's Leap of Faith
OKay was wondering of taking the leap back to a paper planner. I'm not sure I can do that but dh did take the rings out of an expensive planner/purse I had so I can put my tablet in. If life ever approaches normal here, I might try that.
Lucylee needs to have the leap of faith that 'past performance doesn't indicate future gains' (the fine print on mutual fund commercials) and believe that her life won't be one constant funeral after another. I don't know what to say. I found 4 parents in 36 months too much to take but you (and Harriet) seem to be challenged even more greatly.

Re: Thursday's Leap of Faith
I can't sleep because I can't stop crying. I can't stop crying because I just lost another round to the dang bathroom.
I just broke the toilet seat in my bathroom. I'm so discouraged and tired of fighting with the bathroom every time I step in. I have no idea why or how it broke but I can barely stand so probably sat down heavily on it. There are no bars in the bathroom but I was holding the counter. The space is small, there is no space for bars or even the special toilet seats with bars that are part of a seat (not enough space between the counter and the toilet.) But I didn't have bars in my last place, nor do I weigh any more (and I'm not over 200 yet.)
These bathrooms are proving to be too much of a challenge to me. I bang myself on something every time I go in. I have a bruise on my head from hitting the towel bar across from the toilet when I bend over to sit down. No wonder I may not be coming at the seat straight on, there isn't enough room, I have to come at an angle.
I've spent over $200 and still have no place to hang a guest towel or my hair towel (it is doubled up with my other towel.) The over the door towel racks were either wider than the door or stuck into the room more than I had space (nothing can stick out farther than the door knob.)
There's an extension cord strung up from the outlet over the lights and down into the cabinet for my electric toothbrush (very attractive.) That's in the cabinet because there is no counter space.
I've learned to keep the toilet seat down because things tend to fall out of the cabinet. I can't extend the counter further by putting anything over the toilet because it has a button on the top instead of a handle to flush. Nor can I hang anything off it because the tank is a different design so nothing can hang from it.
This isn't a problem money can solve, the space is just too small. And it is bigger than dh's bathroom. It occurs to me that I have not seen one neighbour fatter than me. This may be a sign I'm too fat to live in this apartment building.

Oh, ((Kathryn)). I wish I could be there to give you a big ol' IRL hug and maybe share some tea and chocolate with you - your bfast, I suppose. I don't know what the solution is. You and Ken are so resourceful, though. . I feel you'll figure something out eventually that will be an improvement. But maybe not while you're so down. . . ((HUGS))
I am up and s2s-ed, sipping tea, and heading out the door in 10 minutes to day 2 of orientation. Today, I'll get to hear about the school of art and design.
Rough schedule:
8 - 12:30 (including driving and parking time) orientation
12:30 - 1:30? take GG and friend to the mall? I'm not sure if I'm doing this or not.
laundry
start crockpot
sundry other items
3 - 4:30 tutor
4:45-ish pick up GG from a going away party for a fellow exchange student
potatoes in the oven
6 - leave to pick up dd16
home again around 8:15-ish
I will probably want a nap in there somewhere as I'm still dealing with jetlag and went to bed too late last night and got about 6 hours sleep, which is probably not enough for today let alone catching up on lost sleep + jetlag. OTOH, it might be better if I could barrel through to at least 9 pm without a nap. . . Better but more painful.

((((Kathryn)))) Keep talking and working your way through it. I think you are about to reach some solutions. (((Hugs)))) Change is never easy.
I'm sitting on front porch loving every moment of a Thunderstorm. Lightning all around, almost constant roll of thunder, rain drops sounding like drums beating on various items, water running off the house in sheets. I LOVE THE ENERGY FROM STORMS!!!
Yesterday I ran a dual planner systems - using digital & analog planner. Both methods have strengths that I am pulling from. Will I eventually train myself to transfer/combine the strengths into one method? Don't know. I just know I'm enjoying the benefits of both methods so I'm trying to not think too hard about the method and just enjoy the process and outcome.
Today is LO last swim lesson this week. I enrolled him in 2 weeks of lessons so we will go next week too. This week there are only 2 children in the intermediate class with 3 lifeguards/teachers. LO has two people full time in the water with him helping him learn. His confidence is soaring and he is trying to do everything they ask, however his coordination just hasn't reached the point where he can do it. The person in charge explained to me that his size (big bones/muscle) doesn't help in his efforts to float. She said people with fat float easily. There are good in everything - this extra weight I'm carrying will help me stay a float. >>>>groan<<<<

Re: Thursday's Leap of Faith
Good morning, villagers ~
(((Kathryn))) Don't even think of starting to blame yourself for problems with the apartment. Since there are issues with both bathrooms, the problems come from the person who designed the apartment's layout, who obviously either didn't know what s/he was doing or decided to sacrifice quality.
I know you don't want to contemplate moving again, but maybe it's time to think of this place as one of the temporary apartments you've lived in while traveling. You might be able to accept its limitations after awhile, or it might continue to be "someone else's" home you're borrowing while you look for your own place.
You have already done the hardest work in downsizing your belongings, and leaving the house that you had customized to your lifestyle. I have been marveling at how quickly you've been able to pack, move, and unpack. That you have the house ready to show already is proof of how much thought and hard work you have put into the project, all while causing as little disruption as possible to Ken's job, and totally disrupting your own schedule.
Probably what's hitting you harder now is how little time you have had for your quiet meditation, writing, and sabbath rest to recuperate from so much physical labor.
Of course you love having dd right there instead of miles away, but you're also missing ds. How soon until he is home and you can hug him?

Re: Thursday's Leap of Faith
(((Kathryn))) just keep making that l&&t of things you absolutely dislike or like about this apartment -at some point you'll come to a compromise with it or not and ditto what Booksaver said. You've had a lot of change in your life in the past year or so and done a whole lot. Just think of all the life events in the past year in your life and then add in this move!
Just went and had coffee with dneighbor on my left. They just arrived yesterday from FL. So good to have them here and to 'catch up'. They originally lived not too far from here and their 3 dds are here -one in Syracuse.
My dd will leave Brunswick, GA for here later today (after dsonil has his interview so they know which way their jumping). I find myself vascillating about my own feelings -only because I know we'll have to decide just what we're going to do with the forseeable future. Everyone keeps telling me how cold it can get in GA and that's part of the reason we go to FL. Problem is my shoulder -I have many episodes of pain, but usually short lived. However when it's cold there is constant pain and I am reminded WHY we go to FL. It'll all work out -I do know that and I shouldn't even be worried about it. If every hair on my head is counted........
Need to make my "must-do" l&&t for here and get those things done before Sunday. There's not really a lot I figure HAS to be done but a few extras that I'd like to get to. Probably none of which take more than 5 or 10 minutes. Except perhaps the medicine cabinet -that IS a jumbled mess. As with Kathryn, a lot of things get just put away without organization when I first get here so they're out of sight.
2 MUSTS are that cabinet and my fridge -which will probably really only take me the 5 minutes.

Re: Thursday's Leap of Faith
I have too much to do today to consider this as a "recovery" day but I am having some downtime this morning. Yesterday I left here at 8 a.m. and arrived back home from visiting dsis at 9:15 p.m. I was there longer than usual because they had a care plan meeting - newest issue with dsis is that she's not wanting to bathe.
I told her we weren't going out for ice cream until she took a shower so they agreed to shower her then. We went out to a peach packing house and had homemade peach ice cream (kiddie cup for me, larger one for her) and went for a long drive. I stopped off at IKEA on the way home - traffic in ATL was backed up with accidents so I figured I might as well enjoy a walk through the store instead of sitting in traffic.
OMM for today:
-weigh in at WW
-sign cks at temple
-pick up meals for dmom
-visit dmom, refill meds, etc.
-meeting in nearby town at 6 p.m.
I am trying to decide whether to try to go to the county seat for dsis and dmom to file papers for dsis and get the legal description of her lot for the court petition. I could probably go from dmom's house and after that go to the other town for the 6 p.m. meeting. Lots of driving again. Otherwise would do road trip to county seat for dmom and dsis on Monday.
-breakfast
-walk ddogs
-s2s
-meds/vitamins
-figure out rest of day.....see how much time I would have at home and what else I need to do.

Re: Thursday's Leap of Faith
Morning ya'll
Dee.. It depends on which part of Ga you're going to. The closer you are towards the Smokeys the colder it gets. Otherwise winter temps hang around 42* durning Dec-Feb. However if you're in SE Ga and closer to the coast winters tend to be a bit warmer and more sunny.
Kathryn... When I had a tiny bathroom I had to hang coat/towel hooks to the back of my bathroom door. I hung my towels and hair dryer there. Also my electric toothbrush will run by its self for a while without being in the charger. How about yours?? You could them under the counter and then charge it every few days while you're taking a shower or cleaning the bathroom. I hate the way my charger looks with wires on my counter... Wish i could find a good battery operated one for that reason.
When I got divorced I went from a 4000 sq foot house to one with less than 700 sq ft. It was a great apt. and laid out well. After a year I moved to a pre-WWII 750 sq ft house. Now that was a challenge. My microwave had to go on top of my refrigerator. The washer and dryer were in the kitchen. I had zero counter space expect for a small area for my dish drainer and my bathroom was so small you could sit one the commode and wash your face in the sink directly across from it at the same time. And there was no counter space any where. I made a material skirt to go round the sink and put a roller thingie under it. Money was very limited so I put small shelves vertical over the commode tank. My closets had no doors so I hung material shower curtains. The kitchen was a nightmare to start with. Every time I turned around I was met with a problem.
However in the end when you ask me which was my favorite home that I lived in, this teeny tiny house would rank near the top. In the end I learned to love it... Particularly I think because it reflected so much of my problem solving abilities.
Being lazy drinking my coffee in bed this morning. Will start my routines in a moment. Then it's off to the gym. When I get home I have desk work to do. Need to think about dinner too.
Ya'll have a good day... Cya'll later
