Harmony, I know totally what you mean as well. Altho things are slowing down now, sometimes I feel like I'm in survival mode, just doing what has to be done.

Lucylee, I know anxiety as well - while I was temple president I was eaten up by it a lot of nights at bedtime. Some people can do the job w/o stressing out but I can't I guess. You may recall when ds was hospitalized briefly because of anxiety when he was 9th grade perhaps?

Dh is on the way home to get me so we can go to dfriends'. I found a BD card among my stamped cards and actually went upstairs and added a "Happy Birthday" on the inside!

DONE 1. set up upstairs treadmill from folded position
2. upstairs linen closet
DONE 3. email info to the attorney from yesterday afternoon
DONE 4. info for congregational dues - I had to do something else temple related so I'm crossing this off of today's list, I've done enough temple work for today
DONE 5. a.m. routine
6. straighten up laundry room
DONE 7. WW weigh in
DONE 9. meeting at temple (put up with little old lady alligators....)
DONE 10. 10 pieces of paper gone

SO tomorrow two of those will carry over along with the one that had a substitution today. I was only down .2 lbs today. WW lady said I could go in bathroom and take off my bra and reweigh if I wanted.  She said that sometimes she has to for their weigh in and she comes out with her arms folded under her chest to hold her boobs up. (Hope no one is offended, but it was too funny!)

Well, I certainly am glad that Francis the First has a sparkling clean home to swim around in. I was worried about him!

My house is beautimous! The painters left an hour or so ago and it is all done. I am so pleased. It looks so fresh and clean. I've been on line to find a new Welcome to Our Home mat and something smashing for the front door. I found the cutest red lady bug with an attached sunflower which is my theme flower in my kitchen and wherever I can find to put one. Mr. Guy isn't fond of the lady bug but I think it would look so good.

Tomorrow is Mr. Guy's knee replacement but not until 4 pm. Weird ! We ask the doctor about it and he said he would be practiced and at his best by that time.

On our way to a cruise-in.

Oh how my feet hurt.
Ran errands this morning including a long list at the grocery store.
Replaced the seat on the upstairs toilet, which involved searching all over the house for a screwdriver. (Never did find one, I have no idea where DH has put them all. I even have my own set in a pink tool kit, but it wasn't where it belongs, so he must have borrowed those, too. I hope he didn't take them all to work!)

LEGO Club at the library this afternoon.

I have to say that although LEGO Club was fun, I am starting to have some serious concerns about the lack of imagination in this group of kids. The theme for today was to build a big city. It was pretty much letting the kids build whatever they wanted, and calling it all part of the same city. I thought it would be easy, that the kids who like to make buildings could do that, and the kids who want to build big trucks and flying things could do that, etc. I figured if nothing else, they would copy things from the latest LEGO movie or cartoon, right?

One of the boys about 7 years old wanted to be shown how to build a house. An older boy built yet another pyramid, it seems to be all he builds. One boy started out trying to do a truck, but gave up; he got into the minifigures/people bin and put all of the heads together in a tower like pop beads.

These are not kids who have never seen LEGO before, they all have them at home. It seems like they don't know what to do with basic pieces. They want us to give them the expensive individual sets that are tied to movies and such, and have instruction pictures that show how to build 1 thing from each set.

Where are the girls and boys who are going to grow up to be architects, interior decorators, car mechanics, and theater set builders? :?

We won't have a meeting next Wednesday because of the 4th of July holiday. The children's librarian said too many of the kids will be traveling, we might as well all have a little break.

Long day with dd.

We didn't get out of here until after 1, then spent almost an hour at a detour to the outdoor store (but I remembered I needed tips for my walking sticks) and then a return across town, lunch at a good grocery store that has food counters with lots of choices of prepared food for sale, everything is 1.99 per 100g (about $9/lb) a concept dd has never come across before. She was amazed and had mac & cheese with butter chicken on top. I had a salad and frittata.

From there was Costco where I spent ages but finally got frames we both like. Nearly bought a second pair of 'fun' frames but with my expensive prescription, fun is just too expensive for me! And dd hated the second frames.

She then populated her price book. I picked up what I needed and we finished at 6:20. Drove her home and checked out her place (she's much farther behind in her unpacking than I am.) Phoned dh as I left and had him order pizza. The pizza beat me home by moments (the scent of it was still in the elevator lobby and our hall.)

After dinner, dh and I took a long walk. I used walking sticks which helped but was really slow moving. We had over 20 seconds to cross at the lights and I still took longer than that. I just can't rush, it hurts too much.

We are in for the night. I have a major announcement to make about the SHE boards and then I'm off to soak my feet, do physio and go to bed.

(((Harmony))) I can just imagine what you are going through, b/c sad to say, I think again -- you and my dmom are living parallel lives...
It is miserable living this way, but I am tired and can't get motivated to do anything.
That would be exactly dmom's feeling... and she says it gets harder and harder to pull yourselves up by your bootstraps when you physically feel so miserable. I wish she WOULD talk to her doctor about it more though, or go to a counselor or something...

Although it DOES seem she IS making some progress. Tomorrow I am supposed to take her to the glass place to have the windshield in her Tahoe replaced. It has had a crack across it since BEFORE they left for Houston... but you know, at that time, there definitely were more pressing concerns. Now... in the 13 months + since she returned home... hmmm...
AND, she has sold a utility trailer (don't know if money has exchanged hands and/or if the man has actually taken it home, but she has a buyer)... she has sold the boat (money hasn't actually exchanged hands there, either, but the man is now paying the rent on the storage space for the boat) ... and she has contacted the man re: the Corvette. PLUS, she is making plans w/ds to get their trucks traded ASAP after the weekend of the 4th of July. So there is big progress...
Well... at least, ANY progress seems big to me at this point.

WTG on changing the toilet seat, BookSaver! I need to do that, but I never have, and dh always puts it off saying we might not get a new one that is compatible with our old hardware. (His mother had trouble getting one to fit once, so that is his excuse.)

I understand what you are saying about the Lego club and kids' lack of imagination... When I was little, I never WANTED to follow the instructions on the Legos. I just wanted to build what I wanted to build. Surely there are still some kids out there with imaginations and creativity. Have video games and computers killed all this completely? Surely not.

Sending lots of good wishes for Mr. Guy tomorrow!!!

Twins, I do remember when your ds was having such trouble w/anxiety, b/c I felt so much sympathy and understanding for him. Is he better able to handle things now? Does he have some secret he'd like to share?

Helia -- glad things are finally slowing down and quieting down for you. Y'all were the perfect family for GG, and it sounds like you had a lot of enjoyment with her, but still... having someone else in the house for that long takes a special person/family. I don't think we could manage it.

2nd load of laundry is hanging to dry, stuff from the dryer is put away
DGS toys are put away (ds did most of it)
Potty training book was delivered
FINALLY made it to the post office and local 7-11... filled up the Tahoe... got pizza for supper (I love their pizza, and dgs did too -- he ate an entire slice himself, but I had to cut it into bite size pieces.)
Wrote check to pay bill but forgot to put it in the drop slot...

Never did put my makeup on this morning. You know the saying, if you go out like that you'll run into an old boyfriend. I know I've told y'all before -- of three I ever cared about besides dh, one is dead & one is in prison. I didn't see the other one on this trip either. And George Strait certainly wasn't buying gas at the 7-11. I should give up makeup; I don't think dh/ds even noticed when they came in.

Boy, IKWYM re: sizes, Ivy. I am at the present moment wearing a M t-shirt. HOWEVER... I tried on a medium from my closet yesterday, and ooohhh... too tight! And I bought a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt in Hollywood, M, that I cannot wear at all.
I hope you get some relief for the gastritis.

Oh my... what is Kathryn's announcement... I'm nervous again...
Tomorrow is another day.

Dgs helped me find enough yarn, for his 2 toddler brothers' diagonal afghans, to fill up a 27-gallon bin, squishing the lid down. All I need to purchase is 1 - 2 skeins of brown yarn now, to go with the other 4 colors in various shades. Christmas in July, it'll be for Nancy & me. :) :)

Norma, I'm glad you're pleased with the pain job!

Good luck to Mr. Guy on his knee surgery, too!

Cowinkie, That's terrible that teachers don't get paid for holidays, too! :o :?

The Mariners are coming on now. They've been doing good lately. :)

I'm with you, ((Harmony)) and ((Twins)), just getting done the things I have to each day - not getting ahead and certainly falling behind. I need to get out from under these other commitments; dh is not happy that I volunteered to help at the church kids' camp this week. i didn't realize that I would need to provide so much of the snacks myself. . . . Don't think I'll do this next year.

Interesting observation re: kids and imagination, bookie. Maybe related, as an engineering prof., dh has lamented what he informally sees as a decline in the quality of mechanical ability of the kids who arrive in his engineering classes and his lab. He feels kids are growing up "tinkering" in their play much less thse days than when he was young. He blames video games and other technology for that. Who knows? Actually, I don't think many of his classes even require tinkering - but some of his lab work does, nanotechnology kind of tinkering.

I'm just home from the care team meeting. Thursday dinner tomorrow night may just be S and R, so pretty low-key. Thank goodness. I've had something (meeting, or hosting something) every evening since last Wednesday night, excepting Monday - though, I did have to drive dd16 and GG around Monday night. My next quiet evening at home w/out having to go somewhere or host something? Maybe Monday night?

I have some emails I need to respond to, but I'm just going to say enough is enough and not worry about them tonight.

The text of the announcement is here.

http://www.shesorganized.net/phpbb/view ... =13&t=3796

You'll see this at the top of every forum.

The news is that we are moving.

We'll update you all as we know more, but right now, you know everything we know except the new web address, and that's just a minor change, you'll be able to remember it easily (hint, it is SHEsOrganized.Org - for organized!)

We'll know more by Friday night.

Lucylee: you shouldn't be nervous! Remember last time we moved? We all held hands and moved to the new address together. This will be the same.

Lucylee ~ This was the 2nd time I've changed the toilet seat upstairs. We've lived here over 20 years, and both times I bought very inexpensive seats from WM. The hardware came with the seat both times. I didn't even need any tools with the last one, it used big bolts and wing nuts that were tightened by hand. This time honestly the hardest part was finding a screwdriver. Maybe the seat would last longer if I spent more money for a fancier one, but it was really nice this morning to throw away the old one and have a shiny new one. And there, that's your oddball housekeeping topic for the day!

Helia ~ I think there is something in the idea of loss of manual dexterity due to the different types of play activities that young children do now. I've been reading some articles by Mike Rowe who did the show Dirty Jobs. His premise is that construction/mechanical/vo-tech jobs are still out there in desperate need of workers, but people have gotten away from doing the manual labor/tinkering/figuring out how things work.

I don't know, maybe the kids I'm working with this summer at LEGO Club are still recovering from having to make up so many snow days. They might be viewing our theme of the day as just another school assignment, and feel exhausted.
