Sidetracked Homemakers Saturday

Post by Harriet »

What a blessing to be sidetrackable!

Creative and optimistic enough to be learning something new all the time... ...(Look, a squirrel...)
Sharp and resourceful enough to figure out ways to stay on track anyway!

Stay on track -oh right! I was "off the track" this morning with a pretty late arising. (8:33) Can't take these 'late' nights. We were at campfire at DS-R's last night and it was nearly 10 by the time we came home. I'm s2s, bed made, meds done & breakfast -just sipping a cup of java right now. Then I want to look 'behind the scenes'. I have to delete some PM's so I can receive 12 new messages. :o I will delete others as I go.
Think I'll start to bed now.
 Reminds me of that often spoken quote from here: The woman says she's going to bed, BUT FIRST, BUT FIRST, BUT FIRST, ETC. The man says he's going to bed and he does.

Will try to spend much of my day on the computer moving some things.

Belated Happy Birthday to Helia.

I'm half way though Alexandra Technique Workshop. Learning how to sit stand walk move be. Its not so simple when you screw yourself up with weird expectations, ignorance in how one would with more ease and less tension. and the rest.

suddenly its almost midnight. I need teeth cleaned. I need take myself down the attic stairs again to brush my teeth ... I've been a step together person - to avoid foot pain, that then continues with a limp I've mostly had the last month. Missed my chia seeds today so that won't help either.
Get ready for bed Lynlee. Good sleep is needed tonight. Last night I didn't sleep well, and stuffed my neck as well.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

I made a lovely Shabbat dinner last night - grilled chicken w peach salsa, a tomato, mozzarella and basil salad and smashed potatoes and challah. Dh was in a snit so wasn't entirely pleasant evening but it's nice to have both kids home for Shabbat dinner.

This morning I am taking dMacs for PT, and then in the late afternoon going to a pool party/get together at someone's house. Scattered T-storms forecast, I'll take swim suit but don't know that I'll swim? Need to come up with snack to take also. (Would like to skip it altogether but I did RSVP so should go - at least for awhile?)

Moving on, need to get ready to get Macs out.

Ops Happy Belated Birthday to Helia - I remember that her family celebrates on a convenient date so hopefully I'm not too late!

It's never too late to wish one of us a happy birthday -if, like most of us, these days get celebrated on an 'as can' basis. Speaking of which, want to wish LucyLee's dgs a very happy 2nd birthday. DDIL just called me to let me know when they're celebrating our little guy's 2nd birthday (July 10th). DDIL#1 said last night that they'll be in Albany and had asked what dgs needed -nothing. So they're making a donation in his name (sure he won't know the difference) to the memorial scholarship for DS-A & DDIL#2's dZoe. We'll make one too so that the balance grows. It's only a $500 scholarship each year but I'm sure every bit helps the recipient.

I'm now down to 1 page of PM's (as opposed to 4). Saved info I wanted to keep and delete, delete, delete. Had to make room as all my new messages were on 'hold'. Plenty of room now.

BTW, Harriet & Kathryn, I found the "right" Gim bals cherries at TSC the other day and bought a bag for dh. This particular bag had different kinds of cherry candies in it by the said Gim bals so not sure it's exactly what you two have spoken about in times past. It was not where I'd been looking other times. Think dh was enjoying them however. :D

Lynlee - Sweet Dreams!

Good Morning!

I totally skipped a day!! How did that happen? Is this the beginning of dementia? Or more likely my sidetracking side is in full bloom like the flowers outside. Amazed and loving how many flowers have bloomed since it rained!

I've stopped using an alarm to wake up and it is totally throwing my mornings off. The extra sleep is nice but I miss those early quiet times allll alone. When I woke up (late) this morning I thought it was Sunday. OH NO.... I can't fit in everything I need to do before leaving this morning. I jumped out of bed....ran into the kitchen and turned oven on. Then started making pigs-in-blanket to take.....about the time I had 1/2 dozen made it FINALLY dawned on me that it is NOT Sunday. I know part of it is because we didn't do normal Friday night activity (FNG) so yesterday seemed more like a Saturday. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.....

pausing.... to repair the connection between LO toy tractor and trailer. All is well again and he can continue to haul dinosaurs to their new location.

Next up -

My dishes are done and I've done my 3-minute touch ups in the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom. Still have the bathroom and deck to do. Can't tell you, Okay & Kathryn, how neat & tidy things are staying since I just simply did that 3-minute round almost every morning! There are always other things to do but at least I'm comfortable with the way things look.

I'm trying to focus on and make a new habit of drinking my 64oz of water each day. I have 1 large mug of coffee and 1 nearly cup of light juice in the morning so figure that's my first 'down'. Bought a nice refrigerator jar that holds 50oz at the $ store the other day and am filling that at night and focusing on finishing it during the day. Figure that with my early morning's should equal the 64oz or nearly so. I think it was Harmony who mentioned that her dh had lots of 'Charlie horses' and water seemed to be a pretty fast cure. So will be sure I take it with me wherever I go and see what happens.

Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes! I felt well-feted. :) You are a wonderful caring community.

My birthday was another busy day. I was home for 1.5 hours from the time I left at 8:15 a.m. to the time I got home at 5:15 pm. But then - the fun part! Dh and I had reservations at 6 pm at a favorite Italian restaurant, and then we went to see Edge of Tomorrow. Dh had seen it before. I enjoyed it! Some plot holes but an interesting storyline, some humor - kind of dark humor. I felt it was the wrong ending, but I'm sure the majority of people liked it. LOL!

I slept in today until about 8:30. Dh and I went for a jog. I did it - I kept jogging for 30 minutes, though it wasn't pretty. I think I've gained a couple pounds, besides being out of the habit. I would like to shape up a little before our trip to Europe, leaving in 13 days. Ack!

Dh has made some eggs. I'll eat some. I'm going to track my points and try to eat good meals - but no/minimal snacks.

Small group is meeting at our house at 5. I need to make a groc. run this afternoon, besides cleaning. . .

Weather is gorgeous! Summers are very nice here.

Hello, Villagers! :D

I got up at 7 a.m., took my Prilosec generic, set my timer for 45 minutes, so s2s with a shampoo. :) Got into a turtleneck & lightweight pullover lightweight half-zip top over it, fixed my hair & earrings. I wrote Dgs a card, thanking him for his visit, etc.. & how I miss him already & he's still here. How good & helpful he's been, & sentiments describing him & his personality, too. ♥ He really liked it, when he read it. He has to drive 2.5 hours home in showers. :( Told him to email as soon as he's home safe, too! He's getting ready to take off soon, so I need to run & hug him.

I'll do towels up, do the floors, toilets, & trash, getting back to normal now.

We had a wonderful week!

Have a great Sidetracked Day. They're the Best kind! :D
