This place would look a lot more like Tara if I had a bunch more help... Gotta remember, even as super-human as she was, Ellen O'Hara didn't run the household single-handedly. I don't mean to be politically incorrect or anything... just sayin'. If anyone is offended by that, I'll delete that comment. I think y'all know I'm not promoting a return to slavery. Sheesh.

When I struggle with all the china, silver and crystal I have, I think of my grandmother's house and the maid that she had in my day. She had a maid and cook when she was in full entertaining mode.

I'm sitting in 'her' dining room now (her china, crystal and silver is in view, in her china cabinet and I'm sitting at her dining table in her chairs (hand needlepointed by family members.) With her candelabra in the center of the table. My view is better than hers was!

Dinner is done. It was just leftovers but I made up the last of the fresh beans and sauteed them in garlic butter with bacon. Tasted special, like something we'd get on the ship.

Now I have to clean up and dh has headed back to work.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, Kathryn, Ken, dd, and ALL who have helped make this move work! My page looks exactly the same. But the address line still includes .org in it. That puzzles me a little. Not sure I am in the right place.

This is basically the post I lost earlier...
Inspite of being a very lazy Saturday, I do have a few ta-da's to report:

1. I managed to transfer all pictures from dgson's birthday party last night from phone & camera to computer... and save on My Passport as well... AND upload to Wmart
* I have made myself a new rule to follow. All pictures must be taken care of in this manner within 24 hours of taking. It takes a LOT less time to do 25 pictures than it does to do 100.

2. Sheets have been washed and dried.

3. Ordered dgs a gecko beany-baby from G eico. Although I have not yet received the promised email confirmation... Dgs LOL when he sees the gecko in magazine ads so I googled this and found out that lo & behold, G eico has a STORE. Duh. Of course they do. Now I will probably be getting emails and phone calls from them for eternity.

4. S2S and ate supper w/dh.

Questions...
* So now, I should save this page to My Favorites to replace the old one? Even though the address to this one I'm on right now still has .org in it? If I try to go to the .net link, I get that "address not found" page.
* How long do y'all keep photos on your smart phones? Last night I found out I had reached my limit, space-wise, and had to delete a bunch... but I'm thinking, why should I keep 500 pictures on there anyway?

OKay -- (did you change your name?) I don't know about you, but I was EXHAUSTED after a couple hours at Chucky Cheese! WOW. It has probably been 25 years since I was there! Once a year will do me quite nicely, LOL. It was sooo LOUD in there... and sooo CROWDED... * whew * Really -- it could have been MUCH more crowded. We were the ONLY people at any of the large tables. But oh my goodness... kids everywhere! DGS had a great time though, even though most of the games were waaay too advanced for him. He enjoyed the rides, and he LOVED having us chase him around. He ate 2 pieces of pizza and 3 pieces of cake!
Then he fell asleep on the 20-30 minute ride home, and when they got to our house, ddil said he walked to the steps at the back door and just fell to his knees and started crying. Bless his heart. But he rallied again to open presents and seemed to enjoy his new stuff.

DDil got to talking about all they want to do to dmil's house if/when they move in. DH got this funny look on his face and after they left I asked, "Does it bother you for them to change your mother's house around?" He said no... that wasn't it at all... but he didn't want them to go broke remodeling unnecessary things... and he said, "And I have NEVER even HEARD of anyone covering paneling w/sheetrock..." Gotta admit I agreed with him on that one. We are talking about beautiful solid oak paneling in the den/dining/kitchen area. It goes about 5 feet up and then there is sheetrock above it, and there is a cathedral ceiling in the den/dining area. Ddil thinks there is "too much wood" in the kitchen, with the oak paneling and oak cabinets. (It's not a dark stain, and not too light either, just a really pretty golden brown, IMHO). The kitchen floor is white vinyl tile, but the den/dining has hardwood floor.
If/when I get a chance to offer an opinion, I think I will suggest PAINTING the paneling, but not covering it.
DDil also seemed to have the idea that the entire house needs re-wiring. No particular reason, except that it is a 50-year-old house. Hmmm... DS said he never said that; he just thought they should have an electrician look at it, and maybe replace some outlets, etc.
* sigh *
I do hope things work out for them, b/c there is no way under the sun they can afford to build, which ddil said they would have to start doing if they don't get this house. And they are so packed into their tiny house that it is ridiculous.

Anyway... not my circus, not my monkeys, right?

LOL at someone's mention of dgs birthday -- I think it was Dove -- and saying it seemed like yesterday that I was referring to ddil as The Girl.

And now I cannot IMAGINE my life without The Girl, and certainly not without Dgs!


All right... y'all can quit ROFLOL... I know... I know... you ALL told me so.

I cant get my iphone to accept the new site...any one else having the same problem..anyone got some good ideas

Hmmm... haven't tried my iphone yet, Cowinkie... but still can't get through on desktop computer if I click on the .net link from the e-mail... but if I click on the .org link, it works.

Another thing I've noticed is that it is not keeping me logged in. When I click x and leave the page, even though I marked "log me in automatically each time I visit" -- it doesn't.

I will probably wait several days to try the phone, b/c this is still going to the .org page. This is exactly what I see in my address line:

lucylee, you are confusing me. (And I usually follow you completely. )

At the risk of sounding like Star Trek The Next Generation dialogue, We Are The Org. What I mean is, we are located at .org now - that would be the RIGHT address, as opposed to .net, which we must leave behind.

Gee, I hate to see anyone lose their post count and become a newbie again (understand for LadyMaverick). And hate that their posts might not be searchable... ... ??? Ya'll tell me such bright things. I like being able to find them again.

I keep getting logged out.

Cowinkie: No idea but I'm about to update the software so hold tight until tomorrow.

Lucylee: you are in the right place. The new Village for the SHEs (which looks suspiciously like the old one) is found at .ORG and our old .NET address will be removed from the internet within a few weeks. The .NET address is being repossessed for non-payment (we had no way of paying to renew it because we lacked certain access rights) but we will eventually buy back the address when it goes back on the open market. At that point, that address will just point to the .ORG website. The only reason for buying it back is so that long-absent SHEs whose email addresses are not current and who missed all the excitement of the move won't be able to find us unless we also have the old .NET address.

I instructed dd to make our homepage as un-googleable as possible. So we'll continue to be a difficult website to find unless you know our address. We'll be as 'unlisted' as one can easily be on the internet.

Well, hello everyone! I'm interested to see how this looks. I used the purple page on the old site and this is more like the other one with the avatars on the right and blue background. I guess I need to see where my avatar is and get that up too. User Control Panel, right? Hard for me to imagine how you guys did all this. I was surprised that I could just log in as usual without having to re-join, etc.

I forced myself to do some work today. I swept the floors, got 2 loads of laundry done, got the rest of the desk chores done except for tidying it up. All the really important stuff is done there except for some mess. I updated one of my spreadsheets too.

Had to force myself to work around, resting every half hour or so. Sure looks better in here now. I'm by no means caught up, but making progress.
