Monday Maintenance

Hi everyone. We're finally settled in for the evening. I have so wanted some quiet time to check in here. Our village looks great and it's nice to see old friends again. It will take me a while to catch up on the last few days posts.

This weekend was busy for my dfamily and me. Saturday afternoon dson took us to Belvoir to get tickets through the community center to Busch Gardens at Williamsburg, then we did some shopping there. Saturday was ddil's dmom's birthday so ds and dgs12 shopped for that and I picked up a birthday card from dh and I. Dgd16 and her dbf make her a cake.

Sunday we went to church; dgd sings with the choir. It was a very nice service. Right after church we went through McD for some take out and ate while driving to Busch Gardens. It was a nice day there, weather was good and the park wasn't too crowded. We left when the park closed at 9pm and got home just at midnight; we were all in bed and asleep by 12:20. Everyone was exhausted, this park is a lot hillier than FL, but there's more shade also.

Today we were just going to take it easy and relax since everyone was still tired. Ddil suggested that we go up to DC to have lunch with dson since she will be working the rest of the week. We ate at a small Mediterranean restaurant called Astor's and sat at the outside tables; the food was good.

I have been experimenting with the background colors in the board preferences. I like them all so far, but with some the print is easier to read than others. I tried uploading a photo for my avatar, but can't get the sizing right. I wonder if one of the mods could help get my beach sunset back, please??? I wanted to say Thank You! to all the moderators and admins for all the work they've done this past week to keep our website up and running.

I'm going to read for a little while and try to cuop.

LOL! Actually, my French used to be pretty good, and I wasn't completely joking - but we do need blessed's expertise here. I believe that is quite close to how one would pronounce a world spelled "t a r g e t" in French, with the exception that the last vowel sound "ay" would be more like a short e. Final t would not be pronounced. I think.

helia - I was being too literal. The word target like the target for an arrow would be a different word in French. But pronunciation of the store name you would have right on ... ...target.

I haven't posted in quite some time but it looks like we made the move gracefully to our new home here.

Glad to see everyone staying on top of things. I'm struggling to get back to a routine. I'd been making great progress until Friday when I came home to 2 1/2" of water covering half of the inside of my house. My living room furniture is still in the kitchen but thankfully most of the furniture survived. We had continuous flooding rains for days. Now I'm hesitant to put everything back because we also developed several leaks in the roof during the storms and waiting on the insurance adjusters to come out, get the roof and the sheetrock ceiling replaced. I'm sorta on hold you might say.

Oh, Harriet, thank you so much. Just as I saw your post I had another idea. I tried going to shes .net and couldn't get into that site, so I looked up one of the posts in A&C that I had saved and downloaded the picture to my pictures folder, then moved it from there to here.

Well, it is taking way too long to pull together my tutoring session for tomorrow. I think some teachers don't even plan anything in particular; one teacher that I share a room with is just going through a book of idioms with her students. Her plan: to talk about the next 5 or so idioms in the book. I get bored too easily to do the same thing every day. I like to change up the activities and topics. I'm trying to find July 4th materials online, but none is particularly good. So, I just made some. . .

I'm going to print out a grammar/communicative exercise and then call it quits for tonight. I will tend laundry before going to bed.

Oh, ejagno, what a thing to come home to! I hope you hear good news. I'm sure you are grateful it hasn't been worse. Elizabeth has also had roof trouble and hopes hers is over.

LadyMav, HRH wants me to ask you what your recipe for lemonade is - not kidding really. Wondering if you used bottled lemon juice or fresh lemons, etc. He says he has heard about the idea of acidic fruit juices maybe helping disintegrate stones. Some people think they do, others think it's a coincidence.

Tucked into bed now. We are in ds's bed in the basement, the only bed left in the house. It is not bad for comfort. We brought our duvets and pillows with us and just toothbrushes. We will go home in the morning and shower and dress there.

The street party was fun and the fireworks were amazing! It is a great neighborhood and it was fun to see all the little ones as it regenerates. If a potential buyer could have seen the party I am sure the house would sell instantly.

Hi, I went to use my old user name, here, but it didn't work out because they said my name was taken. Yes, by me- a long, long time ago. So I used to be Ivy, most recently, but I'm now FelineFriend with my same old kitty cat Avatar, so you can "recognize" who I am. So I'm newly registered, starting from scratch with a new low count.

I guess I'll need the Administrators to help me get back my MO entry status, too, right? I emailed Kathryn about "who" my old identities were, but forgot to ask about the MO part.
