I'm kind of thinking dd may be home by 9 or so. I saw that her co-teachers, and TSA team were through airport security about 3 1/2 hours ago. So I assume that dd had left well before that -probably the same time as the rest of them left the hotel. I'm assuming that was at least 1:30 if not before. Still will make it almost dark thirty by the time she reaches here. Poor dBailey is just lying here all day, getting up to peer out the window and has not drank or eaten all day. Finally got her out to the outdoors for a quick trip about 11 finally. Glad dd won't be gone any longer. DD is absolutely her person!

Afternoon ya'll...

Seems like there are a bunch of us watching the soccer game. Love how fast the game is played.

I started to post this morning, but didn't want to get distracted here as I had errands to run. Temps in my part of the village is 112* with more days to follow with the temps the same. See MT is about to experience what I think is her first full summer in AZ. The weather gets very old after awhile, but I know some of ya'll are wishing I could ship some ot this sunshine and drying heat your way.

Got up this morning with the sunrise and made slow-cooker chicken cacciatore so that all is needed for supper is to make the pasta. This is the fourth recipe I've made out of my allrecipes flyer and so far all have been winners. I ordered the magazine and have used many from them as well. Did all my routines and because I've really been focusing on keeping the house up, have had very few, if any, footprints to pick up in the mornings. Bed stripped and remade, sheets washed, dried and put away, two other loads done as well all before I left the house. As funny as it sounds those sucttion cup hooks that I have place under all my cabinets has really made a difference in keeping my house in order. Who knew

Running errands in this heat really isn't the problem, its getting back into your car after its been sitting out in the sun that is the pits. Because of that I always look for parking spaces under a tree. That usually means a longer walk to the store, of course thats good for my waist, but I tend to "cook" walking across the parking lot. In the end, however, it is worth the effort. By the time I get back to the car, the seatbelt buckle can become so hot it will literally give you a second degree burn on your body plus your steering wheel is almost possible to hold. The other day my car sat out in the sun for 2.5 hours. The temps were around 105*, and when I got into my car I did a hot seat dance because my leather seat was so hot. Then when I tried to pull the gear shift into reverse, the metal on it was so hot it burned my hand and I had to find something to wrap around it before I could even turn the car on. Oh the joys of living in the desert.

Having lived in Hurricane Alley for a good part of my life I really feel for those of you with flooding problems looming. I know what destruction flooding waters can cause. My home town in New Jersey is still trying to recover from Hurricane Sandy and the fact of the matter is that area will never be the same.

So good to see ol' friends back in the village and nice to see some new faces as well.....

Waving to ya'll...the half time is over so its back to the game for me. Glad I'm keeping company with good friends

Lay out on the balcony and read a book my senior friend passed along to me. I asked if her it was gruesome and she said no. We obviously have different ideas of the meaning of the word gruesome!

Still it feels good to sit and read.

I then took the time to gather up all my SHE visit photos. So that's done. Deleted a couple of threads of mine that aren't important any more. Note: if you want a thread you started deleted (and it isn't of general interest) please pm a moderator and they can do that for you. Years ago, we'd move every few years, so threads would die. That won't be the case so we have to think about pruning the boards now if we don't want everything to live on forever.

I book marked this site. I still found my self wondering around a bit trying to get to this thread after getting to this new site, it is just a bit different so even with my sub silver2 style must be the settings on it I tweaked. It is a learning curve for me and others too.

OK, Nancy, let's see if I can suggest anything that will help. I have switched my style to subsilver2 to match yours.

(Please don't be offended if this is too basic. I can only give simple instructions since my computer is not like yours and I don't know what your screen actually looks like. I've never used the View commands that you & Twins'Mom mentioned, it sounds like they work different from what I've ever done.)

* Go to the Board Index page. I always start there, and every page of every thread includes a link to "Board index."
* That will show a list of the forums, grouped by the main sections of the board -- "News" "The Cafe" "Organizational Tools and Skills." Within each forum will be the individual threads.

* Down the left side of the Board Index screen is a symbol that indicates what type of activity is happening in the forum.
On the subsilver2 screen, the symbol is a circle with a shape inside, which I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a file drawer or piece of paper or what.
If that shape inside the circle is white, it means you've read all the threads in that forum.
If the shape is yellow/orange, there is a post there that you have not read. Not necessarily the newest post in the forum, just one that you haven't read.
A few of the circles have a little yellow file folder with them, that means there's a subforum included -- for example, the "SHEs in the Kitchen" forum includes a subforum for "Recipes"

* On the right side of the screen it lists the newest post in each forum, in the form of date, name, an arrow, and a little box. If you click on the the little box on the right side of the line for "Post When You Can" it will always bring you to today's thread. The same for "Cardfile Central" if you click on the little box on the right, it will jump you to the last post in that thread.

Each style uses a different symbol on the Board Index page to show the thread activity. When you click on the forum title and it takes you to a list of threads, the same symbols show which threads you have read.

Tara has pretty symbols like flowers, but I found that I was having to think too hard about what each symbol meant. Some day I'll take the time to figure it out.

For the Hestia Purple style, the symbol looks like a piece of paper. When there is a new post in the thread, there is a big orange check mark on the paper, and the title of the thread also turns orange. If I've opened all of the threads in the forum, the titles are all purple.

Dee, tell dd to pay attention to Bailey's water bowl when she is back home. If she refreshes, or adds a cube of ice, or just picks it up and sets it down, maybe Bailey will remember to drink today.

Dcousin who farms has been picking blackberries, some on our place. (Is he crazy? Chiggars are too scary for me.) he brought me way too many. I will have to cook.

Other paternal family phone discussion has been that my oldest girl-cousin's granddaughter's chickens got killed. They set a trap and what they caught was a possum. So discussion has been did the possum really kill the chickens or is it circumstantial evidence. Ds looked at the photo of the possum (not very impressive) and says to them, "that's not your suspect" and HRH agrees. Dear Aunt of the Daily Aprons94, however, says yes he is, too, with memories of other flocks, and she has the wisdom of experience more than the rest of us. She says 4 out of her sibling group of 6 still have family keeping chickens in 2014 - I think that's nice.

I used to click "view active topics" and it does not pull up the active topics like before for some reason. It is odd. At times it shows flashing color orange-yellow pages I think for new activity but can not find the new activity with-in the forum or thread there.

Nancy, I think all of those "View" search links went wonky in the move, and have not been fixed yet. Remember that we did both a major move of the entire database, and also at the same time a major upgrade to the program that runs the forums. It will take a little more time to sort out everything.

I'm still so very grateful that we didn't have to manually cut and paste each post to bring everything over to the new site!

Sadie, I'm noticing you seem to have to come in as Sadie1, and I'm assuming your password didn't work. I hope you read others' posts here, who clicked on "forgot my password" and got a new one (however odd) sent to them. Then when they got in using that one, they just changed their own password to suit themselves.
