TENDING TUESDAY

What are you 'tending to' today? I need to get reservations made for Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster, PA to see "Moses". Need to write out the dates that shows are available and then write out the dates we could possibly go. It's sometimes difficult to coordinate the availability of seats (some that I can reach without a lot of stairs) and a hotel room. Therein lies the catch 22.

Also need to tend to calling the number where I left shirts for DS-A about 3 weeks ago for embroidery. Haven't heard anything from this guy and we're rather wondering if he lost the contact number.

Rained & thundered, etc during the night so got up to unplug the computer. Then of course I forgot to plug it in and wondered why it kept shutting down on me.

The RV kitty corner from us pulled out either Sunday night or yesterday morning to go somewhere. I love it! I can sit here and have about a mile of unobstructed view. Wish I always had that. Oh well, I'm happy where I am. Being on the water would sometimes be nice but it's more expensive AND dh would never want to leave the 'berm' that he put so much time, effort and $$ into. It is beautiful and always garners comments.

Good Morning!

We arrived home late last night from wonderful (but short) visit with DSon & family. Trying to restart everything..... laundry, meals, cleaning, CFO, MPB.

LO is still battling UTI (or whatever it is). I called doc office yesterday and asked if there is anything we can (should) be doing. They said to it would take 48-72 hours for the antibodies kick in fully and they want LO to finish the antibodies before they do any further test. So we continue to focus on drinking lots of water.

I want to cUOP but that will have to wait until I can get somethings done. I can use it for as reward later this afternoon.

We ARE a great "reward", LadyM! Hope LO soon is all better -he's sure had more than his share in his few years. Now that I think about it, I can remember all our 5 when they were young. Seemed if I had to call the Dr's office for one, then the progression began and there was precious little time between those progressions!

Showed DSGD14 the pictures of DS-A's (her step Dad) tractor accident many years ago. She never did realize he had such a serious go round back then. It's always a good reminder for us as well -noting all the true miracles that took place in the aftermath of that roll over.

Dh was here for a few to get some new gloves (he's 'dipping' septic tanks today). He has a system worked out so it's all good for him.

Love my round robins in this RV -gets things looking spiffy and company ready in very little time. Know if I had our whole house that it would take considerably longer, but this is GOOD!

DD was going to bring dBailey over to 'hang out' with me today. She and dgs9 were supposed to go watch the 2nd episode of "Star Wars" at DS-A's theater room. But DGS was definitely not feeling well last night so they just may be 'hanging' at his camper.

Need to think about preparing something for dinner. Hmmmm....... Haven't done a whole lot of cooking lately what with potlucks, picnics, meals with dks, etc. And for the most part dh was eating a lot of bread and milk (at least it's not bread & water).

Good morning friends!

I've been up since 6:15am. For my masters degree program, I have a weekly mentor phone call. Basically it is my attendance call. Now, we have been doing this phone call early on Tuesday mornings since I started the program. So, I put it in my phone calendar as a repeating event at 6:45am. I just changed the time as needed (could be 6:45am, could be 7:45am). My last phone call actually happened while we were on the road coming home from our family vacation, so I didn't write it in my college planner. Last night, I looked at my calendar on my phone and it said the call was for 6:45am. As I am drinking my coffee and getting set up for the attendance call this morning, 6:45am rolls around and no phone call. I remember that I think the time was changed to 7:45am. No worries. I'll just work on school work while I wait for the call. 7:45am rolls around, and there is no call. It is at this point that I remember, my mentor was going to be out of the office this whole week for training and our call would not be happening this week. It was in my calendar because I forgot to delete the reoccurring appointment.

Soo….

How's the brain working now, ducky? At least you got an early start to the day. Kudos to you for working toward your MA! How close are you to finishing?

Rambling Alert: I started my MA 2 years after I finished my undergrad, and it was a lot of work. But I was present and a full time student at the time, married, yes, but no kids and no large household to manage. I did have a related job, a teaching position with the Univ. to offset my tuition and give me a little spending $$ each month. Either 2 full days of written exams or a thesis and defense were required to graduate; for full time students, I think 2.5 years was probably the average length of the program for exam takers, 3 years+ for thesis writers. It was in the dept. of linguistics. Anyhow, I just can't imagine doing that while also working and managing a household and a family. Very impressed!! I do hope you get a lot of down time this summer, ducky.

It has been drizzling/raining all morning here. bleh. Dh changed the day of his lab's get together from today to tomorrow. Smart thinking!

I finally applied to the part time ESL instructor position at the community college last night, over 2 months after it was posted. It is still posted, but I believe I was too slow on this one, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were already filled. Unfortunately, it opened up right as I was entering that insanely busy period of time.

Dh spent time working on our travels last night, figuring out Italian ferry schedules - no simple task, apparently - and renting a car for the NL part of our trip. He feels better about that.

Today, I have pretty much just tutored. I tried to find the ESL office while there - but I really don't think it exists. LOL!

So, I'm halfway through lunch. Next here: finish the a.m. routine. Work on some emails and phone calls regarding our trip and my job search. Jobwise, there's not much in my area being advertised out there, unless I'm willing to drive 1 - 1.5 hours, which I don't think I am. A long commute is fine in nice weather but not great when the weather turns cold and snowy. Not worth it for part time, which is all I'm looking for right now. I'm not that desperate.

I'm also making a pasta casserole to bring over to the family whose care team I'm on. My family will eat the same casserole for dinner tonight; I'll just split the recipe into 2 smaller pans. It makes a lot! I might go to the post office while I'm out since they live pretty close to it.

Dd16 has oboe trio practice tonight 6:30 - 7:30, kind of an awkward time.

Morning ya'll...

All morning routines are done...not much to do I might add.

Today is a fun day for me...I am meeting 5 of my best/favorite friends in just a while and we are going bowling. The youngest of our group is 54 and the oldest is 72...looking forwards to good times and lots and lots of belly laughs

Helia...It took me 18 months to get my master in education...timewise it took a bit longer because I was in a car accident and had to sit out a quarter.

I was a brand new first year teacher, had a family and ran a household. Had to take night classes during the school year while I taught and a full load during the summers. Not sure I would have tackled it that way, but since my undergraduate degree was in Education/social sciences my masters was a requirement in order for me to teach Sped.

Looking back, I'm not sure how I did it...during that time I was shuttling my son back and forth to his dads every third weekend. That meant 6 hours on the road on Friday nights and a turnaround 6 hour drive on Sunday. Strong is just doing what you need to do and not thinking about how difficult it really is.

I didn't walk the boards when I got my undergraduate degree, but I did when I got my masters...I wanted my son to understand what all the dinners of grilled cheese sandwiches, soup or scrambled eggs were all about. Though that time in my life was one of the most difficult I've been through, its also one of the ones I am most proudest of.

I slept through the night, woke up at 6:30 a.m., got ready for my day, did a word search puzzle and read on "The Notebook." Now I've been crocheting.

The way I'll tend today is with my 10 x 5 and getting it done to report by 5 p.m.
1- Dust my small office.
2- Re-make the bed. (As always.)
3- Dump trash.
4- Dust the great room.
5- Put away groceries when DH and Dgs return from lunch out, town, errands.
6- Fix pills.
7- Put out hot spots.
8- Sweep the utility room.
9- Finish writing a story by hand.
10- Write my 10 x 5 list for Wed. the 9th.

I'm about to get breakfast, Dgs is still asleep.

Ducky, That's great going on your Masters. Good luck with that.

I just started my MA!!! June 1st was my start date. It is all online, so at least I don't have to "attend" classes at specific times. I am having a hard time making myself sit down and do some of the reading though. Some of these texts are sooo dry! Another benefit is that I am given credit for my own experiences. If I already know a lot about a class subject and can do the evaluation assignment or pass the test without all the reading and busy work, I can do that. For example, I'm pretty familiar with the backwards design concepts and a lot of the behaviorist theories, so I only skim those sections.

I'm going to get off the computer and actually get something done now.

Got up really late. Ds was up 3 hours earlier so he may need an afternoon nap.

He needs shoes, a cell phone plan, and assorted other important things but first he's going to the hospital to get his schedule. We will go out to lunch after that and then on to do groceries, or perhaps out to the house to pick up stuff he needs (we left all his things there.)

I start my 7 day diet restrictions for my colonoscopy today. Already messed up and had Vitamin E and blueberries at breakfast. I'm sure it won't matter. Still need to pick up my meds for that but they don't get used until next Monday afternoon and I have most of the clear diet stuff here (need jello and some Gaterade.)

Hate to go through this again so soon but I'm on the 3 year cycle due to family history and polyps last time.
