Dh and I biked over to the island (about 2/3 mile) and checked it out because he's getting anxious to go fishing and that's the local fishing spot.

Then we biked up to the grocery store and I picked up a Canadian SIM card for my cell phone so now I have a Canadian phone number. My daughter will still actually cost me more to call but less to text with this plan. Seriously, how is it that it is cheaper for me to use my US phone on roaming in Canada to call my daughter with a BC phone number? Canadian cell phone systems are truly expensive.

We came back fast and made up a quick burger dinner because ds was heading off to climb with friends and dd. Tomorrow will have to be our painting installation day.

Making progress, little by little. It's very, VERY busy here at work, so I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I start this, and something else comes up. I start that, and someone needs a question answered .... and so it goes! I'm still trying to sort out some paperwork from Monday/Tuesday! Then there's all of today's stuff, an ongoing project that I took over for one of the supervisor's that's getting behind again, and apparently I get to review the new contract with the vet clinic for consistency in the wording, etc. Fun times at the OK Puppy Prison I never ever get bored working here!

Oh, (((Kathryn)))... I am so sorry about your dfriend's grandchild... so tragic... I understand your dd's paranoia re: SIDS, too, b/c it is just terrifying to think about... and as y'all know, I tend to THINK about all sorts of things waaay too much, so I've had that fear, too. So glad you caught that episode w/your ds, RR!!! I don't blame you for changing doctors!

What is (was) feasible today?
Hmmm... well, after dmom woke me up before my wake-up time yesterday, to talk about taking the truck to the shop... well, I thought surely I would not be awakened early today. But no... TODAY she called to tell me she had gotten locked out of her house (b/c she went out to walk, a good thing!) and she was calling to tell me if she did not call back in an hour, I should come check on her. She was going to try to go through a window. I am just shaking my head... and I told her she better get her neighbor to come help her because she was going to break a hip or something, and maybe she just call the locksmith and WAIT. But no... she called back in about 30 minutes and said she was in the house, all was well, neighbor did help. Good grief.
I went back to bed and slept till noon, too, Cathy!

Yesterday, ds and I did take her truck to the body shop and they should have it out by the end of next week. It's pretty expensive, and ds said he would much rather have the $2000 than for Granny to be putting it in a truck for his benefit, LOL... but Granny is determined that she will NOT give him a truck with a big dent and yellow paint streaks on the side.

After we dropped off her truck, then I had to take him to her house to get his. I looked at her kitchen table and I told her, it looked like I had never been there at all. * sigh *
I helped her write some more checks, opened a bunch of mail that just needed to go in the "to file" stack, and put the newspapers on the coffee table, (some still in the plastic wrap, dated back to July 2).
I mean it is ridiculous... it just drives me totally insane, but I think I do need to go out there once a week and try to keep her on track.
Plus, get this... she has TOLD me (several times, now) that she gave my brother a sizable check, and she is going to give me one. Almost everytime I am out there, she mentions this... but she cannot focus on any activity long enough to actually write the check.
Yesterday, she had a large check to write to M.D. Anderson, and I said, do you want me to sign it? (My name is on the bank records for this account, but not on the actual check itself, yet). She said, "No, I'll sign it... and I need to write you that check..." but by the time she found her reading glasses and got that done, she forgot all about it.
I wrote another check for $48 to myself, but had her sign it -- this was to repay me for purchasing her birthday gift for dgs -- and when she did that, she said, "Do you need my signature on anything else?"
LOL... I just said I didn't think so.
I could live without the gift check... but I do bristle a little, y'all know, when I think "baby brother" is getting treated better than me... AND I hate this constant reminder of it. Good grief.
DS said next time I have to pay myself back for a grocery run or something, I should just make the check out of the promised amount, PLUS the groceries. LOL.

UPDATE RE: DS/etc.
Go ahead... start the chorus of "I told you so's." -- And I feel I should apologize for coming in here earlier this week all in a panic and then not letting y'all know what was going on. You probably thought we were in an all-out war about it all... * sigh *
As it turned out, ds and ddil decided not to go the festival either, and ds said it had nothing to do with us -- he never mentioned to her that we might want to go at all -- they just decided not to go, b/c they already have committments tomorrow and Sunday, and decided it would be too much trouble.
And when I finally DID mention it to dh, he said, "Yeah, I knew (Friend) was going to be there? (DS) isn't going, is he?"

And... a little bit of at ddil... Do any of you, or your children, have this ear piercing thing that is a sort of bar that goes diagonally from the top of the lobe to sorta halfway to the bottom of the lobe?
Well... ddil does now. It's a little "out there" to say the least, for dh's taste. (We've seen a picture). DS is not wild about it, either, but he said it wasn't permanent, she could always take it out if she wanted to, and her hair will cover it up when she wants it covered. My goodness. That was what she wanted for her birthday. (Her birthday is Monday.) Have to keep remembering she is only 22. * sigh *
If some of y'all DO have unusual piercings, etc... PLEASE do not take offense!!! Just keep in mind the little conservative Southern town I live in and the very conservative family I come from... and that Sunday should be ddil's first Sunday in the choir... where, as she said, everyone is thirty years older than her. * sigh * To each her own, I guess.

what is gSyncit software? Is it something to do with a Smart Phone or iPhone?

It is software that keeps Google calendar/google tasks/google contacts sync'd with Outlook calendar/Outlook tasks/Outlook contacts on PC.
My smartphone does sync with them too, but it isn't controlled by the gSyncIt software.

I sat down and fell asleep in the chair. Making spaghetti for dinner.

I somehow feel like I've cheated or something. I took LO school supply list and ordered everything from Amazon. 35 items costing $28 and delivered free to my door? OH YEAH, I will most definitely take that instead of tackling the busy school supply aisle at WM.

I've been cheated out of $35 by the phone company. It was always a gamble my phone wouldn't work on their network but it did match the frequencies. So I gambled $10. Gave the activator my phone's code. She activated it, told me to wait 30 minutes for it to happen and then applied the $25 of phone time to the phone.

You can guess the rest. My phone isn't compatible. So I'm out both the $10 for the chip and the $25 of time I bought. When I asked for my money back, the solution was to buy a new phone. No thank you, this one works fine in Denmark, UK, Spain, Italy, India, NZ, Australia and the US but not freaking Canada because that would be too simple to have a cell phone that actually works in my own country.

Hi everyone! All the babycats are out and about! In fact, one or two or three of them have spilled an extra large iced tea, so I get to do some extra mopping in the LR. I should also mop some other rooms, especially the kitchen. It has been a crazy day, but it is DONE! All that remains is the aforementioned mopping, cat care, me care, dinner, email check, thank you notes, and LOL. Ok, I guess today is not done after all.

Some good news: it has rained two evenings and looks like it may rain again tonight. In general, this is good for my desert area, but in particular, I have not had any water dripping into my sewing room.

Deeclutter: Did you say Comet? As in vehicle by Mercury? What year? I have the carcass of a 1961, originally purchased for parts for the X's 1963. In a strange saga, the parts were not needed, so I got the extra. All it needs is proper title, everything in the engine compartment, body work, and interior work. A lot lower priority than, say roofwork, but one day, when I am employed again.

I'm off to do that email check.

BIL and I cleaned enough garbage out of the basement that the truck (full size) is heaping full. It is at the point that I'm afraid things may fall out if we put more on there. As it is we will need to strap it down with a tarp before we drive to the dump.

TADA after last post....

Dishwasher unloaded/ loaded/ started by kids
Three loads of laundry switched and started
Cleaned in basement for several hours
Took a long hot shower!!

Next up is to take the kids to work and make dinner.

Bittersweet! I ♥ your "Yoga Cat" Avatar! SoooOOOOOOOooo CUTE!

I took a nap, for 1 hour, with my cat beside me on the bed, with my head/body under an afghan, while DH played his XBOX 360 game, in our bedroom, too- very quietly! I slept so hard. I was so exhausted. (It's the LOL of Dgs's and us.) I believe it's very exercise-inducing, washing, drying, folding, putting away, and running Dgs' things down a long hall into the guest/bunny room. That's my theory anyway.

The "Plan" had been that DH, Dgs, and DH's buddy would unload the dump truck of firewood here between 8 - 8:30 a.m., then Dgs showers, and DH and Dgs leave at 9 - 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, for a 2.5 - 3 hour drive up, then DH coming back alone. But guess what!?!? Dson just called, he's leaving his place about noon, to arrive at 1:30 p.m. He didn't want his Ddad driving all that way up and back. (Gas prices for our sedan are now $4.19/per gallon.) We get the in between gas, between regular and super for the sedan, but regular for our little truck. Dson is bringing Dgs-10.5, Dgs-3, AND Dgs-5. They'll have lunch here, too.

So I put away my crochet hooks mug, scissors, and totes of yarn, too, as not to "spoil" any surprises for Christmas. I'm a crochet-project-crocheter-in-progress all summer/fall/winter, to prepare for Christmas. We'll put my cat in our bedroom with water, dry food, her potty box and toys. She'll be safe, doesn't do well with toddlers and little boys. She's a Tortoise Shell cat, which makes them more assertive and they don't "understand" kids when kids pull at her, etc... This is safer for her, safer for our Dgs's.

We'll still get up at 7 a.m., so the guys can unload the firewood. But Dson arrives at 1:30 p.m., we'll feed them all lunch, but I'll eat before then, so there's more room and less chaos at the table. Also, since it'll be 92* or hotter, DH is going to open the umbrella up on the patio table we inherited from DD and her now-exh. We have Chinet plates, for them to eat their hot dogs, muffins, etc.. on, too. We have pop, chocolate milk, milk, juice, too, and for adults, there's iced tea or coffee; whatever they want. I'm THRILLED DH needs not to drive all that long round-trip.

Tomorrow, I'll put my mug of colorful pens away in the office, and I'll put away my snowman glass lantern, too. Do you ask why it's out? To "INSPIRE" me to get motivated and get the Christmas crochet done. I have a red candle in a glass-enclosed jar w/lid, too. Oh, this is funny, too. I've got a Christmas colors tablecloth on, too. Red, white, and green. DD really laughed at me on the 4th of July and said, "It's Christmas in July!" more than 2 - 3 times, too!

I decided to delete several repetitive calendar email reminders and write a task list in red/black alternating lines on a legal pad, to "guide" me on what to do over the next 2 weeks. It's like a L-O-N-G version of P & P's OMM list. I probably just should take a bright magic marker and write OMM List on the top of it, too. I'll keep it in my office, next to my laptop. Where I can SEE it and it won't get hidden in a stack of magazines and notebooks on my end table. I'm trying to keep end tables tidy and hot spots put out there, so they look pretty.

Kathryn, It's TERRIBLE you got cheated out of $35 by the phone company! Oh, my!

I wrote a 3-round 5 x 5 list for tomorrow. Now with Dson and 3 Dgs's coming, I don't know if I'll be able to get everything on my round lists done before 5 p.m. I'm just too talkative and long-winded tonight. I'm excited because Dson's coming with 3 grands and DH needs not drive up and back and how I got in a lovely nap with my loving, awfully vocal cat today. Every time we walk past her, be it DH, Dgs, or myself, she'll meow like she thinks we're going to walk on her, which we don't. So I MEOWED at her! She gave me the dirtiest look, looked puzzled, like "is there another cat in here?"

Waving hello to everybody. Have a great night, a good sleep and Happy Saturday tomorrow. On my card in the office, I put up "SATURDAY SUCCESS!" on a lilac index card with 2 very colorful green/yellow/aqua fish stickers.

Photos - I have moved the thread "Visible Photographs within Posts" up in our "Tips, hints and how-tos" forum above and made it a sticky. So ducky and others interested, that might help you, OR other photo threads (such as "Posting Pictures" about 8 down) on down that forum's topics might help. Even though none of our info is missing, a few links that directed back and forth between those threads aren't working. Should be no problem to find them, though.

Ds came home and his phone won't work with this network either. On the other hand, my tablet does. So that means I can use up the $35 on data (my original plan anyway) except instead of on the phone, it will be on my tablet. That is actually better since the tablet is larger and faster than my very old phone.

Ds and I figured out we have 3 companies we can use. Looking over prepaid options, the best I could do is pay $94 for the year and get unlimited texts and 100 minutes (for the whole year.) After that, I'd pay 40 cents a minute. And data is on top of that (but the same price as with the company I just went with.)

Long Distance is more, so to call dh's US cell will cost me 80 cents a minute. Currently, I'm roaming in a foreign country and my minutes cost me 35 cents a minute. And there's no stand-by fee either. Text messages cost more but I rarely send them. My music friend and I have sent almost 100 in the past day but they appear to only cost 10 cents each (I've been watching my balance.) So that means it is still cheaper for me to use my US plan than to get a Canadian one. Except I can't have data on the phone. I can live with it on the tablet only.

If/when I get dh's current phone, then I'll be able to have the Canadian phone number as long as I keep it active until then. That will cost me $100 for the year but I'm willing to do that and I'll get data for my tablet for that money. It is such a great number, I've already memorized it. And I still don't know dd's phone number so that gives you an idea of how bad I am learning numbers.

I'm off to bed really late. Ds is on the phone with his girlfriend now. She comes on August 15.
