So glad you have good news & have 5 years between, Kathryn. DH was at 3 and then Dr said 5 last time. But endoscopy is 2 & coming up in 2 weeks.

Hi everyone. I'm hearing faint thunder off in the distance. We had a thunder-shower this morning also.

Glad to hear that your test was good, Kathryn, and you don't have another for 5 yrs. I'm hoping for good news from Lucy's ddil's dr. appointment today also.

Dh and I were taking care of errands today. There was a stop at the water company to pay the water/sewer bill, P.O. to drop off some mail and then to drug store to pick up RX refill for dh. He had two ready, but only took one as it was $133. and the other was $180. That's what happens when he is in "The Gap". When we were in VA, ddil printed a couple of coupons for these rx, but he can't use them with his insurance and would still have to pay more than with the insurance. We're going to check another pharmacy to see what their cost would be.

Anyway, we came home, had a bowl of cabbage soup for supper, fed the dogs and have the evening to relax.

Wow, Lucy, 29 years is a long time for a plant. I have one long-lived philodendron I got at the birth of ds#2. It has survived our move to Ohio, then here to FL and lives on our front porch.

I watched the Al Y. video -- have never heard that song! I will look up the blog BookSaver posted in a little while. I enjoyed the article from yesterday that Twins' Mom posted. There are some good points to consider.

Lady M, too bad the Librarian didn't think to use washable paints or have paint aprons handy for the kids, and that LO's shirt is ruined.

I will do a quick pick-up through l.rm., d.rm and kitchen then read for a little while. Last night dh was in bed by 7:30 pm (but he had cut half the back yard in the afternoon, so he was extra tired). I was asleep by 10 pm and I have a feeling it will be another early night tonight.

Met up with ds at the market village and he and I picked up food for dinner tonight and dh picked up Chinese for himself. Ds is sleeping at the house tonight but hopefully will be here tomorrow.

I'm grounded here tomorrow as we are expecting a package.

Dh will go to a movie with dd.

The funeral for the baby will be on Thursday.

Dh is watching a movie I like so I'll watch/doze with him.

That's good news on your test results, Kathryn! I'm so happy for you! It must be a relief for you!

Went to Costco with DH, I just "HAD" to get out of here! I got a book "All Fall Down," by Jennifer Weiner, and a 2-set lounge pants pkg.; 1 color is black; 1 color's grey with black polka dots.
I rewrote my OMM list. Now I feel more re-organized and ready to "GO"!
I worked on a short story for Woman's World, am 170 words too short, had it in mind to ship it off by Aug. 1. But realized, since it's a seasonal story, they only want them 6 months earlier. So I can send it off in September instead! I'll have another one to go with it, by then, too, unless I change my mind and send it elsewhere.
I saved $5 on my hardbound book at Costco, over my usual book-site. And I didn't even need to use our credit card.
DH said when we get our credit cards paid for, if I truly still want to attend a journalism school on-line, I CAN! I just don't know what college to pick, if I want a local in-state one or out-of-state. If it's in-state, I can always go to their campuses if/when needed, or can phone them, to talk to administrators or my professors. I'll chat with DD about it. She may have some ideas, too. I know there are at least 2 good edu. schools in-state, too. It would be so much fun to finally do it. When I was a Senior in H. S., my testing scores said I'd be good at medical journalism. Dmom about croaked when I said I wanted to be a writer, because my natural father, whom she'd divorced when I was little, was a poet and writer dreamer. She insisted I'd be a loser if I wrote, just like him. But here I am, laughing all the way to the bank. AND I get to pursue my dream to boot! So much for Dmom's advice and discouragement. I have always been extremely stubborn, independent, and struck out on my own to do what inside my heart was right for me. My adult kids are stubborn and independent, too, and are self-thinkers, and trek ahead in their careers and private lives, too. I guess it's the pioneer family background in me that has me this way. My great-grandmother drove the wagon with Grandma in it, on the Oregon Trail while my great-grandfather sailed around the horn, to get to the Washington Territory. So I must get some of my independence from my great-grandmother. I don't know if she was stubborn, but stubbornness CAN be a good thing, too.

Hi FFriend, the rumbling I heard a couple of hours ago had stopped, but just as I read your question a few minutes ago I heard more. It is dark now so I can't really see where the clouds are, but the Weatherbug radar shows rain all around us, most of it north. We may get more showers later on this evening.

Good luck with you plans and dreams of going back to school; that is always worth the dream!

Right now I am settled in to watch Deadliest Catch and working a crossword puzzle.

Sunny -- I can see why my earlier post looked a little confusing. It was dmom who was supposed to see the gastro-specialist today. I haven't heard from her, and I think I'll wait until tomorrow to call. I think if it was anything worrisome, she would have called me. I never made my appt, either... and yes, ddil IS supposed to be seeing her gastro-specialist sometime in the near future, I think. Maybe someday they'll both get everything straightened out.
Dmom says her teeth are the next thing for her. She has decided on implants, I think, but * good news for me * -- the doctor she will be using in in the next town over, and she doesn't mind driving herself there. I'll only be needed when the time comes that she actually has to be sedated. All the prep appts, she can do on her own.

DH and I paid the electric bill and then ate Mexican tonight for a big change for us, and it felt like we were on vacation, LOL!
Then the nursing home, and dgs was very well-behaved. (Just have to keep those Fruit Loops handy...) I'm glad we went b/c two ladies that I have known all my life are up there, and they love to see dgs, and I need to see them. I should go more often. One is a former teacher/mentor/coworker/distant cousin. It's good to check-in with her every so often.

WTG, FF! And that is amazing about your dggm driving her own wagon on the Oregon Trail. Wow. Especially after our two trips west, I really, REALLy admire those early settlers.

Hmmm. If sleeping in is beauty sleep, I ought to look like some kind of glamour queen. (I don't).

Still sending (((HUGS))) and prayers for the family and friends of that dbaby, (((Kathryn)))... that is just so heartbreaking.

I have a corn plant that is over 30 years old, Sunny -- it was a gift when ds was born. It's kinda sad looking now, too, but it still has green on it, so I keep it. The stalk is probably 5 1/2 feet tall, but very, very skinny. All the greenery is at the top. It really looks stupid and pitiful. I put a bunch of vines in with it at the base, to sorta fill in, but it's still a long way from there to the top.

At the very least, librarian should have sent notice that today's activity was going to be messy. Good grief.

FFriend, that was an amazing story about your ancestors.

Not a really great day. I tried to work at my desk, and I did get several things done, but it was all sorta overwhelming. On top of that the phone kept ringing today. Quite a few hang-ups and lots of people trying to sell things, automated messages about internet advertising and small business loans...and DH worked most of the day at home which makes me nervous with his phone chatter. He kept wanting me to watch these videos about a product and I couldn't stand the noise or think about what decision he's trying to make about this unfamiliar stuff....

Anyway, about mid afternoon I gave up and crawled into bed. I slept soundly over 3 hours. Sometimes I'm just useless.

Made some dinner and put in a load of whites. DH had dragged the white bin into the laundry room. We looked at it and I asked him if he had any idea why our money doesn't multiply like the laundry does. It should be ready to throw in the dryer now.

Maybe tomorrow will be better. I'm hoping. We're having a nice rain now. That's great.

Kathryn, I'm glad the procedure wasn't too bad and that's great you don't have to do it again for 5 years. I'm supposed to have one done too, the drs. been urging me, and I've waited until my insurance changes as my current one wouldn't pay for it. I'm not in a hurry.

Got the 1300+ emails deleted this evening. I had left my computer on when I left this morning so they were all dutifully downloaded. Dh is scanning through the server logs to make sure they are all in order (we got so many emails over such a short time that we got warnings that something was up from the web host.)

It was certainly an interesting day. The apartment is a mess but I propose we got to bed now since it is past 11 and deal with it tomorrow.

-- Unfortunately, if we are measuring in accomplishments, I've got a LOT of stone around here, but if we're measuring in time spent w/dgs, I'm covered in diamonds. So that's a good thing.
Hoping to get the house vacuumed tomorrow in the small window of time I will have after he leaves and before dh returns from golf.

Mexican dinner has me feeling like I have gained about 10 pounds. * sheesh * Dratted chips and salsa.
