Nancy I read this here, but said in PWYC that I hoped you were feeling better - got the two places mixed up! I can imagine how the humidity confuses. I got out of car to get mail after being out today and my glasses fogged up immediately.

Good luck on getting ready for dr visit, FFriend.

Today I did the Basic Plus workout then the 30 minute new floor workout. So I was tired. 50 minutes in all. Surprised that shoulder is bugging me a little, so time for a day off.

Very pleasant news from Associated Press today.

Is the US dementia rate dropping?

I heard that news report on TV this morning, Harriet.

I have over a week to go before I see the Dr. My eating was on track today, plus I walked 30 minutes at Costco, too. My weight's 174.0 Lbs. and last time I saw him it was 178.0 Lbs. That's at HOME without clothes on though. So it was something like 181.0 at my Dr. office. I'm hoping to keep on track this evening, for the next over a week, until I see him, so I have a good number on their scales. After that, I'm not scheduled to see him until my physical in Sept. so I'll be motivated over the summer months, to be at an even lower healthier weight.

Plunging into this thread without cuop.

So, grand weight loss from the purge was 2 lbs.

The clear colonoscopy is a big health bonus. Not that it is an active accomplishment on my part but it is a good sign and I haven't had many of those lately.

It was interesting to see my right hand become more sore and slightly swollen during the week of the diet restrictions. I usually take an ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) at night and I missed the berries and other anti-oxidents from my diet.

Goals for the remainder of 2014 (probably the same goals as the remainder of 2013, and the beginning of 2014.)

1. Lose weight (the excess weight is causing far too many health issues.) I'm down two pounds (!) so need to ease back into food. When I was hungry on Monday, ds gave me a hug, it really helped and proved to me that physical 'hunger' isn't always 'real.' I shall explore more ways of getting fed emotionally, as well as eat more healthy food. Dr. Pepper is out of the house (has been for over 2 weeks now.) I allow myself drinks when I'm out but at home there will only be my seltzer, sometimes mixed with a juice if I want something more than water.

2. Recover from plantar fasciitis. This is a combination of weight loss, buying proper orthotics, better shoes, and physio.

3. Keep my knees recovering. They aren't too bad right now although I notice they are worse when my heel is better (i.e. in the morning) so continuing physio for them is the right thing to do.

4. Figure out a way to start yoga or at the very least, start a proper, daily, stretching routine. Ds has recommended private yoga classes to start. I was going to look for something for people recovering from an accident or medical issues. Not sure if such a thing is available but at this point my body isn't ready for even a beginner's class. My flexibility has decreased since the move. I spent 2 months doing the same movements over and over. It amused me that a box I labeled as 'heavy' at the beginning of the packing wasn't a big deal for me to move when we got to the apartment so I obviously got stronger in some regards but less flexible as well.

5. Increase my biking. It will be my regular form of exercise until the PF heals and I hope to start biking each morning. Getting off early on Sunday was really magical. The roads are almost empty. My grocery store opens at 7 so I can do a ride and then swing by and pick up anything I need for the day so make it a productive errand as well as exercise. And, for now, I should be using the bike for all errands (later I'll be able to walk places too.)

I have a beautiful home in a wonderful location to enjoy a more active and healthy lifestyle. Fresh, local, veggies and fruit are a 10 minute bike ride away at a 7-day a week farmer's market. Specialty shops are just as close as this is becoming a 'foodie' part of town. My local grocery store has healthy options as well as junk and lots of items that are single purchase (i.e. a single bun instead of having to buy 6 at a time) so I can 'treat' myself once without having leftovers hanging around. There is no excuse for me to not live a more healthy lifestyle now that the move is complete.

I need to lose 45lbs to get to my goal weight (really 47 because I don't believe the 2lb loss from the purge is permanent.)

With your patience, I shall start being accountable here.

Kathryn, very well said and thought out. Congrats on the renewal of your commitment to great health! The local farmers markets and the ability to bike and walk for errands is a bit plus.

This summer I've enjoyed eating more veggies and the decision to eat eggs/protein in the morning has been a plus to hold of pangs. Including Saturday, I've been at the YMCA to work out twice - a 50% increase over the prior six months  and dh has been there three times.

So, very small changes.

Very well thought out, Kathryn. Interesting idea from ds.

"leftovers hanging around" - yes, a problem here as well.

Nancy, we saw a young one with tiny bumps of velvet. Don't know what he was eating. No fruit around here.

Twins' good job on the egg/protein early. I have been giving myself permission to quickly scramble an egg rather than feeling only the time consuming production of making a veggie omelet will do. I just remember to get fruits/veggies in at other times, and that still gets that good egg protein in. Wow, great percentage gain at the gym!

Total workout today for 55 minutes, one break. Dd15 did the first 20 of it with me.
So far, 1 hour 45 mins formal exercise this week. On my way.

Ds was helping my greeneyed boy2 with PBS program at my computer and noticed my workout calendar! He commented on my consistency getting better.

8:00 a.m. appts with the sun's rays have been good for me, I think. Only one nap since I started that, and it was 20 minutes and done. I think of my dcousin, who was complaining about insomnia AND the struggle of keeping the house cool, so all blinds closed, that sort of thing. Wondering if lack of sun's rays are actually causing an insomnia problem.

I'm doing housework and laundry for exercise/activity today. But I'll get in some yoga/PIlates moves and some stretching, too. My knees are a bit achy, but my weight's coming down. Perhaps it's from the way I napped yesterday and slept last night. Or I've had my feet on the floor at the laptop too much? :?:

I ate an ice cream sandwich last night, for dessert, but it only made my weight go up .1 Lbs. I should stay away from ice cream, because of being Lactose Intolerant to dairy, except yogurt and cheddar cheese. But my tummy was burning, so thought the ice cream sandwich would soothe it, which it did. So for that, I'm glad I DID eat it. It helped a LOT. :D

Dgs-14 will be here July 20 - 26. I need to be very proactive about my eating while he's here, because he and DH will be eating different indulging foods, which aren't on my diet. :( I see the Dr. next week, still want to have that loss, not a gain, and since I saw Dr. last, I've lost 5 Lbs. That's good! :!: I won't see him until Sept., next, so this means I have a new "goal date," to motivate me, too.

My other goal is, when I'm at goal weight, I want to purchase a nice leather jacket and a nice denim jacket. My old leather jacket was a size 20, I donated it to one of DD's co-workers. She and DD's co-worker's Dsis's got some lovely fuller figure clothes from me. Nice quality. I'm so glad I was able to bless someone more directly like that, who DD knew, rather than donate to ARC. My other goal, for goal weight, is to buy a sexy nightgown, a sexy bra/panties set, and a Teddy, if they still make them. I'm in love with lingerie, having worked for intimate apparel, for the Marshal Fields partner's store. That's when I fell in love with lingerie. ♥ But haven't been able to wear pretties for 25 years. I only have 1 red/black push-up bra in a 38-C, which fits, so that's a start, right? I believe that little odd-ball "goals" we make for ourselves, make exercising, dieting, and taking care of ourselves just that much more fun. :P
