Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Almost would bet if we took a poll, LucyLee, that a good number of us would be the 'typers' and the 'spellers'. Know I'm in that category as well.Lucylee. We are so alike. DH can't type either and asks me to type his stuff
Have a newish apartment size refrigerator that seems to be only working now intermittently. H ome D epot told dh to bring it back with the receipt (and of course you have the original packing????? -right from 2 months ago and in an RV at that!) I suggested late yesterday that we try defrosting it -hopefully my 'woman's intuition' might be right and something froze up. I can hope. Because, this she who saves all her receipts can't find the receipt for that!
Going to breakfast with a couple from here at 8:30 so need to get ready for that. Hoping dh comes by soon to change. At noon we have a bridal shower for another friend. So will be a busy day.

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Thanks Dee! We are celebrating 41 years today. Such an honor and blessing.
I have been steadily doing cards. Made Cheese eggs & bacon for breakfast. It was a hit. Before cooking breakfast I baked 2 large cookie sheets of bacon in the oven and boiled 1/2 dozen eggs. The majority of the bacon is now in the freezer, ready to be pulled out for quick addition to dishes.
I worked in the garden this morning spreading mulch on one of the beds that is in an off year. It doesn't take long for weeds & grass to start growing where nothing is planted.
I've told DH of a restaurant I would like to try about an hour away. If MPB will cooperate and play nice today maybe we can have our anniversary meal there. We shall see.

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Good morning, all!
Happy anniversary, Lord & Lady M!!!
I'm up and have done my first five items, plus breakfast.
But...
I did stop at the computer before completing the next five.
We are supposed to go to a local fundraiser for high school football team today; ds and some friends are providing entertainment @ 1:30 -- but dh is feeling horrible. He did not sleep more than 30 minutes at a stretch last night. Just kept going going going to the bathroom. He said he feels like he has been retaining fluid and now it is just pouring off of him. But in addition... he's kinda constipated, and he said he feels like his heart is racing and he just feels miserable. So I don't think he's going to make it. I'll go on without him, b/c dcousins will be there.
Need to call dmom.

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
I'm listening to a co-writer's podcast from 2010 right now and have another one, from him, to listen to, next, too. I signed up with this website, for writers/readers podcasts, etc.... It's super.
The fires in E. WA State have grown to 4 fires now. I believe the news said, at last report, that over 120,000 acres have burned and over 100 homes have burned to the ground, too.
Just a quick C. I. to say good morning to you. We were up until midnight with the Mariners playing into and losing in the 16th inning.
My Podcast is over, there is another one to do. I'd best be going to listen to it, too.
Everybody, have a special Saturday!

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Happy anniversary to Lady and Lord Maverick!
I slept in until 11 a.m. after being up at six for awhile to say goodbye to guests. So the house is back to me and dh and ds again, thankfully.
I need to do clean up today from the dinner party last night. I think I was too tired to really enjoy the evening to be honest. Lots of cooking yesterday and I got in almost 10K feet just w trip to grocery and the cooking and set up. Dh and guests got back here just before the first guest arrived early.
Today I will do baby steps to hopefully clean up. I think dh wanted to go to YMCA today but he is also feeling sore and achy so I am hoping for a quiet day. House is in decent shape except for dinner party clean up, hand washing, etc.
Here's hoping that FF's fires are getting under control today and dgs-14 has a nice visit.
It feels odd that Lucylee was probably up before I was this morning, and posted before me.
LM, great idea to prep bacon and freeze. I need to do that, as we use bacon pretty slowly and sometimes it gets to expiration date if I'm not careful. (We use turkey bacon, BTW)
Busy day going, Dee. I hope you get the refrigerator working correctly - what a pain to return!
Baby steps: going to get DR tablecloth and anything left in there cleared away and back to normal, and empty the dishwasher....

FF -- I answered your question about journaling last night. (I do -- but not very consistently -- and I constantly question myself as to whether to keep them or not! I'm a very nervous journalist. I always wanted to be a writer, but now I'm too nervous and self-conscious to try.)
We were watching the ballgame with you!

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Lucylee, That's GR8 you were watching the same game as we were!
I hope you can journal. Sometimes if you do a journal, around a certain theme, such as self-care or meditation or prayer journal, it helps.
Or just journal about daily routines you want to do and get done.
I put a fresh coaster under soap, that's new, and a glass, in the guest/main bathroom. I washed 4 mirrors, 4 sinks, 1 bathroom counter, the kitchen counters, need to dump trash, and that's about it.
However, DH is coming home with $80 worth of Jockey underwear, for him, from Penney's for me to wash up. He's throwing his old underwear A-W-A-Y!
They're past their prime, he's not had the time to go to buy more underwear, and since I got a good payday from writing, yesterday, he was able to get his underwear. Also, he said he got me a surprise at Penney's. I asked him, "For my top? Or my bottom?" He said, "You'll have to see. It's for your MIDDLE!" I asked, "Is it a belt?" He laughed and said no. So what in the heck can be for my MIDDLE and not be a top or bottom?????
He says I'll need to be surprised and it cost $16. I wonder if it's a robe, lounger, or nightgown, which covers up the middle or if it's a skirt, which is held on AT the middle?
He's at the 2nd grocery store now, then will be home. He got an early start, it's 11:35 a.m. here now, he went to the bank, the mall, 2 grocery stores, so he's made good time.
The sun hat from Costco, is out for delivery in the Santa Clara-Ivins area, where Dsis lives. She works today, but my Dbil is home, so he can bring the pkg. in the house. The sun hat is very long-brim in back and front, so the box is 2-feet long, about 18-inches wide and 6" deep. She said, on the phone last night, "I knew you said you were going to try to get me a sun hat, but for 2-feet LONG, it CAN'T be a hat! I wonder what you got me!" LOL! She's going to be so happy when she sees how nice it is, in material, an earth tone color, with adjustable chin strap and it'll protect her face/neck/shoulders/back from the sun, too. I have a similar hat, with a round brim, equal around and the same color with an adjustable chin strap. It's great for hot sunny days, outdoors and walking, too. I look so BIZARRE when I wear it with my wrap-around glasses, too! It's like a movie star going incognito.
Well, DH should be pulling in here soon. It'll be nice, too, because he was going to get some bananas and a temporary drug I'm on for 2 months, until Aug. 25th, causes low levels of magnesium or potassium or something, causing calf cramps, which started in this morning!
My neck's stiff from the way I slept, too.
Hoping to feeling MUCH BETTER before Dgs-14 comes tomorrow, too!
I sure hope DH has an "okay" commute, to get Dgs-14, because of road closures and people using different routes. The freeways might be mighty crowded.
Twins' Mom, It's fun to see guests come- and then GO!
Dee, Good luck on the refrigerator!

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Back from the shower. It was nice, but glad to be home. Dh had planned to go with dgs14 to his race, but DS-A called about a 1/2 hour ago to let me know the race was cancelled (rain). I didn't think it was supposed to rain. Raining just enough to put a damper (no pun intended) on anything. Made it nice for DS as it's ddil#2's birthday and they've gone to Buffalo to celebrate -actually they're camping out that way so imagine her older dks are sitting for dgs2.
Just wiped out the fridge -it's all defrosted. Dh had to finally unplug it as he couldn't find a way to shut it off to let it defrost. So now we'll see if my theory is correct and it's okay. Fingers crossed. I sure do hate to try to take it back. I can see on our charge statement when we bought it but there's no details and I cannot find the receipt. Bought it May 14th.

Re: SAVORY SATURDAY
Happy Anniversary, Lady and Lord M! Have a wonderful day to celebrate your 41 years!
Hope you find your receipt for the fridge, Dee, in case the defrosting doesn't work!
Enjoy your quiet day, Twins'.
FF I hope you like your surprise!
Lucy, have a nice visit with your dcousins at fundraiser. Hope your dh feels better.
I wasn't up quite as early this morning as yesterday. I got daily routine done and mopped and swept hard floors and carpets to finish up weekly chores. We haven't heard from dfam#1 yet so I don't think they are coming. They're usually here by now. After lunch I puttered a little, cleaning out a small cardboard chest - threw some stuff away and put the rest with like items elsewhere. There wasn't much in it. Don't know what, if anything, I'll use it for. Dh is taking a nap and I'm taking a break before thinking about supper. That's my day, so far! Kind of boring!!
Hoping Harriet is having a good day with dfamily!
