SAVORY SATURDAY

DH got home with my $16 gift, which he described goes at my middle. I thought a belt, a robe, nightgown or skirt, thinking waist. He gives me this lovely bright polka dot box, I get help opening it and my "middle" gift is a rubbery olive green sports fun watch with a face as big as a .50 cent piece OR silver dollar! I have age-related dry-form macular degeneration, plus some other eye problems and cataracts. This face is so easy to see. It's a Quartz watch, too, DH says it was $30 originally, marked down to $16. So that's good. ♥ I really like it. NOW, then I bump my watch into furniture and stuff, since it's rubbery, I'll bounce off!

I dumped trash, did the kitchen counters, all sinks and mirrors, tidied up my stuff in one corner of the kitchen, which has my cards, to do list, and calorie counter, lip balm, and antibacterial hand sanitizer, etc... DH got cookies, ice cream, pop, french fries, etc... for Dgs-14. DH was gone a long time, I worried about him, but he's home now, so it's nice. We're listening to light classical music now, getting ready for lunch. I'm washing up his new underwear. He gave me $ for my haircut and more extra $1 bills to have, so now I have $6 in ones. It'll be good for a tip, too. He bought me another spiral notebook, but I don't know what to use it for, except for writing short stories in it. Can't think up anymore journaling ideas. And here, I'm a WRITER!

I listened to my co-writer's podcast a 2nd time, with the volume way up to 90 on my laptop and I sat in the great room, not far from the office, crocheting on Dgd's Granny squares, so I got in the podcast and "absorbed" it better the second time around. It was fun. Then, on July 31, he'll be on Blog-Talk radio for an hour, being interviewed, too.

I laid down with LO for about an hour. I napped on/off. Very relaxing.

I have processed several vegetables today - cantaloupe, black-eye peas, tomatoes, 3 kinds of squash, peppers and onions. It didn't seem to make a dent in the amount of vegetables on the kitchen countertop. The garden is producing them faster than I can process/use them. A good *problem* to have!

I'm exhausted. This apartment is too large to clean at one go but too small to stop at any place. Plus, I'm still missing some of my cleaning tools so am not working with all my favourites.

First off, dh and I biked over to pick up the library books and check out the new branch of the Y that opened in a local mall. Dh went right after his 45 minute exercise bike workout and decided to have breakfast at the mall. I had already eaten so this was the second day in a row I biked and then sat through a breakfast for my biking companion. This time I had a piece of toast and the tea from dh's breakfast platter. The mall is only a 15 minute bike ride so it wasn't the workout I got yesterday so I didn't have a muffin or anything like that.

The Y still doesn't have their pool open so we'll wait to join (that's the main reason we'd be joining.) It will cost us $125 per month as a couple. Not sure it is worth it so we may opt for day passes for a while. I'd like to try an aquafit class but that would be the only reason to join. I still have to check out the JCC and the local city pool, both of which are slightly closer to us. Not sure the rules for using the JCC since I'm not Jewish. On the way home, we gave up on the recreation path because families were walking home from service along the path and they'd have to step aside for us, if they weren't talking so much that they didn't see us coming. They were quite a way from the synagogue so they walk a long distance each Sabbath.

When I got home I did stretches and then s2s. I had my lunch and kept feeding the laundry twins. I really needed to get some cleaning done (the dark hardwood floors really shows the dust and lint.) Ds decided to give me an incentive to tidy by saying I'd get one cookie for each room I did. That got rid of a pile in the living room but then I gave up because there's still too much to be disposed of carefully.

There was a pile of paintings needing attention so I dumped that job on him. We repaired the shadow box and then tested to see if I could put velcro on a painting and mount it in the box. That worked so then I handed a half dozen paintings in frames to ds and told him to make himself useful and take them out. Now I'll rotate the paintings since these are ones that I like but aren't really good enough to be up on the wall for long periods of time.

I dusted and vacuumed everything except the exercise area and our bedroom. I've mopped the bathroom floors and dh will do the kitchen after dinner. He ran out and picked up a cooked chicken and is making me dinner now. I am just too tired to cook.

The last load of laundry is fine washables so I don't have to put that up to dry until the bedroom is vacuumed. Then I'll be done for the day. Bathrooms will need cleaning but that can wait until tomorrow or Monday.

I still have to pull together the services so I think I'm anxious because that hasn't been done yet. It has been a long week so I forgive myself for putting things off to the last minute but I'm not happy about it.

CI - I rounded up the tree branches to load and we hauled them off I like the progress. Then I cleaned up the yard raking up the front yard getting the twigs and dead grass raked up. It looks better. I did not get to the back yard otr the spinning meeting or the farmer's mket. We ate at home. The winds have kicked up.

Hallmark Channel's Debbie Macomber's (author) 2nd Premier season begins tonight, for the 1st episode of a 2-parter. It's on a 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Pacific Time, on the Hallmark Channel. "Cedar Cove," is the title, based on a series of books she's written. The actress, Andy McDowell, is Olivia, the judge, and she's perfect for the roll. I have 2 - 3 Cedar Cove books and now that I've seen the series, it's really brought the characters, settings, wardrobes, scenery to life for me. I also entered a contest at the Hallmark site. Winners get to go where they film Cedar Cove, in Canada and I believe I also read they get $500 to spend on their free trip,too. I also won 10 bonus points. I enjoyed it.

DH has clean underwear that is very high quality and will fit. He saved the 3 pairs of new ones, he bought last week, which are too large, for back-up. He hid them on the bottom of the pile of underwear in his drawer. I snoozed in my chair about 1/2 hour and DH snores on and off, as he's watching the Captain Horatio Hornblower movie, too. Just wait until tomorrow! We're getting up super early, so DH can drive off at 7:30 a.m.

My Dsis hasn't phoned from UT yet, to tell me if she likes the sun hat. It's 5:40 p.m. there, right now and 4:40 p.m. here. She's the manager of a business there, so sometimes gets home later than the normal quitting time. She said she'd call because her email provider wasn't working. The fonts kept getting larger and larger in more and more windows. I believe her because Dcousin-in-law has the same email provider. She emailed me 2 nights ago and the letters were all about 1/2" high on the screen! I couldn't figure out what was "up" with that! Yes, I have dry-form macular degeneration, but I CAN STILL SEE! It was larger than life letters. So that site must be having problems. My Dsis said she's probably call me, if her emails weren't working right.

It's been so pretty here today. Spotty showers and sunshine are due tomorrow. I sold a story today, so I'm happy about that, my payday yesterday was nice, too. It makes it worthwhile. I wrote a story I'd heard on the news, changed the time to Halloween night, added a couple of male characters and a DD. I was real happy with it. I have another one, written and sent for October, but don't know if it'll be accepted. I sent 2 November stories in early, before the Aug. 1 deadline. Now my December stories are due Sept. 19, I have 5 outlined, the spiral notebooks set up to start writing 10 pages each, per story, and plan on getting them in way before the deadline, too. That way, I'm prepared ahead of time, it takes the pressure off, and if I should have an emergency arise, like computer problems or a big one earthquake, illness, or any tragedy or death of a friend, or whatever, I'll have the stories in, can take time off, to get my bearings again. I didn't like working so close to deadlines, because it contributed to the stress and gastritis. Now, I feel much more in "control" and more comfortable.

We're going to have quiche for dinner. I think I'll eat a spinach salad and leftover squash with it, too. I'm crocheting on Dgd's Granny squares, too, and have Dgs-14's bathroom all prepared for him to move his stuff in. I get new packaged toothbrushes every time I get my teeth cleaned, so I use them for the Dgs's, when they come, if they forget theirs. I use a Soni-Care Toothbrush.

Everybody have a nice Savory Saturday evening. Our news is almost on and it'll be time to hear updates on those fires.

Well drat the shutters I put for shade temp. Wind knocked them over broke 2 sm. But main branches off the apricot tree. Sad face.

I pruned back roses hanging over the property line.
Another bush to do but it is in the sun & will have to wait as it is 91* out there goid news the wind cleared smoke out!

It is nearly time to feed the hens. Then our have dinner. I need to get in to the shower.

Hi everyone! Cat adoption clinic has come and gone, it was Bolita's first. She did well and got a lot of attention. At the knit/crochet group, I made good progress on the jacket I will be entering in the state fair (entries accepted Sept 5 and 6, gotta get it done!). However, MY THUMB HURTS. I know it is from all the crochet, but dangit, I like to crochet. I have been experimenting with different grips, but the problem has not gone away. I think, after I get done with my 3 obligatory projects, I will get back into sewing for a while and let it rest. DD12 is camping with the X and company, so she is not here tonight like usual. I should use the opportunity to type up minutes for the animal org, do some cleanup (deadline first week of Aug when Dad arrives), and more crochet on the jacket. Will probably eat first.

I did not get the job I applied for Friday, my salary requirements were too high. I put down 3/4 of what I used to make. At least I found out quickly (probably an automated response).

Tomorrow will be busy: Sunday school and church, shots for 5 kittens, and All Faiths Night at the baseball stadium. Our church has a block of seats for the latter.

LOL! I hadn't thought of that! I'm a bit envious of the watch. I, too, bang my wrist frequently and my last few watches have had pretty scratched up glass on them.

I've finished the two services. Tried to print one but am too far from the printer to know if it ran or not. Still have to enter in the hymn numbers for the second service. So will postpone printing until I've done that.

I'm very sore. Dh is watching his movie so I'm sitting in the massage chair in the bedroom. I'm about to start an episode of Nashville. Got hooked on that last night.

Still have to hang up laundry to dry and then I'm done for the day. Good thing since I'm so tired.

Dsis emailed, how I got her the perfect hat for their hikes in the desert SW, in UT, near Las Vegas, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, yadda-yadda. She is so happy because it covers her chest/neck AND back/shoulders. She's so happy with it. ♥

DH is watching the Mariners. He ran the DW. I'm waiting for "Cedar Cove," to come on at 8 p.m. I printed up an OMM list and a "To Do" list from Cynthia Townley Ewer's SHE site. I'll fill out story titles and Christmas gifts to get done, on those pages, with optional deadlines.

Dinner was good. The quiche and acorn squash were divine. Sure was yummy. Now, when Dgs-14 is here, he and DH will eat "their" foods and I'll eat my Gastritis-friendly foods.

Elizabeth, Dsis was out of work, she applied and applied day in and day out. She finally landed a job as a manager of a 3-story storage unit place who also rent out U-Haul trucks. They have 3 such facilities in their state. She's doing well, but there is stress, too, especially breaking in new employees. Today's gal was a know-it-all 26-year-old. I asked Dsis if her boss would let her put the new girl on probationary basis and then fire her if she continues to not follow protocol and rules. What type of work did you do before? What's your training?

Oh, those E. WA State fires are EACH of the 4, have burnt over 115,000 - over 120,000 acres, EACH! That's what's so terrible. TV reports are so sad.

I couldn't take those grim reports of the fires in our state so have been watching Net flicks this evening.
It is 95* at 7:30 p.m. here. Had a good chat with a friend. Wind played havoc with the yard sale across the street.

I got the s2s done. Might need to take a walk so my hair will dry.

Make branches to deal with but that will wait till morning when it is cooler. H. Retreated to the cool cave basement today.
