Hi everybody!

We had our open house yesterday. It was from 1 to 4. We had a steady stream of nosy neighbours and others from the time I put the sign up, until I took it down as the last person out the door at 4 got into his car.

Fingers crossed. My brother will do the next one next weekend if we need one.

I am just now getting into the day. I was up around 10 a.m., read the paper and drank coffee, have done a little of a.m. routine and relaxed. I feel better today - so nice to have all day yesterday to rest and relax. Along the way yesterday, I did clear the DR, put away left over soft drinks and bar, clear breakfast bar and most of kitchen counters, but didn't do the stuff that needs to be washed by hand. We ordered pizza for supper last night and then went to bed early.

Today I think we will go to the Y to workout. Dh has an appt tomorrow a.m. early with a trainer so he won't do a hard workout. I should do the next work out which was generated by their software - will be back strength and abs, I think.

I need to do prep/planning for the week today also. Mostly quiet week, which is great! Dh will be out of town Wed a.m. to around noon on Friday.

CathyS, glad the open houses are going well and hoping for good offers for you!

Home from church. It went well. Nursery workers showed up so I was able to attend the service.

We picked up Chinese food on the way home so there is no cooking for me. LO is taking a quick nap then we will go work at the "Pie Guy* picnic that is being held to promote his re-election.

Hum....I need to find 2 T-post and the driver to take with me. Better do that before time evaporates.

Interesting that you mentioned Eisenhower's farm, Sunny. I was just conversing with dfriend who now lives outside Wilmington, NC and her sister lived just a couple houses away from Julie (Nixon) and David Eisenhower. Obviously it was an 'upscale' neighborhood.

Went up to the storage unit with dh. He was looking for more Christmas lights. DD went with us. Was able to give her a couple of notebooks that were up there -for school. One was a notebook full of graph paper. Found the 2 Bibles I've been looking for ever since I came home. DB and I were hoping there might be more info in our family one regarding our dgrandfather. Have found his name written with different surnames, depending on where we've looked.

Cleaned out between our seats in the car, now it's ready for dh to vacuum.

Hasn't rained more today but is a dreary day.

DD and I went on a 'rescue' mission earlier. Saw a dog go running and wondered why. DD said, "It probably has the same issue as mine". Which was the Civil War Renactment at Genesee Country Village -which is less than 3 miles as the crow flies. The cannons were booming. We kept asking along the way and were told by different people the direction she'd gone. Finally found her on the other side of the campground trying to escape into the weeds/woods. Wouldn't come to dd but she did come to a little girl who was also out with her dad looking for it. Another family put her on a tie out and were taking her back to their site until someone came by to claim her. They happened to pass the owner on the way -also out looking for her. Dog is a real escape artist I guess. So all ended well. Know there's always dogs that get loose and run off when there are fireworks here on the Fourth. This year was the same but all were found. Two managed to break out of a 5th wheel & took off.

Home from workout at the Y. Went okay. Was one machine that I just couldn't figure out so I ended up skipping it. No one there today to ask. Did all other machines plus abs. Ds decided to go with us too which was good for him.

I didn't get to kitchen clean up and hand washing before dh decided it was time to workout. I did take my time walking dMacs - he is so slow and I want him to enjoy his walks as his mobility is getting more limited.

Going to relax a bit, then will do kitchen clean up. I think we are eating left overs tonight - salmon, squash casserole, couscous and tomatoes/mozz/basil salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

Dgs-14 is so NICE! He offers to help! He's very gentlemanly, too. Polite, is a conversationalist, and great guy.

I had an idea for a 3rd Nov. story, printed up research for it, will work on it by hand, tomorrow when Dgs-14, DH, and the buddy get wood, on Tues. when DH/Dgs go to Costco, Wed. = wood, Thurs. = a day trip for them, South to a larger-than-life portions restaurant, which is popular for those who live here, in OR, and tourists on I-5, too. I'll have plenty of time, to write by hand. He leaves early the 26th, so I can log it then, submit it the 27th/28th, before the August 1 deadline, and it'll be so nice to get it in. Had planned on working on Dec. stories by hand this week, but am so busy with dgd's Granny squares and will be with this Nov. last story.

It's dreary outdoors with grey skies, DH got into showers, on and off. DH said that Dson is thinking of moving to our AREA in Dec., when their lease is up. His boss gave the OK, when he moves, he'll move him to the more Southern office, than where they currently live. Our grade school out here, is great. The preschool's nice, too. Dson was thinking, if something happens to DH, they can help take me to appt.'s, the boys can mow, and I could continue to live in our home. They're talking about health problems or if DH should pass away, but DH says he's not "planning" on doing that for several years. Also, Ddil wants me to be able to see Dgd more, let her grow up around me/her Gma and also, says that Ddil/Dgd/ME can do things together. Have "All Girl Days." ♥ I'm VERY EXCITED about this.

I wrote tomorrow's a.m. list, set the dawn simulator, and DH MT-ied the DW. I finished 3 LOL, only 2 dark tees are in the laundry basket, and things are running smoothly here. I doubt that I'll get a nap in. Am thinking about going to bed about 10 - 11 p.m., hoping I won't wake up at 5:25 a.m. again. When Dgs's are here sleeping on the sofa and I'm up early, I worry about waking them up too early.

I guess I'll get back to the Granny squares. I should call DD, too. Called last night, but she was in a meeting, said she could call at 10 p.m., but I said it was too late and that we had to get up very early. She said she'd phone this afternoon. I have some time right now, so I can call her.

I have been doing yard work all morning. Trimmed the oregon grape bush and loaded that h. Helped put the trash cans of limbs I pruned off and Ioaded up the old tree we cut up and a few other odds and ends around

Here it is looking good. I cleaned the chickens run. I took frequient hydration breaks it is cooler out. But mugged.

Done with second service and visiting after.

One of my own parishes members is at the seniors' residence and had eye surgery this week. She wasn't in church so I visited with her after. Turns out my new minister beat me to it.

As well, one of my favourites is in hospital after a fall on Friday. I have her last name now, so need to figure out which hospital she's in. Her smile is one of my favourite things about preaching there. Her granddaughter had been attending with her each week, then one week her daughter and great-gran came and so I've had 4 generations of the family attend service. Turns out the daughter is president of an African charity (I googled her in order to find her mother since no-one can tell me which hospital due to confidentiality regulations.)

After lunch and before service we went over to the house to drop off a load of things and check on it. And after service we stopped in at the second local grocery store so I could see it. It reminds me of a NYC grocery store, compact but has everything I went for. I might shop there more if the prices aren't too outrageous just because I like the smaller footprint and the focus only on food (the other one sells everything from food, to prepared food, to clothing, to household goods, to videos, phones, TVs, etc., etc. and I hate having to walk past all that stuff in order to get milk.)

Hello, villagers ~
DH and I are having a very quiet weekend at home, and it's lovely.

I called DMom this morning to see how she's getting along. She is healing well and will be released from the hospital to go back to her apartment Tuesday afternoon. She still has some pain, of course, but the incisions on her hip have healed so quickly that she doesn't even need a band-aid on them any more. Someone is loaning her a wheelchair that she will use to get from her apartment on the 2nd floor down to the mailbox; there is an elevator so she doesn't have to worry about stairs, but the halls will be too long of a walk for awhile. She will not need the wheelchair inside her apartment, just the walker that she already owns from having her knee replaced a couple years ago.

I'm planning to drive up Tuesday to help her move back to her apartment. We know she'll need milk and bread for sure, and I can run to a grocery store when we figure out the rest of her list.

Today DH and I went to the truck stop for lunch, and then he felt like driving to the state park to see the river and lake levels. It is a beautiful day, with lots of people fishing and camping. I think all the picnic tables all over the park were in use. There were several sailboarders on the lake. We were surprised at the number of empty camp sites until we realized, oh right it's late Sunday afternoon. The campgrounds were probably full until this morning and then a lot of people packed up early for perhaps a long drive home.

We will have leftovers for supper and then watch some TV tonight. I'll do 1 or 2 loads of laundry, no sense leaving it all for tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Right now, my time can be summed up by:

I am waiting for my car to cool down. I went to church, no problem. Took 5 kittens to get shots and assess their ages (all different as they are from 3 litters), also no problem. Before leaving, I checked radiator fluid, again, no problem. Made it home and began unloading the car, at which point I noticed fluid running out from it. The temperature gauge never shifted off normal (I know it works, I 'tested' it last weekend by overheating). I am waiting for the car to cool down so I can check the coolant level. I need to take it to dinner and a baseball game.

It should be ok by now, I have spent time CUOPing. Maybe if I don't run the AC? Maybe if I win the lottery and buy a new radiator? If it is truly failing, I do need to get it fixed. How else am I going to get to job interviews? Running the heater while driving to an interview results in a smelly candidate. I do have 2 gallons of water in jugs. Bleah.

FelineFriend: In answer to your question of yesterday. My academic background is in physics. My work experience has been that + computer programming (native language = C/C++), and database scripting work. I was laid off due to lack of work on Dec 31, 2013. More bleah.
