Thursday? Really?!!!!
I seem to have lost a day this week.
I have a church deadline today and need to get my act together on paperwork because the end of the month is fast approaching which means rent is due.
I also have to prepare for a family dinner on Sunday night. A first cousin, once removed, who we've never met, is in town for a Spartan Race so we've invited him, his friend, and our kids to dinner so we can all meet. He will be racing at the same race in Alberta that ds will be at, so I'd like the boys to meet. Hopefully, ds won't pull a shift that conflicts with the dinner.
What preparations should you do today to make the weekend run smoothly?

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
Good morning, Kathryn and all who enter this wonderful village. It's good to be home -actually we came home late Tuesday. Rain and heavy thunder storms were forecast for most of our itinerary on Wednesday. Since we had no solid plans for the rest of the day on Tuesday, decided to cancel our reservations that night and head home. It was a good plan. Just never got here yesterday.
Need to finish cuop to see what's up with everyone since I left Monday morning.
Things have been absolutely crazy and depressing for dd (and dsonil) all day yesterday. The job in Umatilla, FL seemed 'his'. Then he got a phone call saying they were unable to hire him because of his 'extensive criminal record'. WHAT???? So dd went to work on the computer researching for him and of course came up with absolutely zero for his name/birth date. He'd already told this gentleman that the worst he'd ever had was a speeding ticket back in the 90's. Then the guy called back (AFTER dd had spent $$ getting the results for the research) and said mistake -it was actually HR saying they couldn't hire him because he was "fired" from his job with the city where he lives. Then he couldn't find the email from the HR department stating that it was an elimination of his position. He had been off for some time with severe back/leg problems back then. DD finally did find the email hidden in one that he had evidently forwarded to someone. But the HR guy says it's most likely too late -once HR says no, that's pretty much it. Poor dd is tearing her hair out and really torn about getting back home. We know dsonil has to be quite despondent at this point. This little wording is probably why he has not heard back from at least 2 other very promising jobs. A little prayer their way won't hurt, I'm sure.
Today is GD15's 16th birthday. Hoping this is the beginning of a much better year and life for her.
Oh my, here it is 9:20am and I have nothing but testing, breakfast and s2s done. Actually still need to even get my shoes on.
Off to get busy and think about doing a lol. Have a pile again. I usually only try to do 1 load at a time -too lazy?

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
Mornin'.
My general need today is a brain dump.
Also I need to make plans to get sleepover friend back to her family.
The important news this morning is the little flock is healthy and normal. HRH and I worked on the henhouse defense plan last night, tightening up a window, different night lighting outside. We have no idea if that was needed. But all is well this morning. Maybe this wasn't a predator. Chickens can be fragile. Don't know.
A one-on-one call to an HR supervisor seems in order, Dee. They are in a position to either explain how they got the misinformation about dsonil's job ending OR give reassurance that they simply made a mistake. At future job interviews perhaps dsonil should carry the email personally and share with interviewer. Hope dgd has a good birthday.

Yeah, I can't believe it's Thursday either. I have been lost in la la land reading the train wreck forum comments still. I have got to go cold turkey. I may try to read ongoing comments but I certainly don't need to catch up with two thousand pages of comments....(I'm up to 500 and something....oy!)

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
The HR supervisor from the city's exact wording, Harriet was this:
Poor choice of words in "terminate you" when in actuality it was the POSITION that was terminated. Hopefully he can get this straightened out with the city as it's evidently this wording that's holding him back. Jobs have been very open to him and then something would seem to happen and now we believe it's this exact wording.I am sure this period has been difficult and am impressed with your attitude and encourage you to do your best to get the best medical care. As we discussed I can’t leave the position vacant any longer..I must take steps to fill the position to address the work load that continues to pile up. Unfortunately that means we must terminate you. As requested I want to be clear that you have not quit or left based on your desire to leave but only due to your health Good luck with all your efforts to gain benefits and restore your health.

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
Good morning, villagers ~
Thanks for opening, Kathryn. I've had that reaction to every Thursday this summer.
LEGO Club yesterday: 11 kids, much better than last week when I only had 1. 11 is a nice size group for days like yesterday when I didn't have any other volunteers to help me. One more LEGO Club next week, then we are off until Sept. 17.
Errand day in The Big City this afternoon, trying to work out the best route:
* bridal shower gift
* bridal shower card, DMom's birthday card, wedding card
* pharmacy
* favorite consignment store has summer clothes on clearance, just in time for the dog days of August
* WM to pick up the groceries that Aldi has not had in stock for a couple weeks
* gas station
DNiece's bridal shower is Saturday afternoon, so I'm working toward that schedule. I think I have an acceptable outfit to wear, but must check it to be sure it is in good shape.
DH loves pasta salad. If I make a pasta salad before I leave for errands, it will be nicely chilled by the time I get back.

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
I rather have that same reaction, Kathryn:

Ever since I was in 6th grade and had a tutor for over the last half of the year. She used to always say on Wednesday (probably before it was known as "hump day") that the week was more than half over. I'd think I'd rather had not had that observation as it always made the week go by so much quicker. Now there are SOME weeks that I'm glad to have over in quick fashion.Thursday? Really?!!!!

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
Not off to a good start.
Did confirm the government did get the tax payments. So that's a plus.
There is a big procrastination (17 years old) that is about to bite me badly. That goes along with another procrastination that is 10 years old (unrelated.) I'm in a cold sweat right now.
All this is badly disrupting my current to-do item which is to get the service ready to send to the church secretary. Now the phone has just wrung again and it is my sister. Sigh.

Re: Thursday? Really?!!!!
Hello everybody. I am pleased to report that this morning I saw 7:30 on my alarm clock. I haven't seen a time that early for many weeks. I have had too many weeks of not feeling well, so this was great!
Worked on a file all morning (so far). We're trying to get a big project all straightened out and completed. I've just received the phone call I've been waiting for so I'm off in a bit to go to jobsite and organize the permit over there and look for a couple papers...then a trip to the county office.
It's looking like rain again, I hope I don't get drenched doing these chores.
Dee, I'd be cuttin' and pastin' my own email to take to job interviews if I was your dsil. Probably not the most legal thing to do, but I sure agree the email sounds worse than it should.
Kathryn, your posts recently sound so much like what I'm going through. I feel your concerns.
