Thursday? Really?!!!!

Good morning! I am with everyone else regarding the title of today's thread. Where has this week gone? Where has this summer gone? My dds go back to work on August 7 for 3 days of inservice with school starting on August 12.

Dd1 and I only have 2 more weeks of our daily walks.

Tuesday night the guy who started out as a friend of a friend, will be staying overnight with us prior to them leaving Wednesday for their Pacific NW adventure. This guy bought dh's first Harley from us. He works with our hometown friend that dh has had many bike trips with. Dh and this guy became friends after so many trips together. Our hometown friend tore his rotator cuff in April, so is not able to go. Dh wants to grill burgers and brats for supper on Tuesday night and has invited the local friend who is also going on the trip.

Dh wants the guy to sleep in the downstairs guest room because there is also a bathroom down there. I need to give that room a deep cleaning. Before I do that I need to give what I call the library a deep cleaning, too. The library is a dumping ground right now, out of sight out of mind. Dd2 gave me 2 sets of shelves from her old house. She had them in her furnace room for storage. The last time her and I went out there before the sale was final, the new owners had moved the shelves to the middle of the room. They were going to start moving things into the garage early, so dd2 decided they must not want the shelves and offered them to me. Her dh hauled them home. I don't know why he didn't just drop them off on the way but he didn't. Yesterday dd1 and brought them to my house. I have them wiped down and ready to fill. That is after I clean the library. I had intended to use the shelves to hold things from the motorhome that I don't want to leave in it during the extreme heat or cold conditions. Now I have decided that I need to keep those things stored in plastic storage containers, so that I can take them to the motorhome and unload them. So I can use these shelves to store the things piled in that room that I want to keep. I plan to sort thru things as I go.

Dh didn't want the guy to sleep in our upstairs guest room which is also Raggedy Ann's room. Our hometown friend slept in there, once at the other house. He said is was like a room with a thousand eyes. Not having daughters, I am sure it was a new experience.

Guess I better take a shower and get started on my day. I need to go buy groceries so I can get started on the library.

My longest standing procrastination (maybe): getting my wedding dress to the dry cleaner. . . LOL! It will be 24 years in 4 days. The dress is hanging in a closet just as it was when I took it off my wedding night, slightly muddy, I believe, and with rips in some of the lace along the hem.

This has been the most lazy day ever! But that is what vacations are for, right? It is now 5:00 pm and we haven't left the house. Dh has been working, catching up on emails. I applied for another p/t job this morning. I think it is kind of late, though. And it is about a 50 minute drive from our home. I need to be more diligent about checking boards and applying to positions asap.

Still, my a.m. routine is basically done. Kitchen is tidy, I'm clean and tended. I did not do laundry. I'll do a load of sheets tomorrow a.m. as dsil and dbil will be returning home tomorrow evening.

Dh's sister#3 (I think I'll start numbering then - there are 5. Dh is child #4 in the family.) came to visit us last night. We ate dinner together, and she slept in a spare bedroom and was off to work very early this morning. She works as a lawyer in Utrecht though she lives almost 1.5 hours (by car) north of here. She works here 2 days and from home 2 days, so it was convenient for her to visit us here. She is part time, though her workload means she works more than the official hours. . .She seemed so tired. Dh feels a little concerned. . . . . She has a demanding job and 4 kids - 1 working, 1 at Univ, and 1 heading to University in the fall, so just 1 will be at home this fall. Then dniece, her daughter #2, stopped by a bit later for coffee! This is the niece who is in med school in this city and will be in the States observing in a Boston/Harvard hospital in the fall as part of her training. I hadn't realized that she lived so close to the home of dsil #4, who owns this house. Interesting to talk to her. She is going to come visit us while in the States next fall! I'm really looking forward to that.

So, as soon as dh is done with his work, we will go run some errands and then go to a recommended Indonesian restaurant downtown. Bikes are still our main mode of transportation. Very much in line with Dutch culture. I took some photos of the masses of bikes parked - everywhere imaginable.

Weather has been sunny and warm, very un-Dutch like. But no one is complaining.

My adventure for the evening: I'm going to try to make American choc. chip cookies as a thank you to dsil #4 and her dh for letting us stay here. I'll also bring some dough to bake at dfil's home when we go visit him tomorrow. The adventure: I'm not sure I can buy all the ingredients. I'm not sure I can buy vanilla; I may just skip it. I'll use baking powder in place of baking soda. And I'll just cut up some chocolate bars for the chocolate chips, which one can't get here. There probably are a couple specialty stores in the country that do sell them.

We've had a lot of fun on this trip... But I dread getting the credit card bill -- 3 nights in hotel... Oh well.

I have done the first round of yard clean up. One trash can picked up of small branches in this he back yd. Next door and raked half of the front yd. Here after picking up more twigs and small branches I got those put on the trailer 2 left to do still need a bit of cutting I think.

Saw that I needed to contact the neighbors daughter about something they needed to deal with so fb message sent.

Other neighbors across the st are moving out.
Cookie dough is in the oven now. Did my hair yesterday colorist .

Good morning everyone! It is actually morning and I am really up! It's only 930 am here, at which point I am normally just waking up. However, the car had to be taken to its 'day spa' appointment at 800, so here I am. I will probably need a new radiator. I could no longer drive across town without needing to stop and add coolant. Not good if I ever get an interview across town (entirely possible - there is a major employer there). I live so close to the repair place, I decided to walk home rather than get a ride from them. (It's a free service, but I need the exercise). On the way home, I cashed in a winning lottery ticket (don't get excited, it was $1) that the car dealership gave me yesterday. When your car has its hood up in a car lot, sales people see dollar signs. Even after they realized I would not be buying, they still treated me nicely. A good idea on their part, because when the day comes that I do need a car, I will definitely go back. It will be amusing on both sides when I get the 'How did you hear about us' question.

Instead of going back to bed, when I returned, I grabbed a timer and a paper from the crisis cleaning bowl - north front yard. That took maybe 3 minutes, so the remaining time was spent in the north side yard. A whole lawn bag of weeds and a bit of trash is GONE! After that I took care of a catbox and the exploding cabinet. Taking the trash out, I noticed something really odd - the laundry room door was open and so was the dryer! The dryer had finished and things were dry, so I did not leave it open. So, which of the 9 furries in this house has learned to open those doors and the dryer? And why?

I have sent out 2 good applications this week, and am about to get started on some more. Other things to do: find all my floppy disks (found out I can copy them at the library), pay some bills, either find in my refrigerator or buy wine for tomorrow's wine party.

I am thinking of and have prayed for DeeClutter's DD and DSIL. Either for this situation to be resolved or something better instead.

My sister infuriated me, insisting I needed biking shorts and it wasn't too much to change out of whatever I'm wearing and into biking shorts each time I wanted to bike somewhere. Then she started in on biking jerseys and I lost it. I told her on no uncertain terms my bike is my form of transportation and if it requires me to change my clothes (after I buy special clothing) each time I go to run an errand I'd give up on the bike and simply take the car. Grrrrrr!

You know, cars are easier. They are almost always faster, it is easy to pick only places that have parking (even in this urban, bike-friendly, neighbourhood) and you don't have to spend 5 minutes locking and unlocking your car each time you park. Not to mention the limit on how much you can carry while on a bike (we currently need a case of water and it was on sale last time we went to the store but we can't manage that on the bikes.)

Since cars are so much easier, I already own one, and pay for the insurance, it isn't productive to put barriers such as what sort of clothing to wear, in my way of biking.

Egads, my new music keyboard arrived! I ordered it on Tuesday and it is already here! Sounds great but the last thing I need is a distraction. On the other hand, tonight we are having friends over to sing so I guess I'm glad it is here.

And if there are people coming over to sing tonight, I need to get this place tidied up because it looks like papers (and now boxes and packaging) have exploded all over the place.

Do believe that this email will become part of DSonil's resume. Harmony. This is probably the reason he hasn't been employed before this, nor heard from anyone after a very positive interview.

My wedding dress is packed away the same as it was 56 years ago Saturday, Helia. I've decided that neither of my granddaughters will ever wear it. I've read recently about the organization that takes them and makes little dresses for newborns who don't make it. Wish I'd known about it before our dgdZoe's passing. But think I should just try to find one around our area and donate it. Neither of our daughters could have worn it either. It was way too small -hmmmm, whatever happened to being THAT size?

Have dgs9 here watching a little TV. DD went over to her RV to do some things toward Christmas in July.

Think I'll read for a little now that I've had lunch. Our friend in the campground -the cook- brought us a good sized container of New England clam chowder. Yum -perfect lunch. Have "cruise night" tonight so dinner will be hamburger or hots. That's the one night I volunteer to work. It's a 2-hour stint and isn't held in rain so it's good for me!

Wanted to share: DD asked dgs9 today if he might pray for Uncle N. His instant reply was, "Of course". He dropped to his knees and said a really nice prayer for dd's dh. Made her cry. She called dsonil and it made him cry too -well me too. BTW, Elizabeth, your search for a job is always on my mind/heart too. Know you've been seeking for a long time as well so your prayer means even more to me.

I'm back and have done lots of job searching. The places I searched had no local positions or ones that were not suitable for me. I did post a resume at a company that may have local jobs in the future. I have done more than the minimum required for claiming unemployment benefits, but I don't want to do the minimum, I want a JOB! So I will continue on with the search this week. However, it is time to break for lunch (during which I will study Java, that is working well). I will probably pull one or two crisis cleaning items from the bowl.

Morning ya'll..

Just checking in...

Dee, I wore my mother's wedding dress. I have it in a special bag that keeps the air and dust out. Seems to me that a spare wedding dress is not a bad thing to have around..ya never know who might need on lol

Got back late yesterday afternoon. This morning I made sure everything was put in its proper place so I am done. Will be leaving a week from today to visit my son so all I need to do is repack. I ended up packing eight shirts...never wore two of them...never work my skort either so this next outing should be a breeze to pack. Also I packed three pairs of sandals and only wore two. My trip to my son's will requrie a different wardrobe...may be spending time on his jet ski...but I have a pretty good idea what to pack. Same goes for my trip in Sept with Sweetie.

My house is in order and my laundry is done. Now need to journey to W mart to restock the refridgerator. It's 114* here today yes you read that right...so am drinking plenty of water. No one wants to be outside including the dogs. It was in the low 80's at my mom's and we slept with the windows open and never turned on the AC. I'm over this heat....

Friend of mine's dh died while I was gone. We taught together and then I was her sub. My school contacted me asking me if I wanted to open the school year and then work for the next two months. I politely declined ...LOL Hate it for my friend but I'm done doing that kind of work...

Okay... I need to get going. The news station put chocalate chip cookie dough on a cookie sheet and placed it outside on a bench...they cooked...need I say more Waving to ya'll....Off............

Lots of rain yesterday. We had a cool morning but the temp rose quickly.

A cell phone video of an escaping shoplifter has gone viral and now national news is broadcasting it. It was at my WM and local news was at the store yesterday getting comments from people.

Work day for me!
