Cleaned out the car.

I think I've mentioned the giveaway shelf in the garage. As we exit from the building into the underground garage, there is a shelf and you can put things you don't want any more there. They are free to anyone walking by. They range from newspapers and magazines (including free ones) to really great things (I got dd a bbq cover and a grocery cart.) Today I scored a Scandinavian floor lamp. We love this style and I was thinking of picking up one from IKEA but was waiting until the house sold (there are still a couple of lamps there.

Dh had come down with me because we were heading off to the library for him to pick an audio book for the drive and he claimed the lamp for the office. I'm pleased because at this point there is no light in the office without having to navigate in the dark to his desk. Now this one is on the wall switch. And it is offering 120w of brightness so should light up the large room well.

After bringing it upstairs and determining the bulbs needed, we headed off to the library, dollar store for bulbs, picked up milk, and then went for gas. There is an art-deco full service station near us and we thought we'd try there. I expected to pay 20 cents a gallon more for gas, but they wanted 44 cents more so we kept on driving. Got steak for dinner and headed home.

The giveaway shelf had a square bowl and dh said I could have that too (I love square plates and bowls but Corelle didn't make them in the colour I wanted) so I have 1 square bowl now. Not sure what I'll use it for but it is white and looks pretty. I'll probably put things like grapes in it.

Can I say I'm a tad worried about the workload ahead? I can almost see dh having to do shoveling, etc, etc. Dcampowner does own various large equipment, but lots will need to be done with smaller 'bob-cats'. DS-A owns one that they put the beach back together with a few weeks ago -but the damage this time is way beyond a single bob-cat.

Afternoon ya'll...

Dee I saw on the news'weather this morning you were in for a lot of rain. They weren't kidding.

My day has sort of been upside down....It started when I wanted to try on an outfit I was thinking about taking on my trip and ended up with me trying on most everything in my closet. Now there is a huge pile of clothes in my closet waiting to be packed up for G Will.

Sweetie had asked me yesterday if I wanted to to see The Jersey Boys todaY. I never turn down a date with a good lookin' man so of course I said yes. He came in this morning in the middle of my "mess" and said ...lets go see Planet of the Apes instead...which I have been wanting to see and then said I had 45 minutes to get ready. I left the clothes in piles, quickly washed my hair, slapped on some make up...a girl has to stay lookin' good for her man, and was out the door on time.

I loved the movie...especially the story...and then afterwards Sweetie treated me to an In-and-out lunch, which we ended up bring home because the place was so crowded.

My house is pretty much under control, but I do need to address my piles, which have spread to several areas.

So with that being said, I am heading out to start those projects.

Harmony...not to worry, there IS NO HUMIDITY in AZ. It just feels like you're standing in front of a hair dryer on full blast................and then some

Well, my day full of high hopes kind of fizzled this afternoon. I think it is jetlag; at some point I was very tired. I tried lying down - but then I felt very awake. I was hungry so I ate a good snack - but then continued to eat too much.

I did the groceries bought and put away. That was one of the larger trips I've made recently. We really were out of just about everything.

Harriet, yeah, dd16 may very well end up staying in town. We're just somewhat concerned that our art & design school doesn't offer specific programs in specific areas of design. For example, there's no industrial design degree, no graphic design detree, etc. - just a BA or BFA. Students do concentrate in a specific area. We're not sure if that is a good set up for her. OTOH, it is one of the cheaper options since it is in state. . . We'll see. We have some years! I doubt it will happen, but it would be very fun if our girls ended up at the same school! Then, I actually might get to meet you in person. . .

Did part of the counters. The clothes are done.
Dish washer has been rebooted. Cookies for lunches are baked. Feeling productive. ToddlerN is here.

Thank you for all the anniversary congratulations and wishes! We won't get to celebrate today. Dh was home for all of an hour and 15 minutes before he had to leave again for a church meeting. We'll make an evening of it eventually.

The language school director never did call back. Not sure what that means. Dh has encouraged me to call him again tomorrow a.m. I'm tutoring first thing tomorrow a.m. so I'll call him after that.

I have just deposited dd16 at drumline practice. Now, I need to get the kitchen cleaned up. I do have about 1.5 hours to myself this evening before I need to head out again to pick up dd16. Dd18 is out with friends. I'm a little worried I'll fall asleep w/ the jetlag and sleep through time to pick up dd16. . . . I also need to prep for tutoring tomorrow.

Dinner was a success (steak, fried taters for dh, corn on the cob, spinach salad, garlic-butter sauteed fresh beans.) That's two dinners in a row that dh has really enjoyed. Now he can grab what he can for the next two nights and it will be roast chicken on Thursday when my sister is here (with more spinach salad!)

I'll probably do stir fries for the next two nights in order to eat up the cut veggies from the untouched tray I bought for last night.

I'll do the first bit of the clean up and dh will finish off. He's watching his baseball game now and will just slide the tv on the kitchen counter from the shelf in the office.

Now I'm praying my car is okay! Several of us went to Boulder Hall for potluck (lots of leftovers from parties yesterday as well as usual dishes). We all parked on backside of the rec hall. ONLY I was first and the fine gravel was all washed away from lots of bigger stones/rocks. My car found a huge hole that I did not see -about 2 feet long and over a foot deep. I thought I'd hit a boulder. Now we're hoping it didn't do any damage underneath. Dh immediately put cones on either side of it.

Now dh has gone to our fire department with tons of still leftover food. Sure they'll appreciate it.

Picked our way from the rec hall to the "beach". It is no longer. The water is about 6' from the road and the beach has only the underlying fabric that was under all the sand. Sand's out in the water. They'll have a big job getting that all excavated. Many places in the roadways are completely washed out. Our road by our place is actually pretty good. Other places had virtual rivers.

* whew * Sorry I've been AWOL all day... just busy busy...
Walked 2 miles this morning and had a 3-hour visit (on the phone ) w/dear, dear, lifetime friend who lives out-of-state now. I had messaged her yesterday about the stiuation with the family... and she asked if we could talk, so -- we did! She's kinda concerned about same sort of thing facing them in foreseeable future, parents getting older, etc... so we just talked and talked and talked. Told her later I was kinda embarrassed I kept her on the phone so long, but she said if we divided minutes by the months since we last talked, it wasn't so long, LOL!

Then s2s... Wmart... supper... and then dgs arrived! We have played... eaten supper... had a bath... played some more...

Can't truly cuop but

PS -- I forgot to tell y'all -- remember the clock that started mysteriously striking on the day dmil passed away? Well -- it QUIT striking a few days ago, and we thought, well, okay... that was that... and then just this weekend, it started AGAIN. Now I'm thinking maybe dmil is trying to tell us this division of property business is going to go okay. That's what I'm telling myself anyway, LOL.

PPS -- (No one has been here since I posted this over 3 hours ago?) Hmmm... well, we had another bit of excitement. Found out dgs can climb/fall out of baby bed. * sigh * He has two pretty good size bumps on his head and a tiny scrape that looks like it would bleed, but it hasn't bled. It must have scared him to death b/c he cried for a while, but not too long. Dr. Spock's Baby & Child Care says if he is acting normally, not throwing up, and stops crying within 15 minutes, there is likely nothing to worry about. We let him stay up another hour, let him "talk" to his da-da on the phone ('hi-iii") (Da-da wasn't worried or upset) and now he's back in the pack-n-play. Hope he STAYS there, but if he doesn't, at least he won't have as far to fall. Should have started there to begin with, but he seemed quite content in the baby bed tonight. Ha. He was just faking me out, wasn't he? * sigh *
