Twins' Mom, I weighed 125 Lbs. all through High School. When I married, I ate more, moved less, and gained a lot. When I had anorexia, I was getting 500 - 700 calories a day, worked out 3 - 4 hours a day, had malnutrition, and was weak. No kidding. I saw a psychiatrist on one-to-one sessions once a month and an eating disorders Ph. D. once a week. It was group therapy, but the group kept not showing up. The group price was $20/1 hour session, each woman, but my psychologist was giving a full hour for $20, time after time!

I got such wonderful advice and tips from her. One was.....
When SHE did her exercise bike, she set her timer for 30 minutes, she talked to herself and got out ALL her frustrations, problems, and anger during those 30 minutes. She made a "deal" with herself that after the timer went off- no more whining or complaining allowed. I thought it was a neat idea. Some people do prayer-walking or meditation-walking. I read meditation-walking is walking "in the moment." They also said if you did this, it becomes an ingrained habit and you WANT to do your walk because you're in the moment and feel so wonderful afterwards.
Today I was tired, did 2 LOL, cleaned, but didn't actively walk, do yoga, or any formal exercise. I was just active. I did great on my diet, except I fudged once. I ate 2 cookies and some spicy-salty brittle. I ended up getting sick from it, with IBS.

NOW I know NOT to eat those things- or I'm going to get sick.
I did very well this morning, in the early morning hours reading 1 chapter from Flylady and 1 chapter from Leanne Ely, on "Body Clutter," and then I wrote in my special journal about my childhood and trigger foods, etc... But then I turn around, hours later, and EAT a food I reached for all through childhood, teenage years and married Mom years, which are cookies or something crunchy.

I can't believe I did that.

But as I was doing it, I was saying "Flylady and Body Clutter!" to myself. I wasn't blindly eating, I was doing it with my eyes wide open. This evening, I had plain strained Greek yogurt.

I'm full, have no inclination to snack because of being full and not wanting to get ill again. I guess I need to do with food, what an AA member does, which is go one hour at a time, day to day, putting 1 foot in front of the other. This is where my "abstinence" comes in; abstinence from sweets, snacking and binging too much. I used to go to OA. I have a little card, which is a tool, to help and also, DD sent me a 3rd Step card to read during difficult or tempting times. I have them inside a shocking pink folder, a small 1 I made, and the cover has 3 girlfriends at a table, eating.

Since it's shocking pink, it's not hard to lose, so I'll lay it out tonight, on my journal, to keep out and refer to daily, as an aid to help me. There are some diet books, which are religious, where the author says to turn everything over to God and they have Bible Verses for you to read for encouragement. I've read a couple of them, but always forget to pray, forget to remember or read the verse, so I'm trying Body Clutter now. As I look into my past, I understand better, what made/makes me tick. I was a bit stressed this afternoon, when I indulged. DH had just returned home with Dgs. I was tired, was tired from housework and let my guard down. Now I know what to look out for.

Each journey begins with a single step.....
