A moment of quiet.

Got some prep for the open house done before church and headed off on time.

Nice service. I'm enjoying the delivery of the new minister's sermons. Content too but mainly delivery. He's much better than me.

Dropped off stuff at the house and ds never woke up although we were working across the hall from him and his bedroom door was open. Hit the grocery store on the way home.

Made up the punch, had lunch, put out food. Only 7 came so there's a ton of food leftover. I'm not disappointed, it is a gorgeous summer day. An 'uncle and aunt' from the church came and the kids were here and saw them for the first time in years. I'm so glad they were here. Ds spent some time alone with Uncle R on the balcony. This past February, he was so far 'gone' with paranoia and physical issues that Aunt M was thinking of a nursing home for him. Then his meds got fixed and he's fine now. Same exact thing happened to my music friend's father, only his wife sold the house and moved because she was told her husband was never returning home! There's a shock, come out of a medically induced dementia to discover your home and all your things gone.

The food is put away and dinner has started. Dd and ds are off shopping. Ds will come back here to eat and then nap before a night shift (which is why he was asleep at 11:30.)

Somebody close by was cooking something smelling mighty delicious but couldn't decipher where.

Just cooking bacon (turkey) and eggs for dinner -how's that for ingenuity?

Dh has an eye appointment in the morning. Guess we're stopping on the way back to look at vehicles again. Dh and I stopped on the way to the go kart track this afternoon and I showed him the J ourney and the D odge 200 I was looking at. Figured he'd think the car was too small for running back and forth to FL, but he just feels we need to 'adjust'. So we'll look at them tomorrow and inside and perhaps take them for a test run. Didn't want to do this until later, but sounding like we need to do it sooner. Today my engine light came on again and I have no idea (nor does he) what it could be. So will call our investment counselor in the morning to have her start processing moving the money. Hate to right now as the market is quite down.

On top of all that dh is talking about sending me off to FL much sooner. He's hearing more and more about it becoming colder earlier this year and wants me out of it. We'll see.

We went to church, and I was supposed to teach bil's Sunday School class -- but no one showed up... Last weekend before school starts, I guess... but we were supposed to have a "blessing of the backpacks" for teachers & students today, so there should have been more present. Turned out only two teachers were present in the early service. Maybe they all came late, for the contemporary service.

Besides my usual Sunday nap and newspaper routine, I am proud to say I got some of my Sunday chores done before naptime! S/S kitchen and took my allergy shots right after lunch. Also doing an experiment -- tied a bag of vinegar around my showerhead to soak overnight. I know my showerhead is kinda grungy, and it seems I've lost some water pressure lately, so I thought maybe that would be something that would help clean it out. I'll let y'all know tomorrow how it turns out.

The Atlanta Braves are wrecking havoc on my night life. The last two nights, dh has promised a movie "IF the game is over in time." Friday night there was a rain delay, I think, and then last night there was a LONG rain delay, plus the game went into extra innings! Good grief. Tonight they don't even start until 7:00 our time, and then tomorrow night we will have dgs. DS is going to Nashville and I think ddil has had a pretty long weekend being home alone w/dgs for the most part. She will work that early shift again this week, so I think she has asked ds to get us to keep dgs so she can rest tomorrow evening. I'm not complaining this time -- we haven't seen him since Thursday, and ds was gone most of the day Friday & Saturday, so I imagine after a 1:00 a.m. wake-up call, she will be due some rest.

I'm going to curl up on the couch and read for awhile.

Wow, Kathryn, what kind of meds did they mess up to cause medically induced dementia?

Oh, Emptynester, HRH could have told you that about a steroid shot - his blood sugar went wild after his and it took a long time to calm down. It could also cause your eyesight to temporarily change.

Church was very nice. Big crowd, everyone chat-chat-chatting and one of the college girls was super complimentary about dd's appearance, especially hair, which made her quite happy. The pianist's brief stanza of a familiar tune got everyone's attention enough to start calming the sound level down until we were close to quiet. And as the minister approached the pulpit, a little boy called out, "Let's get this thing started." Afterward, everyone stayed and stayed, chatting even more, so I think that is a very healthy sign for our church family.

I did wear my hair back in the clip and I think I looked frizzy but human. My hair is so thick that if I can't "tame" it in that scrunchie while it's wet it almost doesn't look natural on a woman of my age. I hope the same thing doesn't happen to me again, since we already know we'll be without water again soon, so the work can be done - just don't know how long.

Back here at home, both dstepson and ds were able to visit, and ds brought my green-eyed boy, who tugged his Uncle J around with him everywhere, wearing dstepson out, LOL. They played outside and I ended up having to put little socks and jeans into the dryer before I could send him home. Hated to show ds, but the little boots were no help against the wet grass at all.

HRH did the errand run to Tractor Supply, and (hurray!) shopped near there for clothes for himself, buying slacks, tees and jockey shorts. My laundry schedule thanks him.

I haven't been going so well, and have been given , asked to take, time off from things I've been going out to do.
washing is on the line
washing 2 is finishing off - to drip dry hoping I can get away without ironing it stuff
I have been slowly sneaking on 'things' home help ' needs lots of help and I find it stressful.

Want to movie last night - Japanese - subtitled - like father like son. 6yos found to have been switched at birth. Wondered if I'd heard a news story like that at some stage.

Must go check on that lol.

Took a few pictures of the 'super moon' but really it didn't look super impressive to me. Ds's comment was, "Is that what passes for a super moon these days?" He saw 2 while in Australia and apparently they were better. He's still talking about the night sky when he was camping in the desert. Around here, we can't see stars at all because of the lights of the city. Not sure if we'll see Northern Lights or not. Theoretically, we should but I worry that the city lights will fade them out.

Still enjoying the fireworks competition. Last night was Portugal and they did some really neat stuff with the fireworks on the floating barge, down low. Thankfully, I can see 3/4 of the platform so got a sense of what they were doing. The finale was impressive as well. Just one more night before we leave, Wednesday.

Dinner was lovely out on the balcony but a shade hot.

Dh cleaned up and then we watched the movie Hitchcock.

Off to bed now. I'm managed fewer than 4K steps today but that's a good thing since I was wearing sandals not heavy shoes.

Hopeful about the coming week. Dd and I have promised each other to be at work on the house by 8:00 tomorrow. It is sorely needed, after lots of activity and company, and after a general slow-down in what we could accomplish last week, with water waning.

Lynlee, so glad to see you 'round. Yes, definitely drip-dry when possible! Let time and gravity work on your side.

Phew hot and smokey here 89* still at 9 pm . The smoke has been effecting me a bit today so I did a 5 mi. Ride on the ex. Bike indoors for my ex. And some shopping. Store run done also.

Went to Joann's got a sox knitting workshop book.
Did not vet any fabric, did not find a shirt at the store either.
