ROUTINELY MONDAY

Know some of you have a new school routine (or recently so). May that all fall together for you. Know dd gets her first students today -she's been back to work for a week and now the kids.

Doesn't look like we'll be getting our new car today, but hopefully tomorrow. The money isn't showing in our bank account yet. I should have known with it not being there on Friday, it wasn't going to magically appear this morning (not over the weekend.)

Need to get over to stay with dgs9 shortly. DS-R said if I was over there by 8, would be all good. I really need to get dishes done before I leave. Just finished breakfast. Need to drive the golf cart (brrrr) as dh is taking the van early this morning.

Have an eye appointment at 4:30. Kinda dreading it. I'm always NOT GOOD with eye doctors and correct responses. Plus I'm relatively sure he's going to say it's time for cataract surgery. If that's so (and can't be put off till spring) then I hope it can get scheduled in the time remaining for me to stay in NY.

DD's hard at work, cleaning out the remainder of gd16's room and repurposing it as an office/art room for dsonil. Think that will free up a lot of their living space. Also should make it possible for us to use more of the office (which is between our room and the living area). It'll be nice to get some things out of our room and be able to put all our 'office' type stuff in there.

Went on a casino trip from our campground, yesterday. Dh had quipped to someone that if he came back with a big enough win he might buy a new car this week. The guy quipped, "Sure hope you like your old one". Right.

I'm off to get ready to get out the door. Most likely dgs will still be sleeping.

Quiet morning in the PWYC village! I am loving the quiet here at home this morning - dh gone to work and ds back at school. I keep thinking I hear ds upstairs, or reminding myself that he'll be home around 4:30. Last night, I kept thinking he was upstairs. I do miss him but OTOH I'm glad he's back at school. I got dd's phone to her yesterday afternoon. I won't go into the details, but she is not good at following instructions. Once back home, I vegged out for the evening - I drove home in the rain but did take a "scenic" route.

I was up early this morning - we had a storm come through and of course, Macs was noisy. I think I will go back to bed for a little while....still raining here.

Lynlee, wow, vets can be expensive, can't they?

lucylee, I've had several drs tell me that daily bathing ain't all it's cracked up to be, frankly. As a general rule it's fine but it can cause problems, too, especially if there is low humidity/winter weather or dry skin, etc. I agree with you about getting out of the slippers fast to give the brain the message, "we're in business here!"

Funny that Mr. DeeClutter will surprise that man.

School schedules are out and dd is disappointed and confused, but HRH says what's new, she always feels that way at first of year. I don't know. She may want to talk to the office. One thing that is more of a disappointment than she knew - foreign language all year long in a marathon year to get the whole requirement out of the way at once. This physically takes away one daily change of class, meaning less break-up to the day, and it removes another elective. The tough core classes in science, math and Am Hist are all placed into this first semester, so that she is looking at an all-work-and-no-play situation for a while. Homework and study nights will be long and late. Perhaps if it must be, it would be better in first than last semester, and maybe the high hopes of a new year's clean slate will carry her through a while.

HRH is home for the morning so he and I both took dd to her driving lesson. We went to the healthy grocery and spent over $70 on just the top level of one of those half-size carts. My.

He's going to make us fajitas with meat substitute for lunch. Actually very tasty.

Oh dear, Mr Dee is not a happy camper. Our $$ for the car were supposed to be in our bank account this morning. Not. By the time our salesman called and I then checked our investment account online -which happened to be UP from last Monday. I almost immediately knew something was off kilter. Called financial advisor's office and the gal (not our advisor) looked it up and remembered sending us a letter late Friday requesting a SIGNATURE FOR AUTHORIZATION. Dh had asked her last week if there would be something he needed to sign. Not knowing when the letter might reach us, dh was going in that direction anyway, so has headed in there to physically sign the paper (which I then hope will be electronically filed with St. Louis). Called our salesman back to tell him this latest snafu and he was gracious. We were really set on getting the car today -obviously not going to happen.

Test. Yeah computer stuff. I started up computer this morning without realizing I hadn't turned on printer ( had to shut it off the other day because fax machine came on while I was on phone with someone). My computer doesn't recognize the printer unless it's on before the computer starts up....

Lots of things in limbo around here. Office stuff. Will I ever catch up...

Welll, I CAN post from DFW airport. I am en route to Austin to fetch ds. Once there, I'll first see what needs to be done in terms of packing up his belongings and apartment cleaning. His roommates left Friday/Saturday, so he is the last to leave the apt. Ds said that everyone thought it slightly odd that he was hanging around until Monday. . . Family schedule conflicts. I decided to be present at dd16's concert at Interlochen yesterday and thus couldn't get to TX before today. He did get a return offer from the company for next summer, but this is pretty standard, apparently. He wants to get some exposure to research, though, so figuring out that will be part of his task this year. He will need to navigate offers and interests to make sure he has something going on next summer. .

Me - I'm in the midst of quite the whirlwind of travel. . Saturday, I went groc. shopping and ran other errands and did laundry, etc. to prep for my absence from the family until Thursday. Sunday, I left the house at 9 a.m. and returned at 10 pm. I had to pack and take care of a few loose ends before leaving today. This morning, I packed toiletries, some snacks, sent off a couple emails re: my trip, got a check in the mail for teenager who watched our small animals during one week of our Europe trip. The taxi called me at 6:50 a.m. I went out about 7 minutes later. . . So, yes, I am functioning on not enough sleep right now, but I'll be OK today. Tomorrow, it might hit me.

The concert yesterday was astounding. I recorded the pieces, but clearly my camera is not high-tech enough to do that. At some point the music twas SO (LOUD) it hurt my ears and just ended up as a slightly buzzy in the audio of the video I took. I shared with dh when I got home but was disappointed to see how the experience just didn't transferl Amazing pieces. Dd16 got a small solo (maybe 2 measures?) b/c she ended up as the first chair oboist! Her main competitor got sick last minute and didn't make it to band camp. Drumline was also fun. They played a piece that one of the drumline kids wrote; that is not uncommon. At a spring concert, the entire band played a symphonic piece that a student had written and another student adapted for the band as it was originally written for a full orchestra. I was also floored that a student had written that. I love seeing that talent and work embraced by the band director - and the entire band. Good stuff happning. Anyhow, I ran into and chatted with about 7 or so families I know, about half from church (and with kids attending another high school in town - we shared the camp w/ them this summer) and half I know from the school, some from uniform fittings.

((dd16)) Harriet. Yes, maybe after a good start to the year, she'll settle in and next semester will be better.

In the same vein, I'm a little distressed that dd16 only has 2 years of a language under her belt, but she has no room in her schedule to add another language this year. Nor does she have any desire. . . The poor Latin teacher is keeping her out of those classes. Our stellar Latin teacher just retired. Argh!! Ds graduated w/ 5 years of a language and dd18 with 4. 2 feels awfully minimal - but maybe is OK in the end, especially for her goals. Dd16 also wants to switch out of her AP Chem class, which also distressed me a bit at first since she is very strong in science (and math). Her logic is that she wants to apply to design schools and so she wants to spend time sewing and designing this year to work on her portfolio. Fortunately, she is the 3rd child, so I'm more low-key about such things. Dh and I had several private conversations, and then talked with her about her courses this year and planned courses next year - and decided it would be fine for her to do that, even good for her goals. She will graduate fewer AP classes/credits than either ds or dd18 in the end, but I'm telling myself that is OK. . . .Dd16 has always been pretty self-directed.

Dee, Routinely Monday is a GOOD opener!

I was using my cane today, as my right hip wasn't acting properly today. I did s2s, shampoo, and did the pre-walking leg/calf stretches, walked 30 minutes, and did the after-walk stretches. Have my timer set for 15 minutes. So won't be in my chair for longer periods. Will baby-step the day today, on and off, too.

Had to use my rescue inhaler, so now I'm "shaky". This is temporary; this will pass.

It's sunny, beautiful, in the 80's today, and we saw 2 deer at the drain field, walking across, eating tree branches, as they hung down. Such beautiful shiny fur today, in the morning sun. Nice to see.

My kitty cat's being a kitty cat today! She's acting "goofy". She's such a joy on painful days, truly. Makes the day more softened and enjoyable. ♥
