Strange Saturday

Post by lucylee »

Okay... this IS strange... where IS everyone??? I have not been the first to arrive in... well... in FOREVER!!!

Early to rise today, b/c dgs arrived @ 8:00 a.m. I got up and s2s before he got here. They are now about halfway to college town, and dgs and I have
eaten breakfast,
read the paper,
called bank automatic teller to confirm that my check was deposited,
covered the floors of four rooms w/toys,
picked up toys in bathroom,
put sheets and underwear in the washer, and
put my makeup on!
It was not a 50/50 effort on all of these accomplishments.

I am sooo sleepy... and he shows NO signs of allowing a nap for either of us so far.

We have to run some errands before AU's ballgame starts @ 3:00.
[ ] CVS
[ ] grocery store
[ ] post office
Dgs is NOT going to want to do any of these. He does not like leaving his toys.

Dcousin called last night and made arrangements for our family to get together for Labor Day at her house. She is the one who lives across the back pasture from me. She wants me to bring hot dogs, buns, and my homemade chocolate cookies. I make them from the slice & bake dough, you know, but it will take about an hour and a half to do them... so that will be another thing I'll have to get to tonight. I'll probably wait until after the game for that.
If y'all get the SEC network, you can watch with me, at 3:00 p.m.

Please do take time to read my posts last night, here and in J&C. Yesterday was quite a strange day and my nerves are still a little on edge, but I'm pushing along and trying to keep my mind from spinning.

Hope whatever you're doing is lots of fun on this last Saturday of summer. (I know technically it's not, but it seems like it, doesn't it. Labor Day seems like the end of summer to me anyway, even though temps here will say SUMMER for at least another month.)
Tomorrow is another day.

Lucylee It is quiet here today isn't it?

Like you, I'm tired (didn't get light's out until 12:40 but woke up at 7) but unlike you, there's no excuse not to back to bed! (except I haven't finished tomorrow's service.)

Need to plan the food for Monday since the stores are closed that day. Except, it occurs to me they are open in tourist areas and the theater I'm going to is in the tourist area, I think. We park at the grocery store there so I might have a backup.

Getting excited about seeing my minister friend again, except I won't actually believe it until I see him. He could cancel at any time.

As well, I'm excited about the movie, Calvary. The premise is fascinating to me (priest is told he's going to be killed one week hence because the killer wants to avenge being abused by a priest as a child and has picked an innocent priest to kill to represent the loss of his own innocence.) Should be a real thigh-slapper! (Just kidding!) Dh and I are taking my minister friend and it opens up all kinds of teasing opportunities. Hope I can control my tongue.

Ds is on his way to meet TGF's mother. That should be interesting. I think he's a bit nervous about that.

They are talking openly about her moving here next spring. Hope the long-distance relationship lasts. We like this one a lot!

Yes, I AGREE, Lucylee! It's strange how "quiet" it is here today! :!:

Enjoy your visit with your minister friend again, Kathryn, if it happens. :D

Yesterday, the forecast for today were spotty summer light showers, not everywhere, but just in some places, and not rain. Ha! It was a DOWNPOUR here, so dark outdoors, and is STILL dark, cloudy, and wet! :o The power blinked off once, but I'd just taken my s2s, so I was okay. DH did his shower soon afterwards.

It's college football day here today. I'll try to be patient. DH said he'll be watching until 10 p.m.! At least I have crochet to do, reading to get done, and want to walk about the house for 1/2-hour. I can always go to the Bunny Room, close the door and play music and read if I need to "escape" from the cheering and whistles, etc...

DH had messed up the alarm system by pressing a number twice, instead of once. He's been setting the alarm in a hall, rather than on our base in the great room on the bookcase. This a.m., he pressed "Tutorial," on the base, listened/watched it, then fixed it! Yippee! GO, DH! :P :!:

Cleaned the toilets, am getting ready to do LOL and bathroom counters/sinks/trash. I'm slowly reading on a book on and off, too, which is due 9/19/14, but want to return it no later than Sept. 10.

I can't believe HOW QUIET IT IS HERE! Is it because of the Labor Day Weekend and school and colleges beginning soon, for those schools, which haven't started yet? :?:

I'd better run now. I wanted to say hello and tell everyone hello! But there aren't many here. But hello to those who come after me! Have a great Saturday, too!

Well I am still amazed. Where IS everyone???

Glad some of you are popping in at least...

I think dgs let me sleep for a little while. I put him in his playpen w/dinosaurs and toy soldiers... and every once in a while, he would shout, "Nana!!!" We were both in the den, and I had Sprout TV on, so that kept him occupied a little bit. Now I've got football on that tv, so he made sure I knew he wanted the tv on in "his" room. Then he came running to me saying (I realized later) "Cook Cook" -- I said, "Show me," and got up to follow him into the bedroom. Cookie Monster was on tv. He loves Cookie Monster.

Further progress...
* 2nd load of clothes has finished drying (needs folding)
* errands have been completed:
-- post office
-- bank
-- CVS
-- grocery store
-- gas station
We've eaten pizza and cookies and he's back at play, happy as a lark.

He threw an absolute FIT when we started out. He did NOT want to leave his toys... I think he really, really needs a nap but he will not slow down to take one.
Once we got started, everything was fine, and he was pretty good at all our stops.

FF, it is supposed to rain here some, and maybe a LOT of rain at the ballgame. DH carried a poncho with him. So far we are getting nothing here.

Waving to RR, Kathryn, and everyone else who may peep in later!
Tomorrow is another day.

I'm keeping up with reading posts.

This afternoon we ran to town to get a flat fixed on DH truck. While in town we ran by Sears and then out of frustration went to Lowe's. At both places I was prepared to purchase a washer/dryer but came home with neither. I was very frustrated with attitude of sales persons. They were saying outrageous lies (I had already done my research). I decide to not give them the sale and order online instead.

I have 20 minutes before leaving to do a 3 hour volunteer shift in the "muffin tin" booth. It is hovering right at 100 degrees so will be a hot time at the fair tonight in more ways than one. The rain and mud has reduced attendance the last 2 nights, but I expect it to be standing room only tonight. I'll keep LO in the booth with me - he enjoys talking and interacting with everyone.

LadyM, comment to management. HRH had the opposite situation yesterday - a person who took his (HRH's) attitude from poor to good by giving correct customer service and help. He commented to management and was glad he did. It's helpful for the consumer's opinions to be known.

Kathryn, I like this girl. Tell ds to keep her. Ninja wrapping is even better than being bilingual.

This is the first Sat after school started so I guess the fact that our entire household missed wake-up time is not too surprising. We're pretty zapped of get-up-and-go. In fact, I just went out for take-out breakfast and didn't even give it a second thought. But I do have dailies well done. Just finished changing linens on our bed.

lucylee, the committee, or whoever, made a wise decision on marshal and I recommend lots of photos, including with dgs.

Hoping RamblinRose , Harmony and FFriend feel better soon. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, please forgive.

Hello, villagers ~
DH and I are having a very quiet Saturday. We went to a local diner for lunch.

For dessert, I unboxed the new SodaStream machine and "cooked" my first bottle of root beer. There are 5 other flavor samples in the box, plus I bought a bottle of ginger ale syrup when I got the machine.

I'm hoping DH will like the diet cola flavor so he can start making his own. He buys soooo many 2L bottles of pop and never takes back the bottles. Since I have had no luck convincing him to reduce the amount of cola he buys, if he can get used to the taste of the SS syrups to make his own, at least the pile of bottles will stop growing.

The 2L bottles all need to be washed before I can take them back to the store (or donate them to a school fund-raiser), so it will take awhile to make the bottle mountain disappear.

Yes, we all are. On a day like today when we are still on page one at 7:30 eastern time, that isn't hard!

/sarcastic commenting

I spent the day watching episodes of Suits. Dd warned me it started to fall apart and she lost interest in season 3. Not sure I'll make it that far.

Did go for a decent length bike ride. Took a movie back to the library and looked for my books on hold. I put them on hold last weekend and there are copies available. They have taken over a week to get to my branch and I won't have them until Tuesday at the earliest now. Sigh.... I thought I was so clever ordering them while away so I could pick them up when I got home and start on a 'new life'.

We checked the Y to see if they have opened the pool yet. Nope. So much for end of July and end of August predictions. Now they are looking at the middle of September.

Still working on the service. The prayers are all done, music finally picked and one hymn learned. Now to touch up the sermon and print it off.

But first to learn an anthem with dh. No, we didn't put this off til the last minute. He couldn't sing until today due to the cold.

Back from a drive to the farm. Had lunch where I had my 1st paying job in hs washing dishes.

Got a new crock pot there is a recipe for mac & cheese in the book with it! Yippie! Found soda stream diet cranberry flavor for. My soda stream love it! The cranberry grape one is excellent diet cola not so much diet orange and lemon lime are good too. It is good with crystsl like powdered packets the lemonade diet one was a bit strong for my taste.

I was able to retun a shirt that did not fit. Glad for that.
