Labor Day Monday

Went out on the bike for about 50 minutes. Then did stretches on the balcony before changing into other clothes.

My minister friend just called and he's done his visiting at the hospitals, so invited me out for lunch but I'd just finished mine so he'll grab something and come on over.

Need to get dinner underway so we can just walk out the door and come back to a cooked dinner.

Ds just called and he's doing fine out in Alberta. Looking forward to hearing his stories.

Laboring here on Labor Day as usual. DH is out at work and he's a little stopped with his work because the 3 supply places he needs are closed. We weren't aware that these places closed on the holiday. Of course, we figured places like a concrete plant would be closed, but not const. stores.

I had to go over to one jobsite and take him to another so he could get his other truck. This stuff happens a lot when we have a helper without a driver's license. He's a really great worker with great skills so worth the extra inconvenience. I try not to be grumbly about it because I know how much he's helping DH.

While I was out I dropped off my minutes and other papers to our committee head. That worked out great, I was only a few blocks away. I talked with one of the other gals who said she'd be glad to take notes for me and I left a stamped envelope for her to just mail them to me.

I don't know if I'm still contagious or not. I suspect not, since there's no fever and no color to fluids.... but who knows. People get skittish about that sort of thing.

(Kathryn) I wonder if your move and the house sale (now that it's for sure) affects your mood? They say any change - even a very good one - is hard on our emotions for a while. I think I read a move ranks right up there with a death or a divorce.

Have a nice day everybody. I just had a turkey sandwich and I think I might just take it easy for a while. Can't go to the bank, and I've done all my desk chores yesterday...so I guess I'll just chill for a bit.

Can say "amen" to that, Harmony. Find myself thinking more, the longer years between, that I still wish for my house from time to time. Especially certain elements of it.

Just texted with ddil and they've decided 5:30 is a better time to eat so that gives us another 3 hours. That's fine because dh is taking a (badly needed) snooze. Hoping he'll stay asleep for a while. He's been so tired! And it's hot out today and I'm sure, as usual, he's not drinking enough. Hard to convince him that even though he needs to take strong diuretics, he still needs to maintain fluid going in.

Kathryn, I'm sure the stress of the move is still affecting you. It may also be that the shortening of the days is getting to you, so the SAD lamp may be a good move.

We are home, and I am camped in a chair with my computer. Dh is out mowing/grooming the yard. DD is still here, we're having a quiet afternoon, which is good because I woke up with a screaming headache. It's faded to just a dull throb now and then.

We had a very nice long weekend. On Friday, we took the scenic route through the N GA mtns, stopping at a winery for a late lunch and glass of wine with a view. Got to the resort, had a nap and then walk, glass of wine at the winery there, then a snack at one of the restaurants, with fruit and cheese later in room. Saturday we went outlet shopping, then had excellent barbeque on the way back to the resort. After a nap we did the winery tour and wine tasting, then ended up having a bar snack then watching the FL State game in the room. On Sunday we were up early for the trip home for the unveiling and luncheon. We were back at the resort late afternoon for (another) nap and then dinner last night at the "nice" restaurant at the resort. Both of us were too full for dessert, altho the desserts looked wonderful!

This morning, we checked out and did brunch in ATL before heading home.

I spent over 2 hours cleaning LO bedroom. I took the mattresses, box springs & toy box completely out of the room so I could wash walls and floor. But before I could clean the floor well, I had to first pick up what seemed like 1,000+ toys. I filled three 50 gallon trash bags with toys! We are going to work on learning to keep toys picked up and put away. The new rule is......keep your room clean and each evening you get to removed a toy from the bags and return it to the toy box. If you don't take care of your toys and leave them laying around, then they will be returned to the big black bags. Eventually LO will have removed the toys he really likes and plays with then everything left in the bags will be taken to GWill.

DMom dropped by for a visit while I was cleaning LO room. No time to move things around so she walked around the 4 mattresses/box springs and big wooden toys box in the middle of our dining room. DMom sat and talked for an hour before leaving.

Lunch was fried chicken, chips and fresh garden salsa. DH declared it to be the best salsa he has ever eaten. It was very tasty. I was measuring my portions and found it so tasty that I could have easily eaten twice as much. However, I resisted my desire to eat non-stop and stayed with my plan. We finished the meal with the last of the double crust apple pie. Farewell to that yummy sweet treat until next holiday.

(((Kathryn))) They say the first step to solving a problem is addressing it. I'm sure you will find a plan that works for you. Once you decide then I suspect you will find a peace and happiness from having a plan of action to solve it. You are an expert problem solver! What would you suggest to someone else in the same situation?

Hello everyone! I've been home for about 1.5 hours now. NYC was great! There are so many interesting things to see and do. We barely scratched the surface in our 2 days there. We got to: the MMOArt, Central Park, Empire State Bldg. observatory, a Broadway show (Aladdin - it was great!), 9/11 museum and memorial, Wall St., viewing the Statue of Liberty from near Battery Park. . .. We ate NY pizza, Greek food, meatballs. Even more, it was really good to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. We stayed at the home of a friend of dfriend K, the one who lost 45 lbs. and looks great now! I am SO exhausted, though. It was pretty much nonstop socializing during waking hours. Also, b/c we got in and/or talked until late each night, I didn't quite get enough sleep. I ate too much once home b/c I didn't have lunch and b/c I am tired.

Anyhow, I now need to head out the door to go to dd18's dorm. She wants us to bring the dogs. . . I think there is a bbq and she wants to share them with her friends. Her RA and others seem to think that would be fine. . . Dd16 has already gone off with her friend to visit dd18. I have the feeling dd16 may be visiting dd18 a lot this year.

I do have a slight headache so I think I'll take an Advil, grab dogs, and then head over. It is starting to look like rain, though.

Had a good remainder of the day.

My friend came early and we sat on the balcony, having lemonade and talking. Then dinner was popped in the oven (preprogrammed to start while we were out) and we headed off to the movie.

Calvary was excellent. If it plays in your town, I highly recommend it. We sat there, numb, in the theatre until we had to move. Then we discussed it on the way home and over dinner. It is fun to watch these things with a minister because his viewpoint is different. He writes for his local paper and is thinking of writing a review of it after he gets a copy of the dvd (it isn't out yet on dvd, though.) There was so much meat in the movie. Dh doesn't like this sort of movie but enjoyed the cinematography.

There was a trailer for another interesting movie that dh isn't interested in so I told my friend that I'd go with him if he was interested. He could be my 'thinking' movie friend (since I avoid those with dh and never make the time to go to them on my own, as dh makes the time to go to his fantasy, sci-fi, or action movies.)

Dinner smelled wonderful when we walked in the door. We ate about 35 minutes later, out on the balcony. No balloon launch tonight but the weather was fine for eating out. We sat out there well past sunset so I brought out candles to light the table during dessert.

The kitchen is all cleaned up and the dishwasher is running. I will say this kitchen seems to clean up more quickly than our old one and I'm not sure why.

helia I meant to tell you how nice the dorm sounded.

Headaches - both HRH and I had one today so I suspect weather, especially for Twins', who is more or less in our region. I even had to lie down and before I knew it he was putting a blanket over me because I fell asleep.

Tomorrow a.m. I'll be going with HRH a little after 8 for a trip into big city, so may feel hard pressed to get morning dailies done. Just thinking about it now, if I do a laundry load of towels it should work out fine, since I could leave them.

He has a dentist appt for one thing, and I suppose I'll have some time for reading. Need to glance around here and find a couple books.

I need to get busy on Desk Day early in the week.
