I was awake off and on last night and then didn't wake up until 8:30 Not even past putting on my glasses and posting here. Thankfully this abode is not bad today. Won't take me 10 minutes to spiffy it up. But of course there's lots more to do.

I was also up for awhile during the night. Macs was whinny - I thought I heard thunder and finally got up with him for awhile. Wasn't thunder, but I was still awake for about 45 minutes.

This is errand day...need to get moving as usual.

-walk ddogs
-bag up and get recycling out to street
-breakfast and meds/vitamins
-empty dishwasher
-kitchen counter clean up

Not your FEARLESS leader but I will admit to being one of the leadership team here! Without the others, I would have given up and pulled the covers over my head long ago!

So far it is just another day, which is actually how I like my birthdays. When the kids were little, dh had a conference every year at this time and so was more often than not away for my birthday. The kids were too little to remember so, aside from my parents, sister and a few friends, the day would pass with nary a comment. I decided I could be resentful or consider myself blessed to have such a life that being treated specially one day of the year didn't make it better, my life was pretty great all the time. So, I shifted my attitude and found birthday's more manageable.

I get the occasional special one (dh and dd pulled off a surprise party for my 40th) and this year, dd is hosting a dinner for me, but in general, we keep my birthday (and by default dh's) and our anniversary, pretty quiet and do our best to treat each other specially every day.

Ds is sleeping here today. He had a boring overnight shift, nothing to do. Those are the toughest to get through. Because he's here, we have to remember to move his car every 3 hours due to the parking regs.

Dd emailed me to remind me to bring things for her 'really, really, free' sale on Saturday. I'm wandering around, picking up things that I can to without. Hoping to get to 21 items before we leave for her place. So far I'm at 8. I have some clothes that need to go so that might add to the pile.

At the house there was a kitchen cupboard that held silver and shoe polishes as well as baking stuff, and assorted other junk. Here the cupboard was smaller so a few things were shifted. Obviously these cupboard doors seal things off more because every time I open the cupboard, I get a whiff of chemicals. So, as I was culling things, I also took the time to move my bulk spices into the kitchen and the chemicals into the laundry room. So there's a reorganization job done.

I have a meeting at 1 and am still on the hunt for a winter coat. The area around my meeting has 4 thrift stores, Costco and a Walmart so I'll take time to go shopping as well. That will probably be my exercise for the day.

I have already talked to dm this am. Today would have been their 38th anniversary. She is working today, since she has an out of town eye specialist appt tomorrow. She also has a hair appt, a retirement party for a friend, a church dinner and church board meeting tonight. So that will keep her busy all day and hopefully she won't be weepy.

I have had a barky cough for a week and a half. Other than that I don't have any other symptoms. Dd1 says that it seems to be going around. Both dgd3 and dgd4 have had a cough, so dd2 is taking them to the dr. this am. She wants to rule out that enterovirus that we hear about on the news.

I don't think I posted that we were taking our motorhome last weekend for a maiden voyage. Friday it rained all day. We finally had to load in the rain. On our way to the lake, it finally quit by 5:30. There were 2 couples from the plant camping there also. We spent a lot of time at one couples campsite. During the evening they had a campfire going. They also had a 40" TV with a satellite signal, so we were able to watch my favorite college teams game plus the Nascar race that evening. Our kitchen faucet was leaking under the sink. Dh thought it was an O ring. Once we were home, he checked it out and that was what the problem was. It is now fixed. We have a list of things that we realized we need and so we are working on getting those things bought. We had a nice trip and dh would like to go to the lake again this weekend. It is suppose to rain again on Friday and be cooler this weekend, so I really don't want to go. He is already talking about buying a small boat like he used to have for fishing. I had hoped he wouldn't come up with that idea again, since it has been over 24 years since he has been fishing.

Last week we started having water pressure problems. After calling the city and finding out that they were not doing anything to cause the issue, we realized it is our water softener. Dh pushed the bypass switch and we no longer had water pressure problems, but no soft water. It didn't take too long to tell him to switch it back. So now we need to decide whether to have the local company that has water softeners and bottled water, put in a new one. Or buy from Sears and have a plumber install it. Dh installed the one at the other house but doesn't want to install one here. The reason being, there is no shut off valve to it, so we wouldn't have water while he was installing it. Based on the fact that everything he has done here, has been one problem or another, he doesn't want to tackle this one. We had a Sears ws at the other house and it was still working after 14+ years when we moved. But according to anyone dh talked to at work about it, they thought we were just lucky and should go with the local company. So we need to make a decision and get something done.

We leave 2 weeks from today to go to our hometown so that dh can go to the bike rally in Arkansas with some friends. I will be staying with db and dsisil while he is gone and spending time with family. We will be gone for 6 days.

I don't know if I have mentioned it here but we have had a terrible time with spider webs everywhere outside, the grass, on bushes, from point A to point B. I jokingly said that I wondered if that meant something weatherwise. Last week I was at dd2s and her neighbors came over and we were talking. Her neighbor said that she had heard that the spider web issue meant we were to have a bad winter. According to the Farmer's Almanac, we are suppose to be colder and have more moisture. Time will tell. I do think we think are due for a colder, snowier winter like we had in the early years while living here.

Well I better get a shower. I have a bunch of errands that I need to run.

Good morning, villagers ~
I am having a downer of a week, but I'm coping as best I can, and still mobile.

In a few hours I will be heading north to help move my oldest DSis into a nursing home. This is very sudden, and I don't know any details yet except that younger DSis texted me late yesterday afternoon to ask if I would be available to help with the move. Younger DSis texted instead of calling because she was swamped at work and had no time to talk. Since she didn't call or email last night, that tells me that this is not a serious health emergency.

That probably sounds heartless to outsiders, but both DSis and I had to attend long meetings last night so not receiving a phone call or email is actually a really good sign. It's reassuring that the situation is not serious enough to need a long conversation.

My guess is that oldest DSis's doctors changed her meds again so she needs just enough extra temporary care that her assisted living housing isn't set up to handle.

My car started sounding and feeling a little off last night.

We have had a lot of rain over the past couple of days, and the sky is very dark again today.

I am very grateful for this forum, to be part of a group of people who support each other.

Happy Birthday Kathryn!
Checking in before the day gets away from me. It is cold here today 60*-73* with a low of 43* later on in the week. I am working on finishing up on laundry and inside stuff today. Enjoying the Rosemary & Thyme on net flicks.

I need to figure out the treats for hubby's lunches. I have some fruit bread he can have in the freezer. Using the oven will be a good thing today.

I have been making progress on a pink prayer shawl this week.

I want to get back outside and work on the garden by the back patio out door kit. Area did not do very well this summer so it needs some tlc & better watering.
I found some seeds when I was clearing.

I was awake before 6 am this morning, but dozed until the alarm sounded at 7 am. Up, washed, dressed, made the bed and bedroom tidy by 7:30. Dh made over-easy egg/toast for b'fast. I had fixed the coffee maker last night to start at 8 so it was brewed in time to take a cup with us on our way to take dgd12 to school. The air was fresh and a bit cooler this morning, although the high for today is to be 91*. We came straight home dropping dgd at school. Kitchen is tidy, ddogs are fed and watered. I still want to run vacuum over carpets and might need to dust flat surfaces, too.
