It would be a double win if we could find LO some boots and athletic type shoes while we are wasting time in the store. That would mean dragging LO away from sitting on the 4 wheelers and getting in all the boats so maybe I'll pass on shopping.

The living room and dining room are DONE! I even got some things done in the kitchen. Now to spend the next round in there trying to finish up. I replaced our old coffee maker with the new one & had to do some rearranging there. Need to straighten the refrigerator! Then I'll just have to sweep & do a bit of dusting. After that want to do a little straightening on the deck. I have the laundry on the deck waiting to be put in the car.

Still have no idea if we're having company, but I'm guessing probably so since we've heard nothing from them. Keep sort of waiting for dh to phone me & say he's heard from dniece.

Move it, Move it, Move it! Oh, sorry if the link doesn't work, but we can probably imagine Sargent Carter. Maybe I'll stick in a different link. I had used one of his more befuddled facial expression, before he could figure out exactly how to ..... um.... explain his wishes.

LadyM, you could say, "As soon as we find boots, we're going over to the boats." However, if you do find some, you will be lugging that package around for the rest of your time away from home. I think shaving 2 hours off your wait time is successful. Hard to explain to a child, but this hunger will not be urgent, and he'll be doing fine on the meal(s) you had yesterday.

Dee, you sound quite ready for the two ladies to arrive. I hope the visit does happen, since I'm sure they have been hoping along their long trip that it can. And you will be an ideal hostess for tired folks. They knew in advance not to expect spacious guest rooms if they came, so you will all be on the same page. No worries. I hope you all have fun talking. Remember the camera.

LM, perhaps you can use the boot shopping as a "carrot" if LO's attention lags along the way.

I am having trouble getting moving again today. I just realized I need a grocery run before I can start challah for the meal I am delivering tonight. I'm going to walk Moe, then head out to closest grocery store.

Plugging away at little things here (and ignoring the big things!)

- refilled vitamins
- wound the clocks
- watered the plants
- looked for a coat to donate (dh nixed the only one I had - apparently I donated the rest in the spring so I didn't have to move unsuitable coats.) Decided to return the purple coat to Walmart instead. Dh really likes the b&w one, and is so-so on the other so back it goes, simply in order to save room.
- took a load of things down to the car and picked up my tea mug which I had left there by accident, then took the stairs to ground level and
- returned my book to the bookmobile. Also picked up 2 more. This was my first trip to the bookmobile (a bus lined with bookshelves and filled with a selection of books & videos from the library system.) It is an unexpected bonus to living here - we don't have to bike to the library to do a return; once a week the library comes to us and parks on the street in front of the building for an hour. We've added it to the calendar to remind us to take back anything we've finished and check out what they have. Today I got an A.J. Jacob book, "Drop Dead Healthy" and a book on local hiking trails. Biking to the library is currently one of my joys, but in the winter the bookmobile will be just as much fun. It is well used. In the 10 minutes I was there 12 people were through it.

Both dh and I are using the library much more than we did when we lived in the village. The library was just one village over (in either direction) so actually a shorter drive than now, but it was the psychological distance that meant we didn't take advantage of it as much as we do now.

I have to leave in an hour so one more short round of little chores and then a quick lunch and make myself some snacks.

Well, Harriet, I'm about ready. Can't believe dh is still out and about -it's his day "OFF". He left about 6:30 this morning to do some piddly things.

Going out and spend about 10/15 minutes picking up on the deck & putting some things in my trunk -like laundry for instance. And the hand vac so I can use that while my laundry twirls in the wet one.

First I have to run the broom through and put away a few things that I transported to our bed. Could have done it as I took them in, but figured I'd do it all at once.

Yes, Harriet, I am looking forward to seeing them, 30 & 40 years is a very long time. Sad that they won't get to see anyone else. They're all working & DS-A has to go for a fire meeting tonight. We'll see how things go later today. Might even be able to take them to at least see where DS-A lives & our old house (which is right next door).

Hmmm....think I hear dh coming in the truck.

Hi ya'll. Remember me??

I have not been moving at all since Tuesday. I think I have grown roots in my Lazy Boy chair. The surgery went very well (love the people there - great staff) and I now have a 6 inch scar on my waist and 4 lbs. less of fatty tumor in my belly. My GP requested pictures so surgeon had DH come back with his phone to take pictures. It looked like a big old pile of chicken fat.

Took the required pain pills thru Thursday and woke up Friday with no pain. I can even sneeze and cough. Moving smarts a bit but the biggest problem is being really, REALLY tired. So I have been taking naps (my favorite thing to do ) I slept the night in our bed vs the big chair last night for the first time.

To LM and LO - hope the time goes fast and things go well for you.

To KIC - I took a course in Signs, Symbols and Religion a few years ago and loved it. We covered not only Christianity, but native and ancient religions. It was a co-listed course between the archeology and religion departments so we also had a wide range of students. Probably my favorite course.

Dee - getting ready for company in a rig is a lot easier than in a house. But it still takes effort of getting started. You are doing a great job.

It is almost 9 am and I'm still sitting here in my jammies. Best get in the shower and do SOMETHING. TTFN

Good morning, villagers ~
I'm hoping this week will go better because last week was pretty bad.

This one is going to be busy:

* DH is taking a vacation day today. He wanted to mow yesterday so we could go to a movie today, but the mower wouldn't start so he couldn't do anything. He has to take it to The Man to be fixed. I sure hope The Man can work on it today so DH can mow before the next set of rain clouds arrives.

* Tomorrow I need to spend the afternoon at the library getting ready for LEGO Club. I will make another attempt to search out pieces that are missing from the donated kits. I will also rearrange some things in storage to be able to squeeze more onto the shelves.

* Wednesday afternoon is LEGO Club. Our last meeting was the last week of July. I'm looking forward to seeing the kids again.

* Thursday afternoon is the groundbreaking ceremony for the library's new addition to the back of the building. The ceremony will just be for show, they can't really start digging the foundation until Spring. We want to publicly thank one of the major donors who might not live until the actual groundbreaking. I volunteered to help with the event but have not heard back from the organizers what they want me to do.

* Friday is supposed to be open and I hope it stays that way.

* Saturday I will be helping my younger DSis with an annual event she does to raise money for a scholarship in DNiece's name. The event is a 5K run or a 1K walk. DSis asked if I can be there first thing in the morning to give out race packets to participants, and it's about an hour drive from me, so I will be getting out of bed at the infamous 0-dark-30. Not sure what other help they will need after the race has started, maybe handing out water along the route?

Urgh, that's a lot of social activities all in the same week.

Just got lunch rounded up. Think then I will go up & throw laundry in & vac the car. once I throw LOL in the dryer I'll come back & work on the deck.

DH talked to dniece about 10am -they were in Potsdam. So I'm figuring 2/3 o'clock.
